Overview

About the property

Lakefront 5 BR 3.5 BA home, sleeps 13

The striking lake view hits you immediately when you open the front door and step into the grand entry. This beautiful, custom designed, custom built home is on a deep water cove on Lake Keowee. This home resembles a lodge with its post and beam construction, soaring stone fireplace, hardwood floors, 22' ceilings, Mission style furnishings, and lots of glass for lake views. The main gathering room is 32'x25' and has a comfortable seating area with two leather recliners, a queen sleeper sofa, oriental rugs, and an art carved coffee table. Enjoy the large screen cable TV, DVD, CD, tuner, and Bose surround sound speakers. (There are enough remote controls to challenge even the best of 'surfers') The large 'lodge' room also 'sports' a game table that flips to poker, bumper pool, or an additional dining/board game table.

Games, books, CD's, DVD's, and playing cards are available. There is also a large 'memory board' with pictures of former guests. (Please add some pictures of your group)

The gourmet kitchen has a 5'6' island and is suitable for several cooks as well as everyone else who always seem to hang out there. Two sinks, walk-in pantry, and commercial ice machine complete the list of well-appointed appliances. Table service for 16 and all necessary kitchen utensils and cookware are included for your convenience. Farmhouse table seats 10-12. Adjacent screened porch has another table for 6.

On the main level can also be found the master suite with a king size cherry bed handmade by the owner himself. Relax in bed with a private TV. The adjacent screened porch has a couch and rockers for 'chilling out'. The master bath has dual height vanities, a whirlpool lounging tub, and a large shower with 2 shower heads for 'partnering up'.

The recirculating pump makes waiting for hot water a thing of the past.

The upper level has two suites separated by a 32' open balcony overlooking the lodge room. Each suite has two bedrooms and a tile bath. This arrangement makes it suitable for family reunions, company retreats, or just the desire to spread out.

The 2 level boat dock has two jet ski ramps and room for a boat. The upper deck is for sunning and watching the kids perform ski tricks. The cove is large enough for skiing but quiet enough for swimming and floating. Lake Keowee has 300 miles of pristine shoreline. Its a short distance the the Keowee Marina where boat rentals, an outdoor bistro, and evening entertainment are available.

We have tried to think of all your needs so your vacation can be as relaxing as possible. Along with the standard kitchen appliances: oven/microwave, french door ref./

freezer, dishwasher, commercial ice machine, compactor, disposal) we have supplied the kitchen with an automatic coffee maker, toaster oven, waffle maker, blender, hand mixer, spices, a starter supply of dish washing liquid, dishwasher detergent, and paper towels. The laundry room has a large capacity washer and dryer, built-in ironing center, cleaning supplies, a starter supply of detergent, and fire extinguisher. The baths have hand soap, toilet paper, tissues, and linens (please bring your own beach towels). Bedrooms are equipped with ceiling fans, quality mattresses, and high count linens.

In the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains is Sencea, SC, a progressive little town within a larger fun-filled area. This area includes 3 major lakes, 4 state parks, a national forest and Clemson University. Water sports of all kinds (fishing, boating, skiing, sailing, jet skiing, swimming, and tubing, just to mention a few) are the most popular tourist draws.

this was almost HEAVEN...in South Carolina.....we had the MOST RELAXING trip ever at this house. Working people have had a major problem "getting back in the working mode" after being this relaxed and kicked back. The screened porches are great...with the lake view...lounging on the dock......peaceful.....very accomodating to most everything...the lake is beautiful...we WILL go back....our crowd has talked about an ANNUAL trip...and very worth it....THANKS to Rick and Marcia. Went into Seneca and saw a great Beach Band and downtown "festival" while there......great grocery shopping....and some neat places to go...even Greenville is not too far away!!!!!

Graduation Gathering was Welcome Family Retreat

  • 5 of 5

Lakepoint Lodge perfectly accommodated our family from a variety of states gathered to celebrate our daughter's graduation from Clemson University. The house is beautifully sited with a view to the lake just as described. In fact, we found everything as pictured and described.

The layout of the house suited our multi-generational family gathering by allowing privacy as needed and wonderful spaces for enjoying conversation, cooking, and games. We socialized inside, on the screened porches and wood deck, and on the boat dock. The five bedrooms with adjacent bathrooms were an excellent arrangement. The large, open kitchen and dining area were wonderful for food preparation and eating. Even when we had four to six "cooks" in the kitchen there was ample space to prepare meals and serve them buffet style. We also found nothing lacking in the way of cookware, utensils, serving dishes, hand towels, dish towels, etc. The gas grill proved useful for preparing hearty grilled meals. For our family who likes to cook together, this was an ideal setup. :)

As a whole, our family could not have been happier with the location relative to CU, the lakefront property, the amenities of each room, and the overall comfort and quality of the home. A couple of concerns I brought to the owner's attention while on site received an immediate helpful reply that reassured me communication with her was welcome. She even followed up after our stay to communicate with me further on my inquiries.

I have no hesitation to recommend this property to those who will treat it with respect and enjoy the benefits of a quality home that is maintained exceptionally well. If your child will soon be graduating from Clemson University, this is a conveniently located ideal setting for creating family memories while celebrating a major accomplishment.

Great House and Location

  • 5 of 5

We spent a wonderful week with our daughter and her family at this beautiful lake house. The house was well furnished and in good condition. The four bedrooms upstairs were perfect for our daughter and her husband and two young children. We also had a single guest in during the week and there was plenty of room. My wife and I stayed in the lower, main floor master bedroom so there was good separation for everyone. The house has a large great room with floor-to-ceiling windows affording good lake views as well as two screened in porches on the lake side (with ceiling fans). The house has a large dock, with an upper sun deck and room for our rented pontoon boat. The location on a quiet cove hear the southern end of Lake Keowee was very convenient to the Lake Keowee Marina and restaurants and stores in Seneca. We would not hesitate to rent this house again if we decide to vacation on Lake Keowee.

