Overview

About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms + Loft, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 7-9)

This beautiful, comfortable A-frame on Lake Norman is ideal for a relaxed and enjoyable family vacation. The den is large with very comfy leather furniture just right for napping or cuddling. The well equipped kitchen has granite counter tops and ice in the door refrigerator. It is located in the heart of the home, so the cook doesn't sacrifice time with family and friends. However, if cooking is not your idea of vacation time well spent, there are many nice restaurants in the area.

Outside, the lakefront upper deck is 500 square feet and has seated dining for 6 as well as a gas grill and additional seating for soaking up the sun. The equally large patio under the deck features, an additional table with seating for 4, and a comfortable seating area for shade lovers.

Step down to the water with the little ones and catch some bream, catfish and bass- or go swimming from the large floating dock! The waters of Lake Norman are clean and at a comfortable swimming temperature from Memorial Day until mid-September. We have personally enjoyed swimming as late as mid-October. While you're there, put the canoe or one of the kayaks in the water and go exploring the quiet coves and watch the wild life. There are Osprey, Blue Heron and Egret in abundance, and the occasional Golden Eagle can be seen.

If the weather is cold and yucky, just curl up in front of the fireplace and watch a movie on the 50' flat screen television. Just relax and enjoy!

We regret that we cannot allow groups of more than 10 at any time. No parties or events are permitted at this house. Absolutely no pets or smoking at any time.

About Rick

We are a clergy couple in the Western NC conference of the United Methodist Church and are currently serving in Mooresville, NC . We love our Lake Norman home and all the activities that go along with it! We love to boat, swim, fish and just relax and enjoy.

Rick purchased this house in 2008

Why Rick chose Lake Norman

While we were serving in Charlotte, we desired a quiet place to be able to get away from the demands of ministry and we so we purchased the lot in 2003. In 2008, we built this home to live in as long as we were in the area, but also as a retirement home. We have accepted an appointment in a new community, so now we are renting our home to others who, hopefully, will love and enjoy it as we do.

What makes this house unique

We are avid boaters while at Lake Norman, and not just during the summer season. While swimming, water skiing and tubing are great, we have found that the autumn leaves are as beautiful along the lake shore as they are in the mountains. We enjoy dressing for the weather and cruising slowly while admiring the bright colors of fall. Winter is the prime time to catch striped bass, and that is one of Rick's favorite activities.

The house is so warm and pleasant we felt like we were home.

Our family of eight (7 adults and 1 toddler) really enjoyed our stay here. Waking up in the morning to birds chirping in the trees, to watching the sun rise and set on the lake made our visit special. Our 21-month-old grandson found the "Toy Room" almost immediately and we didn't even unpack the suitcase full of toys we brought for him. We had lots of room to just relax, either inside or outside, and everything we needed for meal preparation was right there. There are books in every room--a delight for the voracious readers in our family--as well as all kinds of board games for all ages to enjoy. We will definitely stay here again if it's available when we travel to visit family in the Charlotte area.

First Time doing VRBO!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time renting someones home. The owners made it a pleasant experience. The communication was awesome. The house was beautiful and so cozy. We chilled on the deck which looks over a spacious yard and the water. We enjoyed using the kayaks. Would definitely rent again!

Quiet, comfortable, and relaxing AGAIN!!!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second year in a row to stay in this wonderful lake home. I would like to say "ditto" to everything I said last year...and more! One thing we were fortunate to do this year that we weren't last year and that was to take a boat tour of Lake Norman. It was a beautiful day and the water was as clear and smooth as glass. Some of the most beautiful homes of the rich and famous are sitting lakefront on this enormous lake. We ate at a lakefront restaurant called Rusty Rudder that had delicious food, fun and friendly atmosphere, great view and with our "tour guide" and his beautiful wife, it couldn't have been better.

Again, I would like to thank Rick and Teresa for this wonderful experience and hope to stay at your beautiful, comfortable, and relaxing lake home next year.

Beautiful home

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I, along with 2 other couples, rented this home while in the Charlotte area for the race. After a few bumps in the road upon arrival (!), we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house is beautiful, very comfortable and spacious, and accommodated the 6 of us easily. Everything is very modern, and the deck, where we spent most of our time, is fantastic! Even had some time to do some fishing off of the dock....and actually caught some fish! Woo hoo! The owners are very friendly and helpful and eager to please. I highly recommend this property. Much, much, much better than any hotel you'll find in the area.

Lake front on a beautiful peaceful cove

  • 5 of 5

Count your blessings if you have a chance to stay here! We loved everything about it! The master bedroom is amazing, complete with a sitting area with two comfortable chairs with ottomans and great TV view. The second bedroom has a bed that is larger than it looks and very comfortable. The tv is good and there is quite a large bathroom just next door. We enjoyed eating at Sweet Destinations travel cafe. The best part, of course was the view of the lake from every room! It is a very easy walk, just steps to the water. The deck provides a wonderful peaceful escape from everyday life during the day, evening or night. We are so happy the owners were so kind to let us vacation in their lovely home!

Map

Nascar fans, this is the place for you! Just a short drive to many of the race shops, 45 minutes from Lowes Motor Speedway. The new and exciting Nascar Hall of Fame is 20 miles away in downtown Charlotte just around the corner from Carolina Panthers Stadium and Charlotte Bobcats arena. The Lazy 5 Ranch (a drive through wild animal park with horse drawn wagon rides available!) is about 30 minutes away between Mooresville and Salisbury and is a wonderful family outing. There are several NC Wineries in the region within a reasonable drive, and most offer tours as well as tastings. The Mint Museum in Charlotte and the Levine Museum of the New South are wonderful outings for adults. Both are located in downtown Charlotte. Check out the website for the Blumenthal Theatre in Charlotte if you enjoy live theatre. Many famous broadway productions are presented at this sumptuous downtown theatre. So much to do, and on the lake too!
