About Brad and Paula Peake

Our family is from Canada, we love snorkeling and scuba diving, and Belize is the perfect place to enjoy our passion. We have only owned Casa Amarillo for three years and have enjoyed helping our guests get the most out of their vacation.

Brad and Paula Peake purchased this house in 2011

Why Brad and Paula Peake chose San Pedro

Our family came to Belize in February 2011 and fell in love with the people, and the laid back lifestyle. After just a few days Brad started looking at properties, we extended our vacation for another week. We looked at many properties, all beautiful. Casa Amarillo was everything we wanted, large enough to house large groups of friends and family, a pool ( being from Canada that is big), a fenced yard so our daughter has some freedom to play safely, our daughter caught her first fish off our dock. Casa Amarillo already has sooo many great times for us, how can we not be in love?

What makes this house unique

Casa Amarillo has on on island Manager, Rosa who can assist you with planning all the details of your vacation. We also have a housekeeper/nanny/cook/masseuse available to provide you with all the services that will make your vacation relaxing and pampering. Our yard and pool area is maintained by Robert who will take care of any details that need attention.

Belize is a delight and Casa Amarillo was perfect

  • 5 of 5

Exactly as the reviews described, not overly fancy but perfect for two families that just wanted sand and snorkelling. Rosa was incredible helping us navigate all the ins and outs of San Pedro and Marfa's cooking made it a real vacation. Will return. Beautiful spot and beautiful people.

Great Vacation!

  • 4 of 5

We just returned from a great stay at Casa Amarillo. We were a family of 11 with 6 adults, 3 teenagers and 2 tweens. We loved it! We rented the entire house and loved the privacy and beauty of the surroundings. We arrived a week after a hurricane hit the island and we were shocked at how well they had cleaned everything and had the house and grounds ready for our group. We rented 3 golf carts for trips into town at Carts Belize and we enjoyed having them. It is a rough bumpy ride to and from town but we just looked at it as an adventure and laughed along the way. Would HIGHLY recommend bug spray for the journey and at night around the house. We had meals cooked for us twice while we stayed. Both meals were wonderful. We had a traditional Belizean meal when we arrived after traveling all day cooked by Robert's sister because Marfa was ill. Marfa also cooked chicken fajitas for us one night after an all day excursion. We LOVED her salsa and guacamole and could have eaten it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner everyday. Robert was great and helped fixed the volleyball net, kept the pool and grounds clean, and arranged for Carts Belize to fix a flat tire we had on one of the golf carts. The house is very comfortable but do not expect a 5 star hotel. There are air conditioners in each bedroom which helps at night when you sleep. The beds are ok but not luxurious. We would have enjoyed a few more towels and beach towels for our party size but we made do. Kitchen was well stocked with plates, cups, utensils, etc.. Wifi worked great indoors and outside and we enjoyed the TV's in the evening so we could watch the Olympics. We enjoyed playing volleyball, sand hockey and relaxing in the pool or hammocks. Rosa was awesome too. She met us right on time at the airport and helped answer many questions we had. She provided a phone for us to use and was a phone call away if we needed her. She made great recommendations regarding tours and excursions. She gave us a book that had many recommendations from local companies and other guests regarding tours, restaurants and also included a history of Belize. Very helpful. Rosa also helped arrange our trip to the mainland for Cave Tubing and Zip-lining. Suya Tours picked us up at our dock for a great morning of snorkeling at Hol Chan, Shark Ray Alley and the Coral Gardens. The rest of the time we stayed around the house having fun as a family.

We loved out time at Casa Amarillo and would stay again!

Casa relaxation

  • 5 of 5

My Mother, my brother, my sister and her husband and I rented the lower level. We loved it. The 3 bedrooms were spacious enough for us all. We loved the private pool! The dock was awesome. My brother fished off the dock and caught us dinner one night. We rented a golf cart and it was handy to go to the stores and restaurants. We went snorkeling and Suya tours picked us up off our dock! The snorkeling is fantastic! We saw nurse sharks, stingray, turtles and even an eel. The coral is beautiful. Thanks to Marfta, Robert and of course the incredibly helpful Rosa.

