About Cynthia Hale
Cynthia is enjoying retirement and travels extensively.
Cynthia Hale purchased this House in 2006
Why Cynthia Hale chose Quepos
Cynthia has been traveling to Costa Rica since she was 17 and wanted a second home in the Manuel Antonio area. The Chalet was her choice because it is very private, yet located with other single-family homes just a short walk into Quepos (famous for its offshore sport fishing) and a short bus ride to Manuel Antonio National Park. She lives in Quepos and is only a few minutes away to assist guests in all aspects of their stay.

Great neighborhood - great staff - price/value is excellent
Just what we were looking for: a one bedroom cabin. The all-wood interior is beautiful. The bath with jetted tub is 1/3 the size of the cabin. Lovely front porch with two rocking chairs to enjoy the evening and watch for an almost daily troupe of monkeys to come swinging by. House has small kitchen with utensils. Cons: minimal: The small sofa could use updating to be more comfortable. But all in all. We really enjoyed the place and the location near Quepos. Also, be sure to hike up to the Yoga Platform! Great view of the mountains and the city.
Casa Chalet nice place for a couple
This house is located on the Manual Antonio Estates property. It’s a very safe place since it’s gated and have a 24 hours guard.
Since the Casa Chalet is surrounded by forest we have been able to see squirrels monkeys just in front of the house. It’s only a few minutes drive to the Manual Antonio National park.
The kitchen appliances are a little bit old but functionals. There is no microwave available which would be a definite advantage but we understand that there is not too much place for it.
We really appreciate the time spent at the Casa Chalet and recommend that place.
Quiet, Hidden Gem
I hate giving such great reviews for places like this because they can become so popular that we never get a chance to stay again. But this place definitely earns five stars. The contact manager was extremely helpful. This property is in a gated area with a 24-hour guard, so we felt really safe (even though Quepos itself felt safe to us). You can walk to the town or drive to Manuel Antonio, about 15 minutes south. (The park has become kind of a tourist trap and we only got in because we hired a guide). We found that going to the park wasn't necessary. We ended up seeing every animal at the park outside of the park.
And that's why this is such a gem. On our second night, troupes of spider, squirrel and white-faced monkeys moved through the trees. Also, several tucans were hanging out in the trees. One morning, we saw several scarlet macaws flying overhead --- all of these from the front porch.
The property is secluded, quiet and perfect for our needs (it may be crowded for a family, though). Plus, it was very affordable. Wish we had more time to stay here.
It gives me great pleasure that you enjoyed your stay at my house, Casa Chalet in Manuel Antonio Estates. I am very proud of my management services there onsite, and especially Dorit, MAE's rental specialist.
A Wonderful little house that we would highly recommend
Our short 10 day stay was fantastic. The staff at Manuel Antonio Estates were friendly and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience visiting Quepos and the surrounding area of Manuel Antonio. Cynthia was very helpful in assisting us in getting a ride to and from the airport in San Jose. I would definitely recommend staying here in Quepos. We will most likely visit again.
Thanks for taking the time to review Casa Chalet. I am delighted to hear that you had a great time.
Nice private hillside cottage suitable for a couple, all necessary facilities, gated community.
We enjoyed our stay! This is a unique house on a hillside (the steep drive is the only downside) in a forested area on the outskirts of Quepos. Community staff were good. Manuel Antonio park is nearby. .
I am happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay. Casa Chalet is unique and a good value for couples.
Love the location but have some suggestions for improvement
We recently spent 2 1/2 weeks at this property in Quepos and thoroughly enjoyed the location of this property. We have been VRBO members for 5 years and have extensively booked properties in the US, Europe and Costa Rica and only booking those rated 5 stars This property was rated 5 Star although ratings were a bit stale. We try to leave detailed and balanced comments since we rely on such comments ourselves. All of our hosts have rated us 5 stars after our stays. The pluses for this property; 10-12 minute walk to Quepos /on bus route to Manual Antonio and only 325 colones /situated in the trees and lots of nature /good bed /nice deck with rockers to watch birds & monkeys /trails and waterfall in area /good shower /good air conditioner /good internet/ Jorge was a great host! Suggested improvements;Safe did not work which was important to us.(Jorge tried to get it serviced without success;also advised owner but never fixed) /kitchen drain ran poorly/ light over entrance steps never worked making it difficult in evenings/ outdoor shower didn't work/ electric outlets don't accommodate 3 pronged grounded plugs for charging appliances. We needed to find an adapter in Quepos/ the property seems tired and needs some TLC ( in context of previous comments along with floors and counters need to be refinished ).
We were disappointed that our host was terminated several days before we left. He provided us with such great information about Costa Rica and things to see in the area. We found the situation uncomfortable and wonder why it was done when we were only there for a short time longer
We think this property has much potential but cannot rate it 5 star, Hope these comments are accepted in a constructive manner.
Casa Chalet is under new management for exactly the reasons you noted in your review. My manager, Jorge, was very charming but was incapable of maintaining Casa Chalet in the manner required. I tried numerous times to get him to have lights fixed, the safe lock repaired, woodwork varnished, etc. I can now report that these matters are resolved.
Here you will experience an adventure vacation in the tropical forest, surrounded by Costa Rica’s most beautiful natural environments. It is the natural habitat of species such as the Titi monkey, white faced Capuchin monkey, howler monkey, three-toed sloth, and numerous bird species such as mccaws and toucans. For human contact, walk into the quaint village of Quepos, a center of sport fishing and enjoy the quaint shops and restaurants of an authentic Costa Rican town.
Minutes from the most visited national park in Costa Rica - Manuel Antonio National Park. Gorgeous beaches that are outlined by mangrove and coconut trees for shade. Arts, crafts, restaurants right on the beach! I can book for you numerous tours and activities (see above)
Other Activities: kayaking, zip-lining, fishing, boating, parasailing, wildlife viewing, horse riding, spa, jet ski, ATV, rafting, kayaking, etc.
