Beautifully restored 1925 Mediterranean home in the hills above Hollywood. Grand two story entry hall with curved staircase and gallery. Two level living room with, a fireplace, arched ceiling, picture window to the front courtyard and French doors to a terrace at the rear. The dining room has a huge silver leafed cornice molding and a table that expands to seat 12.

Glamorous Hollywood Vacation Home : Secluded on a quiet street, walking distance to the Hollywood Bowl and twenty minutes to everywhere else, this jewel of a home will take you back to the time when movies where still made without sound. While providing plenty of recent technology, this glamorous Mediterranean style residence with touches of Art Deco boasts over 3200 sq ft (300 sq meters) of lovingly restored, beautifully appointed interiors.
Entering the two story entry hall reveals a sweeping grand staircase, a magnificent period Art Deco chandelier and the library gallery above. One can easily imagine Norma Desmond descending-- ready for her close up. The drama continues as one steps down from the spacious entry into an inviting living room with a 12 foot arched ceiling, fireplace and huge arched window offering views of the intimate entry court. At the far end of this room, there are two steps up to a cozy TV seating which was originally designed for the grand piano that entertained guests before elegant dinners.
The dining room (embellished with bold silver leafed crown moldings and a magnificent Deco -inspired chandelier) easily accommodates 12 guests at the empire-style dining table. Beyond the dining room is the heart of the house, an updated kitchen that amazingly still fits the early 1920’s but quietly features a sub zero refrigerator, wine cooler, center island, two sinks, dishwasher, microwave and fully restored antique six burner duel oven O’keefe and Merrit range. Also included here is a sitting area with sofa, side chair, a flat screen television and bar stools. On the second floor are three bedrooms, each with king size beds, en suite bathrooms and flat screen televisions.
Besides the nod to history, dual zone heating and air conditioning, cable TV on five screens and a very fast WiFi connection makes this amazing vacation residence a must for your next Los Angeles visit. The only thing missing is you!

Originally from the Midwest. Moved to Los Angeles in 1987 and love living here.
Douglas Connett purchased this house in 1987
This is a unique home. It is on a very quiet residential street but still close to many attractions in Hollywood and Los Angeles.
Built in the golden era of Hollywood, the house retains the feeling of the day but with all of the comforts we expect in a home today.
This is a beautiful home, perfectly maintained with everything you could possible need for a dream visit to Hollywood. Doug is the ideal host, and made us feel at home from the minute we arrived. The house is in a great location, within walking distance of the Hollywood Bowl and in a lovely, quiet residential neighborhood. The beds are comfy, the kitchen has everything you might need, and the ambiance is fabulous. My only regret is that we couldn't stay longer!
I reserved Doug's rental and was contacted a short while later with details to the property. We texted a bunch of times letting him know the details of my travels and when I would be arriving. I told him I was coming with my 3 daughters and we wanted to try something outside of a hotel because we were going to Universal Studios which was one ext past his. When we arrived Doug came out and greeted us and helped us in with our luggage as he gave us a tour of the home. The home is fantastic and is well appointed. We cooked a few times and went out a bunch we were only there a short time but it was worth the stay. You are in the middle of everything you want to do in Hollywood and in the short time we were there we did all of them, shopping rodeo drive, Universal, Griffith Observatory, Hollywood Bowl, the Chinese Theater and more. I highly recommend this place. Thank you Doug for the great time.
My wife and I have been very satisfied staying in a wide variety of homes using AirBnB this was our first experience using HomeAway.
We stayed with our two daughters for a family Christmas and New Year and were delighted.
Douglas' home is delightful. Exactly as shown in pictures and write up. Everything exceptionally clean and in very good working order.
Douglas was also available with advice and help and very kind and helpful host.
In all the best experience we have had to date, staying with AirBnB or HomeAway.
We visit LA reasonably often and will certainly wish to stay with Douglas again.
First the house: a gracious, well-maintained 1920s-era home, but with contemporary kitchen and baths, on a quiet, yet centrally located street. Perfect size for 2 couples and an adult son. The host: Doug was welcoming, accommodating, and more - checking in with us periodically to make sure all was OK, and supplying us with great amenities. And when I left my backpack in the kitchen after we left for the airport he called to let us know, then rushed it over to UPS the same day to send it back. That's above and beyond. This was truly a host and home away from home.
very comfortable and well-maintained home--great for us two couples
Having rented other places around different places I have to say this house is on the very top of my list. We walked into a home that was prepared by a person who really wants you to feel at home. He is very helpful and had a well kept home which was prepared even up to smallest things that made a difference. Its not like renting form someone who wanted to get a return on his investment. It was like being a guest at someones home when people really cared for guests. The house was comfortable clean well maintained and cozy. My family usually considered the accommodation as a place to sleep after a long day. This house was the one we looked forward to stay in relax as if it was our own home. The landlord is a very friendly and made sure what little requests we had were resolved in the fastest time possible. We look forward to going back to the home away from home.
Hollywood Hills, Hollywood Bowl, Dolby Theater, Pantages Theater, Universal Studios. This home is on a very quiet street but only minutes from Hollywood. Walking distance to the Hollywood Bowl and very close to Universal Studios, Warner Brothers, Disney, NBC, ABC, Paramount. Griffith park, the observatory and LA zoo are close by and there is easy freeway access to downtown or the San Fernando Valley.
