We have traveled to several of the islands and Kauai is truly a paradise island. On my last visit I found a small ice creamery in Kilauea Video store. Made on the Big island with fresh, natural ingredients -Place is AWESOME !!
Why halehanaleibeachhouse chose Haena
We love the Jungle setting and creek in the backyard. Plus the views of Bali Hai mountain and partial ocean view in the backyard. The fruits and greens here in Kauai are incredible. I love to pick some bananas or papaya form the trees.

Comfy and authentic Hawaiian home.
Our family of 4 adult kids and two grandchildren have (regrettably) just returned from a great week in Kauaii. We loved the Hale Hanalei beach house and would've been happy for more time there. The house is just off the main highway, and nestled into a 3 house jungle setting. Orchids, bananas, hyacinths surround the house. It's roomy and comfortable with everything we needed. Three bedrooms with three baths worked great for us - and the bedroom annex was perfect for a young family. Outdoor shower was great for leaving sand and salt outside. The front deck was a wonderful morning coffee and happy hour spot to gather, and a short walk away is a peaceful, beautiful beach with great snorkeling, and no driving required! We saw loads of fish, a stingray, a monk seal, and a turtle. Ocean current is strong but manageable -
The house is in the middle of many beach and hiking options with a nice restaurant and coffee shop just across the street We loved it!
So glad we chose this house and location over the upscale Princeville scene.
Our only negative experiences were fairly minor. We had just 4 beach towels for our 6 adults. Kitchen was clean and well stocked, but definitely
well used also. The front deck screen was torn causing us to swat a few bugs and guard against a friendly Siamese from joining us inside.
All thumbs are definitely up!
Perfect North Shore location!
A perfect home to relax & enjoy. The lanais were large enough for beach friends. Nothing was lacking in the kitchen or rooms. The owner provided beach chairs which saved us the expense. Laundry room a huge bonus with the winter rainy weather. We will definitely return!
Relaxing and spacious
Liked house and location but the beds could be more comfortable and have better blankets. We felt cold during the nights and bedspreads downstairs are synthetic and just made you sweaty and cold. Liked upstairs bedroom the best.
Peaceful setting and a close walk to the beach.
thank you for the feedback.
we do have extra cotton blankets in each bedroom closet.
Comfy family home in paradise
My family of 5 adults (2 couples & 1 single) enjoyed staying at this home. The in-law apartment offered a lot of privacy. Not fancy but nicely appointed to host our family. We made use of the kitchen (electric range) and BBQ for a number of meals. There aren't any views directly from the house but a beautiful beach is right across the road. We appreciated the home's location: 12 - 15 min twisting drive from Hanalei Bay township and 5 minute drive to Napoli Coast track. A random but important element we noticed was the lack of roosters near the house = no early morning wake up calls!
Great House - Fantastic Location - Perfect Service
Our family of four (myself my wife & two teenage boys) just spent 8 magical days at the Hale Hanalei house in Northern Kauai. I would highly recommend this house to anyone interested in this part of the Island.
Exactly as described. The house has a great "feel" to it. The separate Master Suite was perfect for my wife and I, while the boys each had their own room and King-sized bed. The house was well stocked with towels, kitchen utensils, kitchen / bathroom supplies, etc. The lanai in front of the house is where we hung out the most, with nice views of the mountains. A wonderful "beach" house (and it didn't bother us that we couldn't see the beach from the house - it's literally right down the path).
Perfect for us. Some people might prefer the hustle & bustle of the southern part of the Island, but not us... We loved the quite nature of the North shore. Truly a 5 minute walk to a nice beach, and a mile (30 minute walk, 3 minute drive) to Tunnels Beach which is incredible. The "end-of-the-road" at Ke'e Beach, where the Napoli Coast trail starts, is less than 2 miles away. The town of Hanalei, fun to go for dinner on the main street, is about 10 minutes away.
Mike handled everything for us, and was very responsive. Always returning a call or text within minutes it seemed. No complaints whatsoever from our end! It is really nice to rent a place directly from the owner, and not via a Property Manager. Owners (like Mike) care more, and really want you to enjoy their home. It shows, and is worth it!
Don't Stay Here!
This house was filthy when we arrived, many of the amenities listed were NOT in the home (no DVD player, no working BBQ grill), the kitchen items were sparse (no measuring cups, no baking pans, only 2 wine glasses, etc.), the cleaning supplies were insufficient (no sponges, no cleansers, no working vacuum or floor Swiffer), the bed linens were uncomfortably cheap (i.e. plastic mattress pad), but the bugs, particularly the spiders, were plentiful. It was not worth the cost. Also, we had a very difficult time communicating with the owners.
There was a mix-up in the calendar. The guests had an early check-in and the cleaner did not have the home ready. We’ve been renting our property for over a decade and this was the first time it happened. We apologized and gave the guests several options. They opted to remain in the home and wait for the cleaner who showed up later that evening. Follow-up texts gave us the impression things were fine.
In the last month since their return home there has been excessive communication asking for additional compensation. In January, the guests contacted VRBO directly with this same complaint. We responded to the complaint and we remain in good standing with VRBO. This feels like feedback extortion.
