About Pam Jenkins
Pam came to Orcas Island 26 years ago, drawn to the beauty and peacefulness of the island, and has been very fortunate to do what she most loves - teaching kindergarten children and painting. She is now a 'grand' teacher - teaching children of her former kindergarten students, and you'll find her original, pastel, landscape paintings and quilted wall hangings adorning the walls of the Tree House. Thirteen years ago, Pam got to design and help build this home. While not actually a 'tree house' in a tree, the house is perched on a knoll that slopes off on 3 sides. As you look out one of the many windows, you find yourself looking into the trees. The house combines her love of Craftsman-Style bungalows with her desire since childhood to have a tree house of her own. She is excited about getting to share her good fortune in living in such a beautiful place with others.
Pam Jenkins purchased this House in 1997
What makes this House unique
As a landscape painter, I love looking at the ever-changing light on the meadow of douglas fir tree tops below me and the water and mountains. This is a very quiet and private perch to watch the eagles, hawks, woodpeckers, swallows and deer from.

Orcas Tree House
Charming home up high in the trees! Views of the water (far off). Very quiet & secluded.
We were two couples who spent two magical nights at the treehouse. The owner graciously shares her wonderful home providing artistic beauty, whimsical touches, glorious views and seclusion in a peaceful setting. We loved our time at the Tree House. Many thanks to the owner for having such an open heart.
Serenity in the San Juan Islands
My wife and I shared a two night rental of this home with long-time friends, from Vancouver Island, who had found the property on VRBO and made the booking. We have been condo dwellers in downtown Vancouver for the past 11 years and, while we are frequent visitors to Seattle and Washington state, we were looking forward to our first visit to Orcas Island being in a home rather than a resort. We were delighted with this rental. The house is nicely designed for two couples, offering casual shared space in the kitchen, dining area and living room, while offering privacy and separation of the bedrooms and baths. The home was thoroughly clean. Decent towels and lines were included. The kitchen was very well equipped, functional and clean. The dining area and living room are comfortable and inviting, with views over the back yard (regularly visited by deer) and to the ocean. Wi-fi worked well. My wife and I used the main floor bedroom which has a double bed, which might be a bit small for some guests. The upstairs bedroom was spacious. The home is within easy driving distance of Eastsound. Use the owner's excellent directions as your GPS might take you to the far end of the road. Access a short distance via a steep gravel road. We initially contemplated taking our sports car but were glad that we took our SUV because our very low sports car would have bottomed-out on the gravel access road. The location is close to Moran State Park for walks to the lakes and a hike (or drive) up Mount Constitution. Over the past 10 years, m wife and I have rented a number of apartments in Italy and the south of France through VRBO and other sites. This home was much more accommodating, complete and clean than has been our experience with European rentals.
Orcas Island tree-top house adventure
The listing photos & description accurately reflected the property. In fact, the additional things that are not as noticeable in photos - lovely art work, abundance of books, games,CDs, & ambiance of a comfortable home were a bonus. The yard was beautiful - lavender, resident doe & baby feeding, lush greenery.
The actual layout was very comfortable for two couples. The kitchen had everything needed to cook great meals.
The owner made it very easy to rent & get there. Instructions were clear & a well-organized binder covered everything we needed to know.
The house was extremely clean & well maintained. All this made for a very relaxing get-a-way. It was far enough away from "the madding crowd", but not inconvenient to drive
to the island centre, & interesting stores (coffee shop/book store, retro elegant ladies
store, & yummy bakeries). The hiking at Moran park was fabulous.
I am an avid B&B fan, & unique, intriguing places like this are what I look for.
Anyone who is like-minded will not be disappointed if they choose this place for a holiday.
Mountain aerie with amazing forest, ocean sky views.
This was the perfect place for longtime friends to reconnect and relax away from the madding crowds. The home has a peaceful and comfortable vibe with open views of Orcas Island's mountain and ocean scenery. It's a short drive to Moran State Park and the villages on the island, yet isolated from the road and tourists. A day trip on the ferry to Friday Harbor still allowed an early return in time for dinner at nearby Doe Bay Cafe. But we found ourselves wanting to spend most of our time at "home" sitting on the deck, reminiscing with friends and looking out over the beautiful view. Our trip here will be long remembered.
whale watching, deer watching, cat petting, walks around several lakes and hikes in Moran State Park, pottery, cafe and artists co-op
