Large, modern custom-designed home on secluded lot with 250’ of private, wooded shoreline on Big Yellow Lake. The ultimate getaway for PRIVACY and LUXURY. Completely furnished. Large wooded lot with heavily wooded buffer zone on both sides of property. You won’t see or hear the neighbors unless you make the effort to visit them. Situated on a quiet road that is all but invisible from the house.
Yellow Lake is a large, peaceful 2300-acre lake fed by springs and the Yellow River. It is well-known as a GREAT fishing lake, with a large variety of fish from perch, sunnies & crappies, to walleyes, large & smallmouth bass, northern, muskies and sturgeon. Great lake for sailing and water sports. Two bar/restaurants with mooring on the lake. Plenty of restaurants, golf, and other activities within short driving distance.
Large kitchen, dining & living areas. Luxurious master bedroom has queen bed, large walk-in closet, and private master bathroom with double vanity, jacuzzi tub, and separate shower stall. A second bath with full tub & shower serves the guest bedroom (den with double sleeper sofa). A stairway leads to a large loft overlooking the cathedral-ceiling living areas, with a large seating area, a single bed and a double bed. Finished with lots of knotty cedar and oak and decorated with large professional photos of local wildlife.
You can expect to see bald eagles frequently, up close and personal, as well as the large Pileated woodpeckers. Smaller birds are also in abundance, and occasional visits from deer, wild turkeys, grouse, fox, & rabbits.
There is a guest cabin on the property with two bedrooms, toilet, shower, living room & kitchen. Available separately (VRBO #427429) or in combination with the main house. A screened gazebo overlooking the lake sits between the two.
A nesting pair of BALD EAGLES lived high in a white pine between the two buildings for twelve years. The nest went down in a storm in 2012, but the eagles still hang out here. As you relax on the large front deck, the eagles will come and go from their favorite tree between you and the lake, often bringing fish to eat while you watch. A family of red foxes makes their home in our woods. The adults are elusive, but the kits often wander through the yard where you can get a closeup view.
A scenic sloping path leads down the lake between majestic pine trees. (Accessible by golf cart if you have mobility problems).
Private dock, rowboat, canoe & 2 kayaks are included at no extra charge, or you can bring your own boat and tie it up at the dock. 14' aluminum boat with 9.9hp motor ($150/wk) available for rent. New for 2015 are an electric motorized kayak ($150/wk) and a kids electric motorized "fun boat" with water cannon ($150/wk). There are several public landings, as near as a mile away.
No Smoking. Strictly no fireworks because they frighten the eagles and the red foxes that live here. No pets. We don't want the eagles or foxes to frighten fido or vice-versa.

The Owner purchased this house in 2004
We bought this property because of its unique private atmosphere and the active eagle nest in the middle of the yard. There is a magical quality about this property that seems like you are in your own little world.
This gorgeous home was custom-designed and built for a retired couple. It is the most tranquil vacation spot you can imagine, very private, and with eagle-watching any day of the year. Direct access to the largest and best fishing lake in the area.
Well it has taken me a while to write this review because I am worried someone will steal our week after they read this.
This was the 3rd time we have stayed at the Eagle house, that should in it's self be a recommendation. We have stayed at others when this was not available, but we keep coming back when we can. We love the peace and quiet, the proximity to town, (close but not too close) and we really like Jim the owner. Jim goes out of his way to make sure you are comfortable. If you have a problem he will fix it.
This year we had 4 of us, my husband, my son my mom and myself. We all were very comfortable, and there was room for a few more if needed. Every thing is neat and clean. The kitchen has everything you need, plus some. The only thing missing at the house is WiFi, then I would only have to leave to get groceries!
We were especially thrilled to see on this trip, a black bear walking past the cabin on the morning we were leaving. Hope to be able to be here next year, when I may need to get up early every morning to see if one will walk by again.
We rented this home for about 3 1/2 weeks. We had a great time. This home is outstanding, beds are comfortable, kitchen well equipped and a new BBQ grill. Owner goes out of his way to make everything is to your satisfaction. We didn't fish that much but caught enough walleyes for a nice meal. Excellent restaurants. The Adventures in Siren and the Yellow River Saloon are our favorites. If you golf there are several good courses. Siren National if special but difficult and Grand National in Hinckley is also very good. We highly recommend this property.
we had the privilege of staying here the first week of september, the property is very private and the home is unlike most rental homes.it is very well equipped ,has a great view and is furnished very well.the wildlife around the home includes a fox, witch visits daily and eagles prominent in the tree line.the pontoon boat was nice and dependable.we could not have been happier.jim was a great host,we definitely hope to return.
This was our second time to stay at this property. Due to many things, we stayed at a different property last year. After being there for a couple days, we were certain that this year we would rent this place.
We, me, my husband, and two 19 year old boys, had a great vacation. We fished, we kayaked, read books, and just simply relaxed.
This property is clean well furnished, comfortable, and private. If we go up north next year, we WILL stay here if it's available.
My family had a wonderful vacation in the Eagle House and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Jim made us feel right at home and was kind enough to provide me with a up-close view of the bald eagles on the lake. We really enjoyed fishing and boating and eagle viewing, as well as visiting nearby attractions. I highly recommend staying here!
We had an excellent time staying in this lovely home. The amenities were awesome: a well equipped kitchen, a huge laundry room, nice full bathrooms with new towels, central air, a grill on the deck and a golf cart to get down to the lake(if needed). This home is in a great location with a grocery store just minutes away.
Jim, the owner was very helpful and made every effort to make our trip enjoyable. We rented the fishing boat and the pontoon boat during our stay. Renting both boats was worth the extra fee and made for lots of fun on the water.
The fishing was great as well! We caught several Northern, Walleye, Bass and saw a Sturgeon jump. The eagles are active and fun to watch. We also saw several loons, deer and some wild turkeys. I would recommend this home to families, young couples, and retirees.
