Harwich Port House Rental Photos and Description

6 Bedrooms, 4 Baths, (Sleeps 14), full kitchen, large dining room, waterfront

Beach Lodge, one of the few remaining turn-of-the-century captain's homes on picturesque Wychmere Harbor, features panoramic water views, deeded harbor access, and a short walk to the sandy beaches of Nantucket Sound. With 6 bedrooms, 4 baths, an outdoor shower, full eat-in kitchen with appliances, large dining room with seating for 14, this historic home comfortably sleeps 14. It should be noted, although the central staircase is a beautiful turn-of-the-century classic staircase, the risers are steep.

Cape Cod classic touches include antique furnishings, a sweeping water view porch with Adirondack chairs, screened side porch, outdoor dining area, lush lawns, native perennial flower beds and a private privet driveway. Modern amenities include high-speed wireless internet, cable TV's with DVD/Blu-ray players, gas grill, wet bar and even a horseshoe court. Sail your boat into Wychmere Harbor, enjoy kayaking, fishing, and nearby daily ferry service to the Island of Nantucket. The summer breezes that drift off the water will keep you cool while you sip your favorite libation and watch the boats come and go and the baby ospreys learn to fly. Outdoor furniture and barbecue all set up and ready for your family cook outs! This home's stunning harbor location, just a few minutes walk to the beach, the Wychmere Beach Club or Harwich Port's Main Street shops, galleries and popular restaurants, make Beach Lodge the quintessential Cape Cod family getaway.

We do not allow wedding events or large gatherings.

About Heather Sander

After nearly 3 decades of renting homes on the Cape, the Sander & Glancy families purchased Beach Lodge. Our families are proud to share this historic home and its magical setting with your family and friends. We are sure that you will enjoy your stay and take with you, wonderful memories that will last a lifetime.

Why Heather Sander chose Cape Cod

Beach Lodge is one of the few remaining "summer cottages" which once encircled Wychmere Harbor. This historic Captain's house has been painstakingly maintained to provide our guests an authentic experience. The home is filled with original photographs and maps that chronicle the home's place in Harwich Port History. The intimate village of Harwich Port, with its shops, boutiques, galleries, restaurants and coffer shops (and of course Sundae School Ice Cream) made us fall in love with the home's location.

What makes this house unique

The age and history of the home provide a unique opportunity for our guests to experience "olde Cape Cod" while enjoying all the comforts and amenities that they have become accustomed to in their own homes. With the harbor, the beach and town all within walking distance, you can leave the car behind and enjoy your vacation on foot! The Cape Cod Rail Trail is close by for leisurely bike rides or serious long distance cycling.

Harborside Dream

  • 5 of 5

We rented Beach Lodge for a family reunion and it was prefect.

The location along side the harbor is lovely and there is so much to look at.

We also loved the proximity to both the beach and town main street, with both are well within walking distance.

The photos of the home and property do not do it justice. It is even more lovely and well appointed in real life. It's an historic home full of Cape Cod character.

Renting for the week was a simple, smooth process and the owner put us at easy by thoroughly addressing our questions and concerns.

We would love to come back sometime soon.

Lovely home for summer fun on Cape Cod

  • 5 of 5

Beach Lodge was the ideal place for our family vacation. This large historic home is full of charm. No two rooms are alike and the decor is exactly what you'd expect for a seaside getaway. From coffee or drinks on the screened porch or dinner on the front deck overlooking the picturesque harbor, we never wanted to leave!

The lawns and gardens are well kept and provide plenty of space for our kids to play. The beach is also a close walk away, which was perfect for cooling off on hot days.

The town (Harwich Port) main street is also a close walk away and we loved checking out the coffee shops, stores, bars and restaurants.

We had people of all ages in our group, and the whole week had so much to offer everyone.

We will absolutely be back next summer!

Beach Lodge

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely rental only steps from a sandy beach, has a view of a little harbor across the street and is a short walk to town. The home is beautifully appointed and is well maintained. It has everything you need and is perfect for large families: Beach towels, washer and dryer, dishwasher, dishes, pots and pans, out door shower. A walk to town for breakfast or coffee and a pastry is always pleasant, and a glass of wine on the deck or inside porch is lovely. There are a number of good places to eat in or near Harwich Port ranging from seafood shacks to gourmet dining. It is a very near Chatham which is a good shopping area for nice gift or just for a change of pace. For a special treat go to Marions's Pie Shop and you can eat there or take home something special ( a Cape Cod tradition since 1947) . This home is a perfect place to stay for a wedding. Spacious, comfortable, well-stocked kitchen, a room for everyone.I highly recommend renting this home!

Beach Lodge

  • 5 of 5

We had such a lovely stay! The house is perfect in all respects. Beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Loved the outdoor shower especially! The kitchen was large and very well-equipped, and we did lots of cooking. The huge porches were always in use, and the proximity to the beach very nice indeed.

Beach Lodge is ideally located on Wychmere Harbor and just a short walk down Snow Inn Road from Merkel Beach. Guests have full access to this quiet beach on Nantucket Sound. One of the area's beloved ice cream shops, The Sundae School, is a short walk back down Snow Inn Road, and just a block down Main Street (route 28). Walk just a few minutes further, and you will pass Ember Restaurant, which specializes in wood fired pizzas and has a lovely outdoor fire pit and bar. Just past Ember, is the heart of Main Street Harwich Port with boutiques, shops, galleries and restaurants including The Hot Stove Saloon, The Port Restaurant, The Mason Jar sandwich shop, George's Pizza, Bonnat's Bakery and Perk's Coffee Shop. Main Street also includes a gas station and mechanic, two banks, a Cumberland Farms convenience store, a hair dressers & nail salon, a massage wellness center, and a pilates & yoga studio. Cranberry Liquors has an excellent selection of beer, wine & spirits. Two large supermarkets and numerous seafood markets are just a short drive away. Marion's Pie Shop, is a few minutes down the road by car, towards Chatham. The acclaimed Chillingsworth & Brewster Fish House restaurants are just a town over in Brewster. The Freedom Ferry which runs seasonal service between Saquatucket Harbor in Harwich Port and Nantucket Island, is just minutes from Beach Lodge.
