About LuAnn Callaway
My name is LuAnn and I am a psychotherapist in private practice in Atlanta, Ga. My best friend is Deb, is the Director of Nursing at a hospital here in Atlanta. I had visited Seattle on business and thought it was beautiful. During the summer of 2006, I decided to take a sabbatical from my practice to rest and finish writing a book. My husband, Sid, was going to be busy for several weeks of the summer. My son, Jacob was going to be in Army Boot Camp. He has safely returned from a one year deployment in Afghanistan and has gone back for a second deployment now. We would love for you to pray for him. Deb came to visit me in 2006 and we decided to try to find a place to buy on the island. The cabin was scheduled for the wrecking ball. The ball is still in the front yard. We decided to rescue the lovely old structure. We also found that if we wanted it done on budget and on time, we would have to learn to do it ourselves. It took three years. We flew out from Georgia at least 8 times a year and stayed as long as we could. Sometimes it was like Laurel and Hardy! Sometimes it was like Bob Villa and Norm. We learned how to work 16 different saws and other electric tools, not to mention the hand tools. I went from high heels to steel toed boots. Deb went from business suits to bib overalls. We are both over 50 years old, so this was a real stretch. Sometimes we still can't believe we did it.
LuAnn Callaway purchased this Cabin in 2007
Why LuAnn Callaway chose Greenbank
We wanted a place on the west coast. Washington is clean and beautiful. The color of the ocean is indiscribable. The fishing in the fall is amazing. Many fishermen/women have pulled 14-28 pound salmon from the shore. We hope to fill our freezers up this year. Most islanders have 600 pounds in their freezers by the end of the season. Fishing off the shore is what most people do. You can take your frozen catch onto an airplane if you pack it in dry ice and put it into a regular cooler, no styrofoam allowed.
What makes this Cabin unique
When my husband and I come to the cabin it is a time to really concentrate on each other, with few distractions. When Deb and our other girlfriends visit, it is a time to laugh, talk, cook or not cook, stay up late to watch movies or read. We dance, sing and pray together. There are so many amazing sights to see on the island. Greenbank is centrally located, making this the perfect vacation base for visiting all of the charming seaside towns in either direction.

The home was perfect for our stay. We enjoyed the quiet peacefulness of life away from the city. It had everything we needed and then some! I'm already looking forward to going again. Incredible.
Great litlte get-away
This is second time my wife and I have stayed here. We just love it!! Sitting outside in the morning with our tea, listening to & watching all the wildlife around us. ( Sunday morning we had it all--Deer, rabbits, squirrels , owls , hummingbirds & of course the robins ). It's nice & quiet, although you do hear a bit of the traffic, but nothing to bad. It's a great little place to stay, if you want, you can bring what you need & hunker down for your duration for some R&R , or you can explore a little bit of the surrounding area ( by car ) for farms, festivals or some of the nearby towns & just walki around .
Lovely Whidbey forest get away
Wonderful woodsy escape, very sweet and cozy. Beautiful cabin that is clean and well cared for, you'll feel like you are stepping back in time.
Cabin in the woods.
If you like early time living, this is a must see. The old time charm is wonderful. There are humming birds that feed on the two feeders next to the cabin. You are away from everyone, approximately one mile off themain road. There is a fireplace inside and a wood fire pit outside. This is the real deal, We give it 5 Stars.
Amazing! The birds, the peace & the cabin was wonderful!
The property so private & so captivating.
My husband & I enjoyed a time of connection & renewal.
Delighted to stay at such a peaceful, serene location - with all the comforts of home.
Trails to South Whidbey State Park, which is where the beautiful beach on the West Side of the Island is located. Sunsets, snorkeling, hiking, views to San Juan Islands. There is a compass in the cabin in the kitchen. Stay West and you will reach the state park and you can walk down the trail to the beach.
