The bungalow was perfect. It had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. The property is secluded and very private, but close enough to easily visit Napa and Sonoma wineries and restaurants with ease. Peter and Faith were amazing hosts and made sure our stay was perfect. Unfortunately, they wouldn't let us leave with Rosie, Dorji, and Frank (our daily greeters)!

We highly recommend this property and hope to visit again in the future.

We could have stayed forever!

  • 5 of 5

As VBRO and Homeaway users, we can say that our stay at the bungalow was beyond our expectations. Our hosts made us very welcome and saw to every detail. Although they were in residence during our stay and made themselves available, the property is so large and private we felt alone, but had the comfort of knowing they weren't far. Every amenity was thought of; 2 sets of his & her robes for seasonal temps., an abundance of extra linens, blankets, pillows etc., a fully equipped kitchen stocked with basic condiments and spices, coffee, tea to get you started. Faith has added her incredible touches throughout the bungalow so that the eye is never disappointed. There is what we came to dub "the red bible" on the desk which answers almost any question you might have about the bungalow before you have it. Very helpful.

The bungalow is about 10 minutes from downtown Napa, half of which is a beautiful drive down the mountain through deer gated vineyards. The highway is easy to access and daily trips to St.Helena, Sonoma, Yountville and Calistoga were a breeze. Faith and Peter were very helpful with info on where to market, restaurant and visit locally. Favorite food and wine pairing was St. Francis Winery. Don't miss Artesa winery. Loved downtown Sonoma for shopping and lunch. Unexpected highlight was meeting Peter & Faith and their canine and feline family Dorji, Rosie and Fred! We literally could have stayed forever!

Simply Stunning!

  • 5 of 5

We arrived in Napa from Los Angeles after flying out from England. Our Son treated us to this wonderful break. We have always wanted to visit Napa Valley as we have heard so much about it. We were not disappointed and positively excited as we approached our hideaway home for our holiday break. The owners (and the dogs & cat) couldn’t have been more welcoming. The bungalow was full of character, had everything you needed and more. The views and atmosphere were just stunning. Both day and night the bungalow was just perfect for temperature. Each day we used the pool is was like living in Shang Gri La – warmth, peace and tranquillity, the perfect environment to relax. All too quickly our vacation ended and we were all very sorry to leave and can’t wait to return. I strongly recommend his holiday home to anyone who just needs to ‘chill-out’ in the most stunning of all locations in the Napa region. Thank you so much to our gracious hosts for creating something VERY special indeed.

Delightful experience

  • 5 of 5

I am 67 years of age. Of all my vacations, this one was the one that I most hated to see end. This is secluded property whose atmosphere is serene. Our hosts were readily available--- at the end of the vacation, my wife and I saw them as new friends. We enjoyed the afternoons poolside.; mornings we walked the countryside either in the contingous state park or the road up the hill and through the vineyards. It's a great place to have a glass of wine while watching the sunset. We would gladly stay a month at such time as our careers allow.

For This Kind of Money You Should Expect More

  • 2 of 5

For the amount of money we paid to rent the guest house . . . . it didn't meet our expectation.

The house needs repair, upgrading and cleaning.

Unless you like using a stained shower, toilet and sinks, cracked floors, old furniture, and sleeping on a futon bed with blankets that don't fit.

We rearranged the furniture a bit and under the area rug there was plenty of dirt. Obviously the rug had not been shaken out in some time.

Otherwise the pictures represent the property. Surrounding views are great and the house is private and quite.

Owner's Response: As this guest says, the pictures posted do indeed represent the property. Imagine our surprise when we saw this review as we were in residence at the main house throughout our visitor’s stay and the only issue we heard about was one problem with a ceiling fan that we promptly adjusted. We ourselves are longtime users of VRBO and HomeAway and always extend the courtesy of talking to our hosts directly about issues or concerns—especially when they’re readily accessible. We are sorry that our guests found dirt under a carpet. Living in the countryside does mean that our guests often live as much outside as in, (French doors open onto the large deck that runs the length of the house—people leave them open). This does mean that some of the outdoors does come inside at times—usually it’s just leaves. Our housekeeper says she’ll ensure there won’t be dirt under the rug again. We are incredibly careful to keep dirt in the bungalow to a minimum, but we missed this one spot. As for the blanket situation—we are unsure of their issue. The bed is queen-sized, and the blankets and comforters we have are queen-sized. If they were unhappy with what was on the bed they were more than welcome to use one of the other blankets and comforters available in the closet—all queen-sized, or ask us for others. As for the quality of the bed itself—it is a top-of-the-line, all-weather, wrapped-core, futon mattress on a custom wood frame. It is amazingly comfortable, good in both hot and cold weather and we’ve never had a complaint about it. The “old furniture” they mention are antiques and vintage—the pieces are there by design. As these guests may recall when they first contacted us, before they even booked we suggested, given their line of questioning, that they might be more comfortable in a hotel as it seemed to be more in keeping with what they were looking for. Our bungalow is beautiful, but it is a lived-in house and not a hotel room. Yes, there is a crack in our Saltillo tiles. The staining is from mineral-rich well water (filtered and softened now for a number of years). As for the cost—our price is lower than that of other very private similar properties. We value greatly the guests who have appreciated an eclectic rammed-earth home of character and uncommon beauty in a beautiful and tranquil setting.

A slice of Heaven

  • 5 of 5

About 3 years ago I had my first trip to Napa, and I said to my wife we need to go back as many times as we possible can. So far we have been back once a year. The last trip in 2012 was very special. Me and my wife had the great pleasure of staying at this beautiful property for a month, we stayed there for all of July 2012. The bungalow is placed so you have the most beautiful views of the property, overlooking Napa City/ Napa Valley. I do travel extensively throughout the year. This place is the first place I have been to were you instantly feel calm, relaxed and balanced right away, (that has usually taken me 3-4 days on all of my other vacations). To top it all the owners Faith & Peter are the nicest people you can meet. They really carry their hearts first, really making an effort for your stay to be perfect. I wish the world had more people like them.

We will be back!!
