About The Owner

My husband Ken and myself have enjoyed this relaxing cabin with the quiet lake with no ski boats, or wave runners. only canoes, paddle boats and fishing boats. We are in our 70's and our three sets of married children and 11 grandchildren enjoy it also. They are all in business for themselves and can only visit the cabin one week a month. This is why we only rent it for 2 weeks out of the month and we need one week for our kids and one week for us to do any maintenance. There also is a fire pit outside for roasting hot dogs and marshmallows. and telling spooky stories.

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2001

Why The Owner chose Northeast

The beauty of way up north is impossible to describe, so unspoiled and town merchants are all so nice. Township has only 850 full time residents, and all love it up there

What makes this cabin unique

Sitting down on the pier and watching for water foul, seeing the Sturgeron or Muskie jump and watch for deer who live on state owned island across the way. One of our friends who stayed here sat on the pier and thought they saw a dog swim from the island to the pier next to us and when it stood up it was a small black bear, which continued up to the woods and disappeared.

Great Place

  • 5 of 5

We loved our week stay. Used the row boat, canoe and Kayaks all week. Caught lots of fish on Vance Lake and very much enjoyed this cozy/well-kept house to the fullest. Home felt very secluded, but, was only a half minute drive to town.

Great Peaceful Cabin-Wonderful for Kids

  • 5 of 5

This is a great "northwoods" cabin! We spent four days at the cabin exploring, canoeing, roasting marshmallows, breathing in the fresh air and just loving the northwoods. This cabin is well maintained, well stocked, and is perfect for a weekend or week getaway. It is on a beautiful lake with access to a river and also very close to restaurants, grocery stores, and great bars. Our two year old and one year old loved the toys that were in the loft. It is so obvious that this cabin was built with love and that many families have enjoyed it year after year. We are definitely coming back and hoping to make this our cabin up north for good! Thanks to the owners for renting out such a lovely place.

Just what we needed!

  • 5 of 5

After losing our son this past winter, we needed a place that would provide us tranquility and serenity. We couldn't have found a more perfect place! This home was larger than two of us needed, but it still felt very homey and comfortable. It is well maintained and has everything one would wish for. We loved the location, deep in the woods but a short walk down the street was a terrific coffee shop/restaurant, grocery store and several other gift shops. There is so much to do in the area of Manitowish Waters! Vance Lake is very small but you can canoe, kayak or boat for hours through Sturgeon Lake. Fishing was fun; lots of bites but all pretty small.

The whole experience is highlighted by the attention of the owner. Nancy is so caring and available. She continued to communicate with us before and during our stay to be sure things were going well. We would rent from her again knowing she cares about her renters.

We will definitely consider staying here again if the opportunity arises. Northern Wisconsin is pristine and breathtaking. Thank you Nancy for helping us get through a difficult time.

My family and I have been going up to the northwoods almost every summer for the past 15 years. We rent a different house/cabin for a week each year, but after staying at this one we never want to try another one again! This was by far our favorite! We cannot say enough good things about it and we will definitely be back next year! This one is perfect in every way... there is absolutely nothing we would change! We are even thinking of going back up this winter for a weekend getaway. The home was beautiful, so clean and well-maintained, wonderfully decorated, spacious, and had everything you could possibly need and want for the perfect getaway. We had so much fun with the paddleboat and canoe each evening after dinner. The kids were never bored! Nancy, the owner, is so kind, helpful, and an absolute pleasure to deal with!!

Perfect getaway for snowmobiling!

  • 5 of 5

Exceptionally clean and spacious cabin that literally has everything you need to feel right at home. Very warm and inviting. We just got back from staying the weekend snowmobiling. You can catch the trail at the end of the road (like a 2 block equivalent) as well as bars/restaurants and a grocery store. Very much enjoyed our stay!

Fall Weekend Getaway-Breathtaking and Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We immensely enjoyed our stay at the cabin. Thank you! Your house is so warm and inviting! We absolutely love the layout-inside and out. What an enjoyable, relaxing setting. It was so peaceful sitting on the pier watching for wildlife and fish.

The home was so roomy, it had everything we could have imagined. There were clear directions on how to work the electronics, get the house warm and cozy by fire and/or furnace. Even with the brisk weather, it was a very enjoyable walk to town with the wilderness all around us. The directions to the house were perfect. This setting made us forget our work-a true retreat. We will be back for another stay!
