Overview

About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)

A two bedroom log home in the peaceful, friendly Penobscot Bay town of Brooksville, our cabin would make perfect base for exploring our beautiful area by land or sea.

You'll find many opportunities for sailing, canoeing or kayaking. It is a short walk to Orcutt's Harbor, a mile from the Buck's Harbor public landing and is minutes away from landings at the Holbrook Island Sanctuary state park, Smith Cove and the Bagaduce River. Although there's plenty to do, Brooksville is pleasantly quiet, even in summer. It's a twenty-minute drive to Blue Hill, and Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park are an hour away. From Stonington, about a half hour away, you can take the mailboat to Isle au Haut, home of the less-visited part of Acadia.

The cabin is heated and is available year round. Fall is especially beautiful around here.

We now offer wireless internet access.

About Matthew Freedman

We're back! You'll see that we got great reviews from our former guests (2010-2014). Then we took a break. But now we're up and running again, beginning July 2017 - offering the same down home experience, a peaceful getaway. AND a newly renovated kitchen space.

Brooksville has been our home for over 30 years. With more than 50 miles of coastline, the scenery is fantastic, but it's also the strong sense of community and sensible pace of life that make it a great place to spend time.

What makes this cabin unique

You can pay more for a water view. But if you're happy with a quiet, slightly inland spot (within 1/2 mile of the saltwater), sitting on the screened-in front porch enjoying the woods and wildlife, this may be the economy choice for you. The cabin is clean and comfortable. We enjoy welcoming guests and orienting you to our beautiful corner of the world and what it has to offer.

Vacation Time in Maine

  • 5 of 5

we had an excellent time @ the cabin. very clean, had everything that we needed with no problems to speak of except that we wished that the time did not go by so fast. we met the owner Matthew, very polite and wanted to make sure that everything was in order for our stay. if and when I ever return to Maine I would most likely check to see if this cabin is available. thank you Matthew for letting us stay @ your cabin.

Very relaxing

  • 5 of 5

Spent a week at this cottage while in the area getting our boat ready for launch. Very clean. Felt like home as soon as we walked in the door. The cottage is in a quiet location and close to Bucks Harbor which is a beautiful spot. The owners of this cottage are a pleasure to deal with. A very relaxing week. Thanks.

A wonderful, relaxing stay

  • 5 of 5

I spent a long weekend at the cabin and wish I'd had more time. It was clean, comfortable, quiet and in a beautiful setting. Buck's Harbor, including the store and restaurant, great hiking at John B. Mountain, and wi-fi at the town library were all within easy walking distance. Breathtaking scenery was a quick drive in any direction. The accommodations couldn't have been better, and Matt and Katherine were helpful, informative and wonderful hosts. I definitely will be back next year!

Great place for vacation with small kid

  • 5 of 5

I stayed in this cottage with my parents, wife and a small baby boy for several days. This cottage is well maintained and has pretty much everything you need for daily life, washer, drier, fridge, pots, dishes, silverware etc. We had to boil water for my son because he drinks warn milk, and there is a water boiler.

The owner also had the light on when he knew that I would arrive at night. Thank you, Matthew!

Magical Spot in Magical Maine!

  • 5 of 5

My husband, my two-year old and I stayed at this cabin while we were in Maine recently for the weekend. We couldn't have been happier with our stay. The cabin was immaculately clean, beautifully appointed and nice and quiet. Our hosts were wonderful to work with and we really had a chance to relax and unwind and enjoy the natural beauty of the area. I would highly recommend this special little spot!

Cabin is perfect. Very clean. Very quiet.

Mornings on the screened porch are sublime.

1/2 mile to dock and fresh lobster.

Local community is excellent. Easy drive to Bar Harbor.

Hosts are very helpful and accommodating.

We will come back.
