A delightful gem with outdoor hot tub and spectacular views - 1 bedroom, 1 bath
Spectacular views, privacy, and quality define Rock Haven Cabin, which sits on 5 acres adjacent to Joshua Tree National Park. This eco friendly guest house has been newly renovated to create an atmosphere of exceptional comfort, beauty and serenity. In an effort to live more sustainably in the desert we have installed solar power, and a rain water catchment system for landscaping purposes.
This is a perfect place to unplug. You can soak in the private spa while stargazing, curl up with a good book on the patio with a sweeping view of the Park, or cook a gourmet meal in the fully equipped kitchen.
Rock Haven Cabin is small, but furnished with everything one would need. It is very comfortable, well appointed, and perfect for a romantic get away. In addition to the king bed in the bedroom, a sectional sofa with a pull out sleeper in the living room gives sleeping arrangements for a total of 4 guests. The cabin is ideal for two people, or a couple with children.
Luxury linens, including bathrobes and slippers are provided. There is a beautiful, simple to use, wood stove (kindling and wood provided) in the living room, in addition to baseboard heating in both rooms. A new and efficient evaporative cooling system provides comfort in the summer, and there is a gas barbecue outside. There are lounge chairs on the porch along with a wrought iron table and chairs for dining a la fresco.
The private 2-person spa is a few steps from the porch, sheltered by junipers and a large boulder formation. We only use Dead Sea and Epsom Salts in the spa tub, emptying and cleaning it after every set of guests. The water is used on the landscape.
For the adventuresome, you can hike into the park from the cabin, or if you want to explore it more fully, drive to the West Entrance, a half mile away. The park is renowned for its world class rock climbing. It also offers excellent hiking with hundreds of trails ranging from easy nature walks to strenuous mountain hikes.
You can also expect to see local wildlife right from the front porch, and our Joshua Tree night skies are famous for their extraordinary star gazing.
We live in a neighborhood with only a few full time residents in this little cove in the rocks. Because we all respect each other's space, quiet and dark night skies, no events or parties are permitted.
The local area has plenty for you to discover in addition to the beauty of the national park. The village of Joshua Tree is a short drive from the cabin, where you can check out the Park Visitor Center, explore a variety of gift shops and art galleries or hunt for treasures at local thrift stores. There are several good restaurants, a gourmet food store, two health food stores, and a Saturday Farmers' Market. Joshua Tree also has an excellent yoga studio with a full schedule of classes.
The Joshua Tree art scene is vital and eclectic with regular gallery openings and nearly 200 artists living in the area. There is an Open Studio Tour each fall, and many artists welcome visitors at other times by appointment. Live music can be heard almost any day of the week at Pappy and Harriets in Pioneertown, and Joshua Tree holds annual music festivals in the spring and fall. There are also three live theater venues with a variety of interesting offerings.
There is something very special about the peace and spaciousness of the desert, and regardless of the time of year, Rock Haven Cabin offers a wonderful opportunity to relax and unwind in comfort. Our "haven in the rocks" has been an oasis of serenity for over twelve hundred guests since 2010, and we have over a hundred five-star reviews on VRBO and other vacation rental sites.

About Eva Montville
I am a sculptor and had fallen in love with the rock formations in Joshua Tree years ago, always dreaming of living here, but never finding the right place. In 2004, I found what I was dreaming of -- a home nestled in the boulders, on the edge of Joshua Tree National Park. Five years later, when our neighbors mentioned that they were selling their weekend cabin retreat, we jumped on it, as a way to share the beauty and serenity of this unique spot with family and friends. By turning Rock Haven Cabin into a one-of-a-kind vacation rental in 2010, we have been able to offer this exceptional experience to a much wider circle. Some of the things we love about living here are: the dark, star-filled night skies; the quiet, peace and beauty; being able to see forever; the wildlife; hiking into the Park from our doorstep; and connecting with a wonderful community of people in Joshua Tree.

wonderful desert spot - highly recommended
What a lovely little house right inside the park. The owners have thought of every single thing to make the guest feel comfortable and cosy, from the nicely cut firewood to build a fire, to the birdseed to feed the bunnies and roadrunners, to the fresh water for each guest in the little hottub to the delicious coffee they leave for guests. The list goes on and on. This is a rustic but pretty and authentic JT getaway spot. The house is right inside the JT park so exploring and rocks to climb around on are right out the back door. Amazing star-gazing here also. I could go on and on - we loved it. One warning - it might be small for more than 2 people, even tho the living room convertible couch was comfortable and would sleep 2 more.
Beautiful house on a secluded hilltop! We couldn’t have asked for anything more.
What a beautiful spot. It is secluded, but so close to the park and to stores and restaurants. It’s surrounded by beautiful views. We chose to spend one day just enjoying the piece and quiet. The house itself is lovely and so clean and well equipped. It even has an outdoor hot tub, where we sat at night gazing at the stars and listening to the coyotes. Eva sent a neighbor over to welcome us and show us around as she couldn’t be there when we arrived. She came by later and invited us to come and pick veggies from her garden. My daughter had wanted to meet up for a mother/daughter getaway. This was truly the perfect place from which to enjoy all that Joshua Tree has to offer.
Amazing vacation cabin
Absolutely everything about this place was perfect. The location is gorgeous, quiet, and secluded. The view is so expansive from outside and inside the cabin. We saw tons of jack rabbits, many different birds. The whole place, including the spa, was spotlessly cleaned before our arrival. This is a perfect vacation cabin.
If you ever wanted to stay at the most amazing location at Joshua Tree National Park, then this is the place for you. Comfortable well stocked cabin/cottage with the most amazing view. Wake up to glorious sunrises and soak in the hot tub at sunset . After hiking and touring the park for the day, the only place you wanted to go back to is Rock Haven Cabin. Kathy and Eva are extremely attentive and helpful. Would definitely return!!!
Rockhaven is a special, special place within a special, special place. The owners have taken extreme care to provide you the opportunity to find that peace you have been looking for. The house and property are meticulously cared for and the location is prime for relaxing hard.
The Perfect Retreat
Nothing like this perfect spot. Hot tub sunsets and bird seed furnished for morning meal for dozens of quail and rabbits. Right next to park entrance. Landscaping is perfection with all different cacti. This is our return visit and will surely come again. . Thanks Eva and Kathy-inspiring people.
