About Lisen

Aloha from Hawaii! We invite you to enjoy our Graeagle home. This is our 'home away from home' where we love to come for something completely different from what the islands have to offer. We live above the Kona coast where we farm organic Kona coffee with the help of our geese, ducks, sheep, dogs and cats. During the summer we enjoy traveling on the mainland in our RV and spending a few glorious days in Graeagle before heading back to Kona for harvest season. We want your stay here to exceed your expectations and hope you'll consider it your 'home away from home' too!

Lisen purchased this house in 2004

Why Lisen chose Graeagle

We chose to buy a house in Graeagle because of the incredible variety of recreation offered for families and couples. The past few summers our kids have been able to experience a top-rated summer camp, just half an hour from Graeagle--Shaffer's High Sierra Camp, where they have mountain biked, wind-surfed, hiked, rafted down rivers, zip-lined through the forest--you name it! They've learned so much and had the time of their lives. While they're at camp, Des and I have the time of our lives, too! We enjoy lots of quiet time, hiking and biking. We'll certainly have to take up golf because this is one of the best places if you're a golfer. We especially love taking a break from cooking and dining in the incredible selection of restaurants nearby. We have fallen head over heels for the friendly town of Graeagle which welcomes us back every year with smiles and 'aloha'.

What makes this house unique

One of the best things about our place is its location--so near to the lovely town of Graeagle, yet so close to the lakes, rivers and hiking trails. In the evenings, we love to walk or bike right from the house through the neighborhood, around the Mill Pond, on Graeagle Meadows Golf Course trails, or down to Frosties for a frozen treat. We can walk through this quiet neighborhood for an hour and not have one car pass us. We love that!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you again for renting your lovely home to us. We had a fantastic trip. It ended too soon. I would have been happy to stay a few more days.

Your home was awesome for the for the following reasons:

- Location was great. It is secluded. It was nice being at the of a cul-de-sac. And it was close to the little downtown. (we occasionally heard the traffic, but it didn't bother us)

- Very homey. We felt like we were at home away from home. Everything was comfortable - the couch, chairs, and especially the beds. All the extra touches were awesome - bird feeders, pillows, decorations, art. It all added to the ambiance, which we really appreciated.

- Well equipped home in every respect. The kitchen had every gadget, pan, cooking tool we needed. Plenty of things to read, play, exercise, bikes. Honestly, best stocked house I've ever stayed in.

- Clean, well maintained home (nothing to report)

I would definitely come back to Graeagle in the future and hopefully you will still be renting this house. We saw that you have a home for rent in Hawaii. We used to go every year, then decided to start venturing out to different places. Maybe one of these years we will go back. If yes, we will take a look at your place.

Thank you again for your hospitality.

Warmly,

Alicia

One of our best getaways!

  • 5 of 5

The home was spacious yet comfortable, and everything was provided! It was wonderful to sit in the living room and look out the picture window at the humming birds and doves. My family and I had dinner on the deck one night with perfect weather and dinners at Longboards which was fantastic and Moon's after driving to Quincy. I'd recommend both! The fenced in yard was perfect for our sweet dog Domino. We had two great lake days at Goose Lake and Gold Lake. We love the Lakes Basin area and will return!

Comfortable and well appointed. Centrally located to everything we wanted to do in the Sierras.

  • 5 of 5

We took a long weekend to do some hiking and check out the fall foliage in the Sierras. We loved the house and can highly recommend it! Great view of the local pond and mountain range. Very comfortable and easy to live in. If you wanted to stay in, there were many things to keep you entertained - plenty of board games, books, magazines and TV. The wi-fi is decent and the kitchen is well stocked for home cooking with all the pots, dishes and utensils you could want. Centrally located to great hiking and wonderful drives. Thanks Lisen and Des for creating such a wonderful atmosphere and your willingness to share it!

Great open space

  • 5 of 5

Had a great time with the family, and enjoyed lot's of cooking there. Great open space from the entry way, through the dining area, family room and patio. The kids enjoyed riding the bikes to store to fetch ingredients. I was surprised at the selection in store, not bad for a mountain town. For those who like to cook, you may want to bring a couple good knives.
