House, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 5-8)
The house is a beautiful, new custom log home of 1800 square feet. It was finished by true craftsmen with hand done, artistic touches everywhere. It has 2 bedrooms; a spacious master suite upstairs with a very comfortable king size bed, a spectacular view of the mountains and it's own private deck out the double glass doors. The downstairs bedroom is warm and cozy with a comfy queen size bed and a wonderful view of the meadow.
In springtime the meadow is covered in yellow and purple wildflowers. Everyday you can see deer, fox, bald eagles, sand hill cranes, osprey, great blue herons and other wildlife that frequent the meadow. You may see an elk one morning while enjoying your breakfast on the deck outside. There is also a fold out sofa in the living room that sleeps two and and a fold out futon couch for two and a twin bed in an all purpose room.
There are two full, roomy bathrooms, each with it's own bathtub and shower. The upstairs bath features a cast iron claw foot tub facing a window where you can watch the pine and aspen trees sway in the breeze while you soak. Very relaxing. The downstairs has beautiful cherry wood floors, a roomy modern kitchen, open living and dining room, a pot belly propane stove and a washer/dryer closet.
Just off the living room there is a large screened in porch where you can swing in the hammock, dine outdoors, or just sit and watch the sunsets and the wildlife go by. Out the dining room door is a big redwood deck to sit on if you prefer the sun on your face. It is truly a special place.

Hi there; I am a single 55 year old woman, I am a professional photographic portrait artist and I own my own studio business. My interests include art, travel, oil painting, photography, hiking, horseback riding, cross country skiing, seeing the world and meeting new people. I am extremely responsible and am looking to rent to people who will take care of my little place in paradise as I would take care of theirs. It is possible for me to meet you at the airport and get you situated for your stay.
Owner purchased this Cabin in 2005
Why Owner chose McCall
My Home is located between Brundage Mountain Ski resort, the resort town of McCall, Idaho, (which is right on Payette Lake) , and Tamarack Resort, the first all-season resort permitted in the U. S. in more than 25 years. Both ski resorts feature snow boarding, downhill, as well as Nordic skiing, snow shoeing, cat skiing and plenty of areas for telemark skiing. McCall hosted the Master World Cup of Nordic skiing, with athletes from all over the world participating, during the last week of January 2008. The McCall area is a land of great adventure for outdoor enthusiasts. It is a mountain biker's paradise, has all levels of hiking available, world class 5 whitewater rafting and kayaking on the Payette river, fishing and boating on Payette Lake in McCall and Cascade Lake in Donnelly/Cascade, first class golf courses, an indoor skating rink and wonderful places for rest and relaxation as well. My home is available any season of the year, each season sporting their different activities.
What makes this Cabin unique
My home is located in the woods in a serene setting of unspoiled natural beauty. It is peaceful, quiet and sunny with gorgeous mountain views, a sky filled with the brightest of stars at night, and just a five minute walk to the Payette river. A beautiful place in the wilderness, yet only a ten minute drive to downtown McCall or downtown Donnelly. I have good helpful neighbors right nearby but far enough away to give you your privacy. Surrounded by endless scenic areas of Payette and Boise National Forests, crystalline alpine lakes filled with trout, mountain meadows, and in the cold months of the year, a winter wonderland with two downhill and alpine ski resorts.

Excellent cabin back in the woods!
Cher is very hospitable and her cabin was a beautiful location and a great weekend away from the daily grind.
Thank you. So glad you enjoyed my little piece of paradise!
Quite, secluded retreat
Beautiful home; very relaxing. A little tight for eight adults but we managed fine. The meadow brings out the mosquitoes but that was most likely the time of year and wet spring. Otherwise, clean, nice & interesting furnishings. Oh, and if you come from the west, don't follow your GPS! Go into McCall and follow Cher's instructions (reverse) coming from the north, down on 55.
I am so glad you enjoyed your stay in my sweet cabin in the woods. Hope I can host your lovely family again some time. The other seasons up there are nice too.
Peaceful artistic haven
I loved this cabin! You can tell the owner has put personal, artistic touches throughout, and there are some cozy places to read a book or have a glass of wine. Big open kitchen, room for more than one cook! Loved the screened in porch and the gorgeous view of nature! Foxes, birds chirping, the smell of pine. It was the perfect hidden, quiet get away and I plan to go back again soon.
do not go in the summer
First off i had to wait until the refund cleared before i wrote this because she basically threatened to withhold the refund if I wrote a review...
The house itself is in decent shape and the two actual beds are clean and very comfortable. The kitchen is very nice and everything worked as advertised. Finding it was a little difficult but not too bad. Lighting was dim but that's just a preference thing not an actual problem.
