This is our home; we live here and rent it when we travel. The large apartment is one of the most comfortable and private at the Mauna Lani Point. It's unit F-106: a ground floor, end unit, with no steps to enter, and breathtaking ocean and sunset views across the Mauna Lani's south golf course fairway. It's very well furnished; with custom sofas, tables and chairs; hand crafted Hawaiian Koa cabinetry throughout. There is an open, gourmet kitchen, with free form granite counter-tops, high end appliances and all the utensils, gadgets and spices a chef could need. There is both indoor and outdoor dining; with ceiling fans in each room, and central air-conditioning, should you need it. The Master King Suite has an adjacent custom built office which looks out at the ocean and sunsets. There is broadband Internet connection and wireless service in every room. The second Suite has a Queen size bed, desk and smart TV, a bath and shower, and is very comfortable for your guests or children. About Ira Leitel

We have lived at the Mauna Lani Resort for more than 25 years. The apartment is our home; it has been professionally renovated, decorated and remodeled several times over the years. It is a ground floor, end unit, with no steps to enter; very private and surrounded by lush landscaping, gardens and sweet smelling flowers. We travel when we have a rental.

Ira Leitel purchased this condo in 1988

Why Ira Leitel chose Kohala Coast

We rent the apartment while my wife and I travel, usually in the Winter, Summer/ Fall. This is a very comfortable, elegant unit with great sunset ocean views and lots of privacy.

What makes this condo unique

There are no steps to enter or leave. The recreation area is very close by and was completely renovated. There is a pool, Jacuzzi, sauna, 4 BBQs, an ice machine, tables and chairs, a complete kitchen, as well as entertainment and seating areas. There are miles of paths for walking, jogging and bicycling throughout the Resort and along the coast and through the ancient Hawaiian ponds. A fitness center with spa, weight training, exercise classes, lap pool and steam rooms is nearby on the Resort; there also a a lovely tennis facility with a stadium court - where the Davis Cup was once played - and 6 other night light court, along with a shopping center for all your grocery needs and additional restaurants and shops. Of course there are two great world class 18 hole golf courses on the property.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"After many visits to the islands, I believe our favorite spot is the Kohala Coast and we particularly enjoyed staying in your lovely home. It was very comfortable and well equipped. We saw several great sunsets and great whale watching, due to the outstanding view. The stars at nite and the quiet atmosphere were memorable. We also, obviously, enjoyed the private beach, dining at Nepua, the pool, hot tub, and barbequed almost every day. It's still a marvel how they get those grills so clean everyday. We enjoyed your library and I wish I had seen the book on Jewish Lawyer Jokes sooner. Hopefully, next trip. We are contemplating a return in Jan '16 but will provide plenty of notice and see if it works for you. Thanks for the prompt refund. Sincerely, Greg & Marilyn"

User-friendly!

  • 5 of 5

This beautifully decorated and truly well-equipped condo has everything: gourmet kitchen, beautiful sunset views from lanai, great shopping close by, and access to the private Mauna Lani Beach Club with its lounge chairs, fabulous snorkeling, and great restaurant with live Grammy-award winning music. I loved that everything we needed was available without having to drive beyond the Mauna Lani Resort! It was a perfect fit for our family of four, including my 90-year-old mom. The owner is a delight to deal with, and we will definitely consider coming back to this property.

Refunds without a problem

  • 5 of 5

I arranged a rental with this property and the proccess was flawless. However, after I had made the reservation, paid our deposit and was ready to go I discovered I had made a mistake as to which island the property was on. After I contacted the owner and explained the situation and without hesitation, they immediately agreed to refund my deposit. Now that is great service. I will definately be looking to book this place on my next trip as a result of this kind gesture. Thank you

Wow, this place has everything

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed here in the summer. It was wonderful! We loved walking to the beach; the ocean was warm and clean, and teaming with tropical fish throughout the protected reef. We had lunch and dinner at Napua, the charming restaurant overlooking the beach and Maui across the channel.

I'm a golfer and tennis player, and I was in heaven. There are 2 eighteen hole, world class courses at the Resort, and the Racket Club has a stadium court where they once played the US Open. There are 5 other courts, all night lit for playing after the sun goes down.