Good if you need a whole house. Not "Luxury", however.

Pros

We stayed in October 2015. There were 9 of us for a girls trip and this house was great for that. We rented both upstairs and downstairs and the photos were true to life. Nice house, great balcony, a/c and fans, nice dock, nice pool, great outdoor shower, cute place. The owners were fantastic at communicating with us prior-to and there was no problem with the lease, getting refunded in USD, or anything else we saw in other reviews.

Rosa sort of helped us coordinate what we needed. She basically emailed her contacts and said I was interested in xyz, and then left the convo. No biggie but not as 'concierge' as it was made it out to be. The go-cart rental place she recommended was great, and the catamaran people were fantastic. (We didn't actually get to go due to a storm, but they were wonderful about trying to rebook, waiting to cancel, refunding deposit, etc.)

The outdoor shower was AMAZING. It also has the best water pressure. There was very little pressure inside.

Cons

There is a binder of 'things to know' (internet password, places to eat, phone numbers) in the house, but Rosa took it when we arrived so she could update it. We never saw it or her again.

The music system inside and outside did not work. At all. We couldn't get radio or hook it up to our ipod/phone. That was a huge bummer. I would recommend brining portable speakers.

The beds were SUPER lumpy and really need replacing.

The neighbor's kids (4 of them) came over to our property a few times and ran around our pool (while we were in it and hanging out around it). I was fine with it but others were not. They probably should not bother guests.

As mentioned, we had a big storm. This is not a fun place to be when that happens. The electricity at the house goes out (no lights, a/c, tv), so you go to town. It's a 30 minute bumpy ride to get to town on a golf cart in the rain and that gets old fast. The windows were screwed open so we had a flood in the living room a few times. We ran out of towels, plumbing backed up. Everything got fixed, but we still had to deal with a bunch of things while we were there. It wasn't a 'sit back and relax' type of vacation. And I certainly wouldn't call the house "luxurious". Cute but cluttered and needs some deep cleaning.

Overall a decent place. Try to avoid storms :)

Beautiful, clean & relaxing!

  • 5 of 5

I just wanted to drop you a line and let you know that we had such a wonderful time at your Ambergris Caye vacation home, Casa Amarillo. What a beautiful place! We just got home late last night, and we all wish we could have spent more time there. I would definitely recommend your lovely home to anyone thinking of visiting the island. There were 6 in our family and we rented both floors. Worked out perfectly. We had our 4 boys (late teens, early 20's) on the first floor, and my husband & I had the second floor to ourselves. The people on the island are extremely friendly, and the views are simply breathtaking. Robert & Marfa were wonderful and very warm and friendly. They were there to help us out anytime we needed anything, which was such a relief for us. Just knowing they were there helped us all to relax and enjoy everything. Marfa's salsa was delicious & we requested it several times. Robert's sister even came to the house to do corn row braids on my son's hair. And when our golf carts had some issues with a broken part, Robert was right there to get them replaced immediately. Robert keeps the property looking beautiful, especially the pool. The pool was sparkling and clean every single day. You certainly have a winning team to take care of the home and grounds! They helped everything to run smoothly so that we could kick back & relax.

Thank you again for opening your home to visitors. Our boys had a great time, and there was good family bonding time. We did a snorkeling trip & fishing/lunch trip with your neighbor's guide service. Eddie & Edgar were great, and very friendly. My boys got to spear lobster, which they then cooked up in an unbelievably delicious lunch for us on a private beach. We saw a nurse shark, sting ray and crocodile right off the house's dock! (That was awesome!) We visited the Mayan ruins at the south end, and explored all the way up to the north end of the island. Wanted to do more, but we just ran out of time. We thoroughly enjoyed our week there!