We found the property to be in greater shape.

  • 5 of 5

We had an incredible week with our two sons and their families. Plenty of space for all the grand children to play. Beautiful place, beautiful setting , and very reasonable rate. Despite your forewarning of a previous renters complaint of insects, we did not experience the claim they made. Your upfront warning and honesty was deeply appreciated. We will be back.

One to avoid

  • 1 of 5

We have visited Lake Keowee every summer for the last ten (10) years. This was the worst house we have ever rented on the Lake, both in terms of facilities and cleanliness. Stay away from this property and this owner for the following reasons:

1. The description of the property as authored by the owner is overstated and exaggerated. The property is very aged and needs considerable updating. The towels are hardly "luxurious" and the bed linens are not "sumptuous" as claimed. The boat dock is in disrepair with loose and flimsy railings/handrails. The overall floor plan of the house is poor. The kitchen/dining area of the house is on the lower level so every trip to the market requires all groceries to be brought down 2 staircases. Every time trash needs to be taken out, it must be carried up those stairs. The top step on the second set of stairs is awkward, narrow, and is an accident waiting to happen.

2. The house had a serious cockroach problem during our stay. Many cockroaches were present throughout the house to include the "lodge room", the bedrooms (both upstairs and downstairs), the bathrooms and the kitchen (even inside the kitchen cabinets). On more than one occasion, a kitchen drawer was opened, only to find one or more cockroach running around on the dishes, pots and pans, and/or silverware. Needless to say, we purchased our own plates and utensils for the meals we ate in, and went out considerably more than we typically do. While the owner did send a fumigation complaint out to spray after our complaints were made, this only seemed to make the situation worse. The owner claimed she had "no idea" of the cockroach problem and denied ever having such a problem in the past. However, when the cleaning crew arrived at the end of our stay, they commented that it was "routine" for them to find cockroaches in the house.

3. The owner was not immediately responsive to our calls for assistance regarding the cockroach problems. Once she became involved, she was difficult to deal with. At the end of our stay, she offered to reimburse us for our "trouble", thinking a $160.00 refund was "fair", and then even backtracked on that. Nothing has been reimbursed to date. Making matters worse, she then claimed we had damaged the oven, and submitted an insurance claim to have the oven replaced, which apparently has been rejected by the insurer as non-meritorious.

Overall: Great vacation spot on the Lake, just not this house.

Owner's Response: In over 10 yrs. of renting our house, we have never received a negative review. In those years, we have consistently made improvements and upgrades including the deck, the appliances, and the linens. The decking and rails were upgraded to composite and vinyl 3 years ago. The high end linens and towels were put into service in 2015. The tenants called and informed us that the palmetto bugs (a common water bug in SC) were a problem. We immediately called the pest control provider and discovered that the service was completed the week prior to this rental. When we requested that they go back and treat again, they said they couldn't go for 4 days. We called other providers and found someone who could go the following morning, which they did. We changed service providers as a result of this in order to accommodate the tenants. The tenants who came the following week did not report any problems (see the review). I offered to reimburse the current tenants the cleaning fee but they were looking for a 30% reduction in their complete rental! After these tenants left, we received disturbing reports from the neighbors, the renters who followed, and the cleaning crew. We discovered that the police were called out during their tenancy due to excessive noise and fireworks being discharged from the dock late into the night. More disturbing was that our boat, full of gas, was sitting in the slip of the same dock. The firework debris was just let on the dock for the next tenants to deal with! Our 3 yr. old oven/micro combination was damaged beyond repair. We filed a claim with the insurance which was initially denied because the tenants claimed the damage was not their doing. After the cleaning crew sent an affidavit and pictures of the oven before and after their attempted cleaning, that claim is now being reprocessed. Neighbors said that the house seemed to have lots of teenagers and there didn't appear to be much supervision. As a testament to that, water bottles were thrown up into the exposed wood beams and left there. Who treats someone else's house like that!? We feel that our description is accurate and that the reviews bear that out. Thanks for taking the time to read our response. Marcia and Rick Grant

Map

Lakepoint Lodge is located on a large deepwater cove, on a quiet street. Although the street has less than a dozen homes, it is located off Hwy. 188 which is a main connector to Seneca, Clemson, and Walhalla. A boat launch is only 2 miles away. The Keowee Marina is a short 5 min. boat ride or a 10 min. car ride (for gas, supplies, and cafe). The Marina also hosts bands and dancing on summer nights. Its a great destination for an evening cruise. There is a new restaurant (2016) called the Lighthouse which can also be accessed by car or boat.

Golf: Table Rock State Park has nature trails, picnicking, and beautiful waterfalls. Sumter National Forest has hiking trails, waterfalls, lakes, and streams. Clemson University is only 10 miles away and has all sorts of athletic and cultural events and a 208 acre botanical garden. Whitewater rafting is available on the Chattooga River. The specialty shops on Ram Cat Alley in Seneca provide a delightful way to spend the afternoon antiquing and hunting those one-of-a-kind items. Several golf courses and a large tennis center with fitness facilities are nearby. Seneca, Clemson, and Anderson have all kinds of restaurants to satisfy all kinds of tastes and budgets. A mult-screen theatre, bowling alley, banks, hospital, churches, grocery stores, and drug stores are just minutes away.
