Overview

About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms + Loft, 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 4-5)

Beachwood, is one half of a side by side duplex. It offers a reverse plan with two spacious bedrooms & full bath downstairs (you can walk out to the back yard from the master bedroom). The main floor features the living room, dining, kitchen and half bath, with inlet views from every room. There is also a large loft above the living room. The house was rebuilt and remodeled in 2010. It has most modern conveniences including a dishwasher and microwave in the kitchen, a flat screen HD television in the living room, heated tile floors in the main bathroom, and several skylights.

Beachwood has striking views of Ucluelet Inlet and Kvarno Island from most rooms (even the bathroom while you're relaxing in the super-deep tub). The bird watching is incredible as the waterfront is a nature preserve. Tons of herons, eagles, osprey, kingfishers, hummingbirds, swans, etc. We often also see seals, sea lions, bears, and salmon in or near the water.

Beachwood is located on the waterfront of Ucluelet Inlet between the town of Ucluelet and Pacific Rim National Park. We are two minutes from the Wild Pacific Trail, 5 minutes from the town of Ucluelet, 10 minutes from Wickanninish Beach and Interpretive Centre and 25 minutes from Tofino.

Make Beachwood your home while you are exploring the West Coast, Pacific Rim National Park and the towns of Tofino and Ucluelet. Whether you are coming to hike, surf, beachcomb, bird watch, whale watch, storm watch or simply to relax...you won't be disappointed.

Why Joanna Maltby chose Vancouver Island

We fell in love with the West Coast of Vancouver Island in the 90's when we first started coming out to surf and camp. We are addicted to the miles of beaches to explore, the countless waves to ride and the amazing wildlife. We chose to buy here because it is private, quiet, close to town -but not in town and close to the beaches of Pacific Rim National Park.

What makes this house unique

Shortly after we bought the property we began planning a renovation. At that time it was a couple steps up from camping in the luxury department as it was a very old house. In the last 4 years we have rebuilt the home. Now as soon as you enter Beachwood you will be amazed by the jaw dropping view of Ucluelet Inlet and Kvarno Island. The house has hardwood oak floors throughout. We reused much of the old materials in features of the new home. For example, the wood cladding the fireplace is some of the old siding. The decore reflects elements of the West Coast with a sleek modern feel. Artists, designers and nature lovers will fall in love with this amazing place.

Other benefits: The home is family owned. The suites are side by side and are completely private-separate entrnces, driveways, decks etc. The other side of the duplex is owned by my parents. It's a great place for family gatherings. Both sides can be rented together please see vrbo 342944.

Stunning views and everything you need from a holiday home

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here in mid July and had the most relaxing holiday we have ever had. The views from the decking are stunning and the wildlife spotting is something else! While we were there we were lucky enough to see a couple of bears, a racoon, bald eagles, a seal and the local Ucluelet deer. The house is in a really peaceful location and is fitted out to a high standard.

The owner (Joanna) was extremely helpful at every stage of the booking and stay.

We will definitely stay here again when we come back to Vancouver Island!

It is in a lovely location and was a great base to enjoy all what the area provided. Ucluelet had some great walks and scenery and so close to the Pacific Rim National Park.

Beautiful and private home

  • 5 of 5

Really enjoyed our stay here. the property feels very secluded while not really being all that out of the way. the kids enjoyed mucking about on the shore at low tide, and there are a dozen other beaches near by! we really brought more then we needed as this unit was equipped with everything we could want. thank you for a wonderful stay

Great view, well-stocked, comfortable

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely family vacation. The property offers easy access to Ucluelet and the Wild Pacific Trail, but with a remote feel. The view is expansive. We saw lots of bird life from the comfort of the deck, including a resident Osprey and a Sandhill crane. We were able to cook most of our meals with the help of a fully-stocked kitchen and a BBQ on the deck. A high chair was made available to us and a travel crib was offered for our young child. We will definitely visit again!

Comfortable, clean and well-stocked

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week at the ‘Beachwood’ home at the end of October. The first winter storms were starting to roll in, so it was great to know that we would come home to a quiet, comfortable and relaxing place at the end of each day after exploring the beaches, forests and towns.

The vacation rental is located in a quiet neighborhood overlooking an inlet teeming with wildlife. The house is well stocked, providing everything one would need to prepare meals, play games, watch DVDs or simply enjoy the ebb and flow of the tides from the warmth and comfort of the living room. The bed we slept in was very comfortable and the house was very clean.

Joanna was quick to respond to questions and gave us clear instructions on how to find the house and what to do in the area.

The beaches of Florencia and Halfmoon Bay can be accessed on foot from the house via a nice hike through coastal forest. The small town of Ucluelet is a little farther south and Tofino is about a 20-minute drive to the north.

FYI, we took a quick seaplane ride from Tofino over the pristine inlets, forests and coast to the north of it - this is something we can definitely recommend as a ‘must-do’ for a memorable and spectacular view of the area.
