Keep Looking! Don't be fooled...

We rented the week of June 18-25, 2016. I fully recommend renting this place...IF YOU DON'T WANT YOUR SECURITY DEPOSIT RETURNED or IF YOU LIKE THROWING AWAY YOUR MONEY.

We only received 60% of our security deposit back. One word - ridiculous.

The house was in no condition to be rented for the summer nor was inventory taken of house prior to us getting there. 2 broken kitchen drawers, tar on driveway, broken laundry doors, carpets smelled like dog/feet, broken toilet paper dispenser, top deck pillow cushions torn and filling removed, stains on rug, outside shower contained pieces of wood and garbage, couch cover stained and white pillows stained, one remote short on 2nd floor and one remote was missing battery cover and batteries.

My wife was not pleased at the amount of things we needed to clean, take care of, and worry about and she felt as if we were prepping it for the season and should be compensated for the time spent.

So (proactively) we promptly made list of things that were not satisfactory and covered most of the items in list above. We never had a need to do this at all our years (10+) staying at SIC but we did this year as the list was long. Good thing we did too as, in hindsight, I'm sure our ENTIRE security deposit would have been withheld for damage we did not do. There is no logic to charging the leasees for items (that were there mind you) without having an inventory sheet for the leasees to fill out upon arrival.

Simply put, a security deposit is to protect the owner from damage done by the leasee. Not only did we do no damage to the house, but we also pointed out things that the owner clearly did not know about. By not returning our entire security deposit back, the owner essentially charged us for damage caused by others.

Charging us for these items is clearly not the right thing to do. The right thing to do is to return the rest of our security deposit. But they did not do the right thing. The only thing the owners did was hide behind polite email communication and include the phrase God Bless at the end of each note. Like that phrase makes it all okay. Heaven forbid you pick up a phone and talk to someone even though I included my phone number each and every time. Those are just words. Actions are the real deal and the right action here was returning a full security deposit to us. Something which did not happen.

Great Place

This rental was very nice. Nice furniture, beds, kitchen items, and TV/Music entertainment. Sound system a little complicated but we got it to work soon after arriving. House was clean. It was very nice to have the beach at the end of the block! I would recommend this house.