Upon arrival the laundry wasn't done from the previous renters, the kitchen wasn't cleaned. When i called she said sorry but wasn't even willing to let our cleaning fee go even though we had to clean up after the previous renters. Come to find out she charges a cleaning fee but doesn't have anyone verify the place is live able for the next occupants. If you come to the cabin and it's not ready you just have to make due but it's still your responsibility to have it done when you go.
The area around the cabin had not been trimmed at all so the bugs were out of control. I was told this was a bad year for them but the other house we stayed at after this one had no issues. We all had multiple welts from the mosquitoes all over our bodies and that was just from sprinting from the car into the house(we had one person at the door opening it for everyone and closing it behind us).
The sofa bed downstairs had a mattress so thin that you could touch your fingers through it. The one upstairs folded out but had no cushioning near the head(there was no mattress, you are just supposed to sleep on the unfolded seat cushions). We ended up having to go out and buy an air mattress just to get a good night sleep.
The stairs to go upstairs are so slick and steep our dog fell down them even with the pads she put down(the pads are slippery also).
The stairs out to the fire pit had a loose middle step and both railings were loose in the ground so if anyone went down that wasn't sure of themselves they would have fallen.
The 5 min walk to the river is more of a hike which is not suitable for anyone that is elderly or infirm and not for young children either.
There is only one ceiling fan(upstairs bedroom) and no air conditioning so the house was over 80 deg inside.
We stayed with 6 adults(2 over 60 and 2 over 70) and we ended up having to call and ask to cancel our reservation due to the excessive bugs, not be friendly to the elderly and the excessive heat with no airflow in the house. It didn't cool off until 2 A.M.
This guest complained about several things that were not problems:
. One set of sheets was in the dryer and dry when this guest arrived. This is typical of back-to-back rentals and was explained to him.
. This cabin sits in a mountain meadow, filled with trees, native grasses and wildflowers. It does not have a manicured lawn like a city home. Most guests enjoy the natural setting.
. The woodland cabin has a lovely screened in porch that guests can enjoy during the hour or two each day when mosquitos come out.The renter complained about 2 moths he found inside.
. This guest did not think the sofa beds were comfortable, so I agreed to pay for an air mattress he bought.
. There are rubber mats on each stair to prevent slippage.
. In this area of the mountains, air-conditioning is typically not needed, nor was it advertised. In warmer weather, guests usually open up the windows and use the fans during the cool nights, and close the windows and doors during the day to keep the cabin cool. The ceiling fan was as advertised.
. This guest called and texted me (the owner) several times after he arrived. He continued to do this well into the night (after 10:00 pm). Each time I responded immediately and politely with helpful information. I have the phone and text records. Each time he contacted me he seemed extremely frantic. Once he claimed there was a dead bird in the cabin. It was actually a Christmas ornament with a few pheasant feathers on it. His communication and complaints were so bizarre that I offered to refund his money, which I did. I was very nice and accommodating, but I really was not comfortable having him in my cabin and was relieved when he left. I did not want a person, who I found to display such unbalanced behavior, to write a review. After he received the full refund and cashed the check, he wrote an inaccurate review anyway. (I expected as much, but still refunded his money). I appreciate having the opportunity to set the record straight. This guest cost me over $1,400 in lost revenue, but it was worth every penny to me to not have him in my beautiful cabin.
. For an accurate description of this cabin, please feel free to read any of the other reviews. Thank you!
Out in nature off the beaten path. Unique custom log cabin with peaceful screened in porch
Overall comfortable cabin. It's not technically a three bedroom but a 2 bedroom with a loft. The loft beds are not sufficient for adults. It would be helpful for the listing to remind guests to come prepared with bug spray. The river is great and we saw a bald eagle hunting! The walk to the river is a tad steep for a portion but easily doable for able bodied people. The well water is awesome. We all enjoyed drinking it. Trash removal is definitely inconvenient. I wonder if a trash bin could be placed near the road towards the end of the driveway? The location has no wifi and cell coverage is limited which can be a blessing but also a curse if you need to get work done. It's close to town but plan for 15-20 minutes because your on a gravel road for a portion. Overall a really cool spot to unwind just be aware of all the circumstances.
What a fantastic place to get away and relax!
The home is exquisite. Such attention to detail in the decorating, location, and amenities! Cher bent over backwards to be accommodating to our needs. We enjoyed the hiking, the river, the beautiful sunsets, coffee on the deck, relaxing and reading in the screen porch and just getting away from the city, cars, horns, etc. We definitely would recommend this rental to anyone who loves nature and peace and quiet.
