Upgraded studio, awesome location with parking, wifi, cable and air conditioning.

I would highly recommend. The facily was very clean, easy access, quiet, and modern. It is defiantly worth the money. I have stayed at other locations and this has to be my favorite, specially when trying to stay within a budget.

Perfect place to stay

  • 5 of 5

The apartment is just perfect and has everything you need to enjoy your time on the Island. It's clean, you can easily walk every place in Waikiki and just feel home.

The only thing we kind of missed were some basics like coffee filters or spices for cooking. Well, this is 'complaining' on a very high level - we really enjoyed staying here and highly recommend it!

Truly amazing room and location however…

  • 4 of 5

Cons: The shades are sheer and should be blackout and the AC is a 5000 btu unit which is literally the weakest AC unit you can buy and it has corrosion so there is no way its producing even that much at this point.

Pros: Close to literally eveything, the view-amazing,very clean, Very nice-extremely quiet washer/dryer, beautiful kitchen, super quiet, amazing security, the best parking, and easy freeway access.

Owner's Response: Mahalo for your review and suggestions. As a result, we have added a black-out liner to the curtains and replaced the AC with a new 8,000 BTU unit that will provide a cooler experience for future guests. Again thank for your useful suggestions and positive comments as well. Aloha, Bruce Owner Honu Hale

Fairway Villa condo

  • 4 of 5

This condo unit is located in a terrific spot...close to the beach, entertainment, shopping, buses and groceries. It has everything you need for a short or longer stay. Parking is included which can be a big expense in Waikiki. We also appreciate the washer and dryer in the unit, so convenient. We will be back.

Hard to beat the location and price.

  • 4 of 5

The place was a little smaller than I expected, but still plenty of room for myself, wife and 2 small children. The interior was clean, a couple small cockroaches reported by my wife when we first got there, but we didn't see any after that.

Wifi would definately be a big plus. It's a cheap fix yet a huge win for guests. Also, the range is a bit dated, it's not so bad except the lettering is rubbed off on the nobs so it's not easy to see when something is on or off. Since I'm already in the habit of checking these things when my wife is done cooking or we are stepping out, I noticed the oven did not get completely turned off at one point. The range is fully functional, so even just replacement knobs would be acceptable. Also would be neat if there was a beach care package including maybe a couple snorkeling sets and inner tubes to be used by guests and returned for future guests.

Overall it was a great stay. We were able to see the 4th of July fireworks from the rooftop. Parking is tough in this area so parking included was a huge plus. The location was nice too, close to all kinds of shopping, dining, and actually easier to walk to the beach than to drive and find parking. Our first attempt we ended up parking farther away from the beach than had we just walked from the building.

Also, I had the owners email & cell number and contacted him on a few occasions and he was nice and helpful.

I would definately stay here again and would recommend this place to others.

Owner's Response: Mahalo Chris, We are glad you enjoyed your stay with your family. The parking and location is very convenient. When we come to Waikiki we park at the guest parking and can walk to any point in Waikiki from there easily... a big plus...because parking is very hard to find. I like your idea of a beach package and we will install a few for future guests. We will be moving from our high speed Clearwire internet to Hawaiian Tel DSL and will provide a WiFi router when we do. We have been told people like to sit on the beautiful lanai and work on their computer...why not? Will also replace the knobs on the oven. Great feedback. Hope to have you stay again and do tell your friends about us! Aloha

Honu Hale Review

  • 4 of 5

The VRBO listing was not completely accurate. There is no dishwasher, ice maker, nor WiFi. One has to connect to the modem with an ethernet cable (which was provided). It would have been nice to be able to use my laptop out on the lanai with a wireless connection. All that would be needed is a router to go with the modem. The kitchen had no skillet or frying pan and only one covered pan. There are a number of items in the kitchen area and elsewhere which, I believe, the average occupant would have little or no use for. They only take up space that could otherwise be used for food storage.

I believe that it would be very helpful for the owner to provide such items as washer detergent, plastic wrap, a "Baggies" assortment, and soap for the bath and shower.

The unit was fairly clean upon my arrival although there was quite a bit of dust on some of the surfaces. A few insects (perhaps roaches) were observed but were not a large problem and possibly to be expected in the tropics. One, therefore, must empty the trash frequently.

The biggest asset to the place is its location near a bus stop and a relatively large food market ("Food Pantry"), only one short block away. The condo owner has provided the tenant with a wheeled cart for transporting groceries and other packages. This was very helpful to me because I am a senior.

The owner did check up on me at the end of two weeks to see if I needed anything. I also had his cell phone number and e-mail address, so communication was not a problem. There are no phones in the unit so one must rely on a cell phone; however, the security desk personnel are not allowed to phone the room if the tenant's cell number is not local. I feel that this fact leaves one somewhat vulnerable in case of an emergency (falling, sudden illness or other injury).

Owner's Response: Russ is right on the accuracy. We apologize for the mistake. We are new to VRBO and didn't mark all of the right responses. We have changed those now thanks to Russ. So to be clear....no dishwasher, icemaker or wifi (although we considering adding a router to our Clearwire 4G modem for those might want to work out on the lanai.). We have just remodeled the unit and will continue to make improvements...however we are booked solid until next April so I don't know if we be able to get there until then! Mahalo Russ for your honest feedback...it will help us improve the experience of future vistors to Honu Hale. Aloha.
