Sweeping oceanfront views and utter privacy are yours in our Crescent Cottage, nestled high on the dunes at the tip of the 35 foot dune. Enjoy unspoiled beaches and fabulous sunrises from our outdoor patio deck and huge screened porch!
Despite the 4 small bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms (with showers only), Crescent Cottage has a cozy bungalow feel, no doubt because of the painted wood frames outlining our floor-to-ceiling windows, the abundance of quilts and other handcrafted art, and the warm décor. Or perhaps it's the fun-and-funky mix of Vermont cabin furnishings with nautical yard art! (Be sure to pose the whole family in front of the cannon, rescued from nearby Matanzas River!)
The living room is the heart of our house, with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Stretch out the couch or grab a rocking chair--this inviting area is ideal for family game night, long chats with old friends, and serene ocean-gazing. (Watch for the occasional school of dolphins just beyond the surf!)
And if you want to get a little closer to the natural paradise that is Crescent Beach, our big screened-in porch provides protection from the elements while letting in the sunshine and fresh sea breezes. With plenty of seating and enviable views, it's certain to be your go-to refuge whenever you can't be at the beach.
The 4 bedrooms are ideal either for a family with children or for a large group. Comfortably sleeping 8, each is distinctively decorated, and all are snug and restful. One room offers a queen bed, while the other 3 contain doubles. With plenty of windows and extra quilts piled high, you will be pampered whether you want to close the blinds and slumber or gaze out at the starry night sky! The cottage also has 2 full bathrooms with showers.
Flooded with sunlight, the kitchen is convenient and fully equipped with all the dishes, cookware, and gadgets you could ask for. A cheerful dining area is just a few steps away, simplifying mealtimes. Our fridge and cupboards have all the space you'll need to keep the gang stocked in refreshments, and our spacious countertops make preparing a seafood feast or other gourmet treat so easy!
But the best part of our oceanfront cottage is its surroundings. Conveniently located just ¼ mile south of the 206 Bridge, it is surrounded by vegetation that provides a natural privacy barrier, creating the illusion that you are alone on your private beach! A winding path leads over the dunes and down to the sugary sands. Along the way you just may glimpse a rabbit or gopher turtle! And if there is a birdwatcher in your group, polish the binoculars, grab the camera, and get ready -- you will see countless beautiful seabirds during your stay at Crescent Cottage!
Your time on this beach will be unforgettable. Stroll along the soft sands, collecting shells or simply letting the waves tickle your toes. Ride a bike along the water's edge, swim, surf, or fish without fighting the crowds -- this is your stretch of ocean, unrolling for you all day long! And when you return to Crescent Cottage, wash the sand away in our outdoor shower.
Should you care to venture beyond your private paradise, a wealth of attractions wait nearby. You can rent kayaks, fishing gear, and even boats to explore the inlets of Crescent Beach, or hike through state parks. Historic St. Augustine lies at your feet, and Disney World is just 90 minutes away! Yet when you come home to Crescent Cottage, you feel miles from the hustle and bustle of civilization.
Hi! My name is Steve Milo and I started Vacation Rental Pros in 2006. Our family stays in vacation rental homes whenever we travel, both domestically and abroad! Please call if you need help booking your dream vacation!
Should be called Glad Mar! The pics posted of this place really doesn't do it justice because we had no idea about the huge upper and lower decks, which is where we spent most of our time. We had a great time and look forward to renting a beach house again in the future from the same company next time!
We arrived just before Christmas 2016. Great location, right on the beach, short walk to the shoreline, great view. We loved the atmosphere, very quaint and large wooden deck and screened in patio were nice touches. Older property, so the bathrooms are very tiny, in fact had to sit almost sideways on the north side bathroom and had to remove the roll of toilet paper to be somewhat "comfortable." The other bathroom is a tiny bit larger, but not much. Showers, no tubs. Everything worked ok, just dated appliances and such, but they work. Nice feel to the living area and the TV gets many good cable channels. Lots of very cool tortoises that live around the dunes, great fun looking at them :) Overall a very nice stay. Just a couple of things that could make it better: If you don't have a daily cleaning service, you should leave enough towels for four or five people. One set for each is not enough if staying for a week or so since there is no washer or dryer in the cottage. We had black ants in the kitchen and the bathrooms. Not overrun, but they were scouting. In damp areas, I feel you need to treat for pests monthly, so it needs a treatment, now. There were old asphalt shingles strewn about the grassy areas in front and the front circle driveway. We realize the hurricane caused it, but time to pick it up and throw the shingles in the garbage. The deck had a persistent wasp trying to make a nest under it, etc. The decking and railing, etc. are old, so in time, it will rot through and become a step hazard. At some point, it would be good to have the railing replaced to avoid splinters and possible breakage from normal use. It was OK for us, so not urgent, but should be addressed. There was also only one roll of toilet paper for each bathroom. Not enough for 5 or 6 people for a week. We realize we have to buy stuff to cook and basic stuff, but in the hotel industry, the hotel or rental should provide the toilet paper. One small bar of soap, no shampoo or anything for the bathrooms, so it is bare bones. Providing it would be cheap and a nicer, more hospitible touch, but I guess soap is too expensive? The only other thing that would make it a 5 star vs a 4 star is that it would be really great to have a hot tub on the deck so that you could watch the ocean and take a hot tubber, but that is optional and would not prevent us from visiting again. :) Old St. Augustine is a short 4 mile drive to the north and there are plenty of places to eat and shop.
Crescent Cottage was perfect for our group. Everyone had their own bedroom and we shared the bathroom with one other person. The front yard was in desperate need of trimming, but the back is where we spent most of our time. A large screened in back porch with an equally large deck. The ocean views were fantastic, very relaxing. Wasn't too bad a walk over the dunes to the beach, however, it could be a problem for the elderly. The only issue we had was the back porch door not unlocking with the key. I believe the salt water had eroded the metal. Overall, we enjoyed our time here and would rent again.
The house does not look like the picture anymore and is need of a lot of upgrading, there were sandspurs all over the floor in the house and we even found some in our bed sheets. The landscaping needs to be worked on, overall I was not impressed for the money we spent.
Driving up we were sure what we would find. The grass was long trees not trimmed. The place looked abandoned. Upon getting to the top of the dune we saw the mist beautiful view of the Atlantic Ocean. The cottage is rustic but the floor plan was good bedronddms are all 10 × 11. with closets. Good size kitchen well equipped that opens to the living room. 10×35 screened porch and 15×35 open deck overlooking the dunes below and the ocean beyond. The walk down to the beach wasn't bad. And the beach was beautiful. We were there the week before hurricane Matthew. Hope the cottage and beach survived. Slanted floors and a few cob webs add to the ambience of the 1950's cabin. 20 minute drive to St. Augustine.
Our stay at Crescent Cottage was fantastic. This cottage was a welcome departure from the typical condo rental experience. The owner has clearly spent a great deal of time collecting unique furniture and decor to create a cozy, unique cottage. The property description and pictures were very accurate. The cottage was clean and well-maintained. Everything worked, so we didn't need to call anyone. We loved the location, having morning coffee looking out at the ocean and enjoying the evening on the screened in porch. What a fabulous place!
Crescent Cottage is the perfect old Florida beach cottage. If you want to have the thrill of walking in white sand, over a dune, to the water then this place is for you. If you enjoy an old fashioned style vacation in the manner of times gone by, before every oceanfront home had to be a McMansion then this is for you. Not too old fashioned though; the TV has every channel ever invented and the wifi works great. The screened porch is large and you will want to use the TWO outside decks. Native plantings, Gopher Tortoises, the ocean - this is Old Florida!
