About the property

Cottage, 2 Bedrooms + Loft, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 10)

This cozy A-Frame sits in a very beautiful and secluded location but is only 5 minutes from town. It is on 2.5 acres and is directly on a designated ATV trail. Elk, bear, deer and turkey can be seen around our cottage. There is a nice deck outside, which is great for cooking out and at night we have a great spot for a campfire.

The A-Frame has two bedrooms with queen beds and a loft that has two single beds, a double bed and a hide-away bed. This cottage can sleep up to 10 people comfortably. The two bedrooms on the main floor both have window air conditioners. One bath with marble flooring and ceramic flooring throughout the cottage. It is fully furnished with a washer and dryer and the kitchen is fully equipped with a dish washer. It is very rustic inside with many animal mounts.

You are only 5 minutes away from canoe, tubing, boat and jet ski rentals on either Mullet Lake, Burt Lake and Indian River. You are only 25 minutes from Mackinac City, Petoskey, Gaylord, Cheboygan and Harbor Springs, which are great day trips for shopping and site seeing activities. Indian River also has the largest crucifix in the world at the 'Cross in the Woods'. We are also close to many golf courses.

Great Secluded Cabin

  • 3 of 5

This was a comfortable secluded cabin in Indian River. Great for a weekend Getaway. For four wheeling and having campfires this place is perfect! Very close to Mackinac City and Petoskey. Fully stocked with all of the basic needs. Roads were quite rugged and further away from lakes than expected. The beds and towels were cleaned, however, the cabin itself was quite dirty with cobwebs, dust and dirty windows and floors. For the price of the cleaning fee, I would have expected the cabin to be much cleaner than it was.

Awesome Family Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Stayed for 5 days with kids and grandkids. Could not have had a better time. ATV trails were amazing and perfect. Short ride to town, yet secluded as you could ask for. Enjoyed the family pics on walls as well! Really enjoyed your home!

Great Cabin for a Seven - Day Adventure:

  • 3 of 5

Pros: Very clean! Kitchen, laundry and bath has everything you will need. The shower is very nice with excellent water pressure. The beds were very comfortable. ATV trails are amazing! If you need WI-FI you can use the McDonald’s in town. Owners are good about answering the phone when you call. Overall the location is wonderful.

Cons: The cabin is on a "Seasonal Road". It is not maintained by the city, nor by the county. The tiny, uninviting road is littered with tiny yellow flags, branches & debris along with a sign that clearly states the road is not maintained by the city. The many logs and branches will scrape against your vehicle and the road has two deep areas that will scrape the bottom of your vehicle. Go very slow. Only take Brundy road in! Google maps sent on a "Seasonal Road" where our van got stuck for more than 2 hours. The tow truck also got stuck. When we were finally able to be towed out, it did some damage to our minivan. Google then led us to a sign that read “Camp I Don’t Care”. If you see that sign you have gone too far. By the time we found the cabin we lost the bulk of the first day & it was night. Ask about “Scheduled Electrical Power Outage Days". On our 2nd day we were informed they can't help it, don't open the fridge, don't use the water and don’t use the bathroom. We had to cancel my birthday plans to BBQ, celebrate with the kids & ride the trails. We lost another day...we had to leave with the pets & kids it was simply too hot to stay. Too many hunting trophy heads & photos to match multiple moose, deer, boar, and others kills in all rooms. Loft: Lots of carpenter ants crawling all over the upstairs twin bed frame. The Nintendo and PlayStation video games do not work. Second Bedroom: It has an uncovered wall plug so use caution with the little ones. Master Bedroom: The giant moose over the bed might be the musty smell, not sure. The room is very musty & anyone with asthma or bad allergies should not stay in this room if it can be avoided. Suggest leaving the bedroom door open the entire time like we did. Family photos, owner’s bathrobes are hanging on the deer antler hooks on the bed post, as well as other items like it offer a personal touch, but also a reminder you are in someone else’s home. Too many ant traps to count... under the chairs, sofa, by the stove that our dogs & the baby kept finding them. Window AC units are in the master bedroom and the second bedroom only. No AC for those in the loft and main cabin

Relaxing rustic cottage for a weekend away in Michigan

  • 5 of 5

We have been doing a summer Michigan getaway for several years with the kids, and have been moving further into the woods each time. This cottage is rustic and great for a relaxing vacation in the middle of the woods, where you cannot even see your neighbors. The property is cleared, so my kids and dogs were able to run around, and explore in the woods (wild blueberries in various spots). The location is great as it is about 30 minutes from Petoskey, Harbor Springs, and Mullet Lake. The cabin is clean, has a loft and 2 separate bedrooms.

Only caveats is that it is a short run on a dirt road to get to it - we have an SUV and was never a problem, but I can imagine one of my summer cars might have trouble. Also, just like with any forested area, make sure to bring bug spray for delving deeper in to the woods - one of the days we ventured far and found ticks. Otherwise not a problem if we stayed on the property.

Rustic retreat

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed being surrounded by nature. The kids happily explored the woods. The cottage is as advertised. It was nicely stocked with everything we needed. We were a little concerned about the roads in the rain but all was well.

Amazing 10 days

  • 3 of 5

We were looking for a vacation spot that would allow us to ride atv's an enjoy the out doors. What we found was the perfect combination, The cabin was inviting and comfortable and the property offered us peace and quite and when you pulled out of the drive way you were on the orv's trails. You could stay in that woods and ride for days. But you are surrounded by miles of trails to explore with in a 5 minute drive.

The Bridge was only 30 miles north, Traverse City was only 30 miles west Gaylord was 30 miles south. So you are surrounded with all kinds of things to see and do. We took a day trip to Boyne Mountain to zip line again less than 40 minutes. You will not be sorry when you book your stay. It was an amazing time with my family and I would suggest anyone that wants to enjoy a great family experience call and reserve a week. We took 10 days and I wish I could have stayed longer. The owners of this place really have created an oasis and we were very thankful that they did.
