Just how does one begin to tell a centuries-old story... of color, dust, intrigue, cowboy bar fights, wagon wheels creaking, church bells pleading, beguiling scents, seductive stories and passionate adventures?
Without saying, there are a million such secrets and tales from beckoning ghosts on this particular street – the oldest in America and certainly among the most exciting and compelling – which repeatedly stands out above all other calles and boulevards from lesser travels across the globe. This is Canyon Road – the heart and soul of Santa Fe!
As you pass the famous restaurant Geronimo, swing by El Farol (the oldest bar in town)and stroll by the final art gallery and the fantastic tea/coffee house across the street, the road narrows and a long wall with an inviting arch way emerges among tumbling lilacs and rose blossoms. Welcome to 906 Canyon Road...
If these two-foot-thick adobe walls could talk, they’d read like the pages of a Gabriel Garcia Marquez novel. Over one hundred and fifty years of celebration, inspiration, cultural diversity, creativity and imagination have lovingly transformed this historic adobe compound into an enchanting residence of unequaled style, beauty and character.
THE MAIN HOUSE...
Awarded “Santa Fe’s Best Remodel in the Historic District” in 1995. Passing through the main house’s inviting, rose-draped archway and entering the front door is like stepping back in time. A century-and-a-half of perfectly-preserved architectural wonder!

I think the title describes it all, a sanctuary where you feel at home. This was our 2nd trip to Santa Fe this year (2011) and our 2nd rental from Annie and Garrett (different property). This home was the perfect winter retreat in December. We were fortunate to have a light snow one of the evenings on our trip and it was really nice to be able to go out the front door and onto Canyon Road. We strolled in the snow and dined less than 100 yds from the house. Afterwards, enjoying a warm fire in the expansive living area of the home which used to be an old dance hall. We vacationed with another couple and the design of the home allowed for each couple to have their separate spaces while still enjoying the time together in the remainder of the home. Mornings were particularly nice as we sat with coffee in the separate sunroom of the house and discussed the previous days outings. In addition, there is a terrific coffee and tea house directly across from the home that is open at 8am (they take call in orders which is particularly nice when you don't feel like making breakfast or getting dressed to go out). The pictures of the property are right on..inviting, cozy, very clean and well-maintained. Annie and Garrett have achieved a perfect combination of a very professional service while making you feel as if you are vacationing at very close friend's home. Thanks again for another fabulous stay in Santa Fe!
Four ladies went to Sante Fe for some hiking. Wow!! Did we luck out with this compound.
When we arrived (tired from a long day of flying), Annie, Garrett, and Ava were VERY welcoming and always responded to our questions. The property was clean and and well-maintained. We felt like we experienced some of the history of Sante Fe. We understand the livingroom of the main house use to be an old dance hall and would have enjoyed hearing even more history of the property.
Each lady had her own space and a bathroom AND the opportunity to come together to have breakfast, talk, or relax. The pictures and description of the property were right on. We hiked, shopped, ate delicious food, and had a delightful time. We would certainly recommend this property to friends and relatives.
Not only was this house beautiful and comfortable, but everyone in the family felt like they stepped back into the wild west. This house is exactly what we hoped to find for our stay in Santa Fe. Having the separate houses was nice too since we were traveling with another family. We all got to have our own space.
Best of all, we could walk out our front door and be in the heart of all the action on Canyon Rd. It is an art (and food) lovers paradise.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful home with us. We can't wait to come back.
