Overview

About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

It's all about the view . Enjoy exceptional long range views well into South Carolina from our mountain top home situated at an elevation of 4500 feet . On clear days expect to see lakes Jocasse, Keowee, and Hartwell. The show continues after dark the as lights come on in Salem, Clemson, Pendleton and Easley.

Our family loves exploring Panthertown Valley with it's miles of trails and 26 waterfalls. Panthertown can be accessed on foot from our property. A short drive will get you to Gorges State Park, Whitewater Falls, Whiteside Mountain, Pisgah Forest, or the Blue Ridge Parkway.

If shopping and restaurants are calling, check out Cashiers, Highlands, Brevard or even Asheville. All are just a short drive away.

When you come in from your explorations of the surrounding area, our comfortable home awaits . On the main level there is a fully stocked kitchen and living area, two bedrooms (one queen, two twins), and one full bath. Upstairs is a bedroom (king) with a deck and full bath . Downstairs is a bedroom (queen) with a deck and full bath . My favorite part of the house is the covered deck with the wood burning fireplace on the main level.

Wow - what a view !

  • 5 of 5

What a great vacation we had at Young at Heart - just what the doctor ordered to get away from the turmoil of a busy life in the sweltering humidity in Florida. The cabin exceeded our expectations - the photos certainly don't do the view justice. We enjoyed hiking from the cabin - and loved School House Falls - but spent most of our time just relaxing out on the deck or by the outdoor fireplace. The view is constantly changing - and seeing a storm rolling in was spectacular - you truly are 'above the clouds'. The extra attention to details - like the monogrammed blankets and kitchen aprons were a really special touch. Manning was a delight to work with - we will definitely be back - our dogs and son insist on it !!!

Great House with Amazing Views

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at Young at Heart! It is one of the best vacations we have taken. The house is clean and has really amazing views. We loved the porches and enjoyed spending so much time outside. The owner was so easy to work with. So many things to do close by-- Great hiking, Cashiers, Highlands, etc.. We have already recommended this area and this house to many people! We would definitely come back!

Wonderful July Stay at 4500 feet

  • 5 of 5

Our second time visiting Young at Heart. The views are breathtaking, the cabin clean and inviting and the owner solicitous and concerned about our experience. A wonderful location to get away from the heat and find some tranquility.

Beautiful House in a Stunning Location

  • 5 of 5

I can't say enough positive things about Young at Heart. The views and setting were absolutely breathtaking. As other reviews have mentioned, the pictures truly don't do the view justice. We all agreed that this was the best vacation home we have ever stayed in. We are typically keenly aware of the fact that we're staying in a vacation home, and that wasn't the case here at all. We were just as comfortable as if we were in our own place. It was tastefully and comfortably decorated and very well maintained/ clean.

Our favorite moment was sitting by the picturesque outdoor fireplace with the twinkle lights on overhead and making s'mores while we watched the sunset over the mountains, valleys, and lakes. The hiking and nearby waterfalls are gorgeous as well.

The place itself is an A+, and working with Manning was the icing on the cake. He went out of his way to make sure we enjoyed ourselves and didn't have any issues. He provided directions, FAQs, nearby restaurants, hiking maps, hiking recommendations, and all of the other information we could've possibly needed. He was a pleasure to work with, which made the whole experience that much more enjoyable. All of the information he provided in advance made me feel completely at ease and not nervous or unsure about a thing in advance of the trip.

We will definitely be back!!! We even talked about making this a yearly tradition.

Mountain retreat

  • 5 of 5

This was our third time visiting the Cashiers area but since our group was smaller this year we looked for a smaller property. YAH was perfect in every detail. We were there with two motorcycles and one car. The road up to the cabin is somewhat challenging with several hairpin turns but it's paved and well maintained. The amenities were very accommodating and the well equipped kitchen made it easy to prepare our "gourmet" meals. This property is literally in the clouds as one overcast day proved. That was the day we all spent reading. On all other days the weather was perfect which provided some spectacular views. Our favorite thing about YAH was the outside covered deck area with fireplace. We spent much time there enjoying a beverage, cigar (with doors closed), and reading or conversation, of course with a fire burning in the fireplace.

The owner was great and very easy to work with. We go to this area in North Carolina to enjoy all the wonderful roads for motorcycling so I can't comment on the claimed fabulous hiking but considering this location I'm sure it great.

If you're considering a cozy, mountain retreat look no further than This property. You won't be disappointed.

Awesome Vacation!!!!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed at this wonderful house. We stayed for a long week end and were amazed by so many things. The owner was an absolute pleasure to deal with and made everything a dream. The communication was great, the house was in great condition, and it had everything we needed. Directions there were good access to the house was handled well all by email and cell phone.

Now the house itself The view is SPECTACULAR! You are so high up on one day we were looking down on the clouds. The porch and outdoor fireplace were incredible. We ate outside, had a roaring fire and some wonderful wine. It was a perfect getaway for us.

This was a five star week end. I was really struck by the attention to detail of the owner and they way he did little things to make the visit seem personal and special. I recommend this one highly!!!!!