The large apartment is beautifully furnished, both indoors and out. It couldn't be more inviting and comfortable. We appreciated the single level and the step down, sunken living room. Frankly, this place is more comfortable than a 4 Seasons suite. The view over the fairway, looking out at the ocean and fabulous sunsets, made for perfect photos just before sunset when the light was great. We like an expansive, gorgeous view with luxury and privacy: this place has it all.

We really enjoyed our stay in this Hawaii paradise!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I are returning home after thoroughly enjoying our stay in this lovely home by the ocean. The Mauna Lani Resort has everything: 2 great 18 hole golf courses; a wonderful swimming/snorkeling beach with a nice restaurant for lunch and dinner overlooking the beach, nearby restaurants & shopping. The apartment was beautifully decorated with very comfortable furniture, a wonderful, open kitchen, stocked with everything a gourmet cook could ask for. We really liked the soft colors of the walls, the art and flowers that surround the gardens. We ate outdoors on the lanai often so we could enjoy the sunsets and whales leaping nearby as they swam along the coast. The Master suite and bath couldn't be more comfortable and luxurious. I enjoyed soaking in the deep tub; my husband liked the office and the large HD TV suspended for the easiest viewing angle. It was really private, and all you hear is the ocean, birds, and the swaying palm trees.

My husband and I spent a wonderful week in this luxurious, comfortable and very private residence

  • 5 of 5

This apartment is rented only when the owners travel. As a result it's much better furnished and docorated than your usual vacation rental. The lanai furniture is Brown Jordan, and couldn't be more comfortable. There is original and very tasteful art in all the rooms. My husband loved the King size bed and the 55" smart TV on the wall on the Master suite. I had to pull him out to go walking to the edge of the ocean to watch for whales, a short stroll away. It is very private with breathtaking sunset views from the lanai. Being a ground floor unit there are no steps to navigate, and the living and bedrooms are wall to wall carpeted and then covered with lovely oriental carpets. From the rear lanai you can walk out on a heavenly lawn that overlooks the 13th Fairway of Mauna Lani Resort's famed south course, and the Pacific Ocean.

The kitchen is custom built with the newest appliances (SubZero, Frigidare, and Wolf) and custom Koa cabinets. Every thing the gourmet cook could wish for is provided.

There is a wonderful swimming and snorkeling beach a short walk away. If you want a peaceful, lovely vacation, with perfect weather, this is the right place.

Not great

  • 2 of 5

The location is fine, however - needs a serious DEEP clean. Spots all over carpet, THICK dust in virtually every corner and under furniture. The fact that the owners have 90% of the drawers and closets full leaves little choice except to live out of your suitcases. (opening a bathroom drawer to put things away to find it FULL of men's underwear, and the one below FULL of socks is not good). The master closet was so full there was little room to hang shirts and my wife's clothing, and shoes and stuff all over the closet floor. NO iron, so buy one - like we did.

There were items in the refrigerator that had expiration dates close to TWO years ago - not a huge deal to throw them away, but....gross. Sticky goo all over the kitchen counters that had to be scraped off with a spatula. Patio furniture very worn and not comfortable.

In short, the unit needs a serious makeover, and CLEANING.

Owner's Response: We were saddened by this review, coming 1.5 years after the rental. Our ocean front unit is our home, we make that very clear. It is not a sterile rental unit. So you can find our clothing in the drawers. However we always leave one large closet, several drawers and abundant shelf space vacant for use by our guests. There is never a need to 'live out of a suitcase'. Because it is our home, you will find condiments, coffee, jam and many other non-perishables in the refrigerator. We leave these things as a courtesy so our guests don't have to buy things that they will not consume completely and waste money. I am sorry if anything was 'out of date'. We have light wall to wall carpeting in the bedrooms and living room, covered with several oriental rugs. The carpets are regularly and professional cleaned, as is the entire unit especially just prior to any rental. We've replaced all the lanai furniture 6 months ago with lovely and very comfortable outdoor furniture. We frankly never use an iron. Certain clothes are sent out for dry cleaning; other things are washed and dried, but not ironed. We just don't iron clothing in Hawaii. However there is now an iron for those who cannot wear an unironed T-shirt or shorts. We assure you that you will find our home very clean, very well maintained, and very comfortable.
