Overview

About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)

A two bedroom log home in the peaceful, friendly Penobscot Bay town of Brooksville, our cabin would make perfect base for exploring our beautiful area by land or sea.

You'll find many opportunities for sailing, canoeing or kayaking. It is a short walk to Orcutt's Harbor, a mile from the Buck's Harbor public landing and is minutes away from landings at the Holbrook Island Sanctuary state park, Smith Cove and the Bagaduce River. Although there's plenty to do, Brooksville is pleasantly quiet, even in summer. It's a twenty-minute drive to Blue Hill, and Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park are an hour away. From Stonington, about a half hour away, you can take the mailboat to Isle au Haut, home of the less-visited part of Acadia.

The cabin is heated and is available year round. Fall is especially beautiful around here.

We now offer wireless internet access.

About Matthew Freedman

We're back! You'll see that we got great reviews from our former guests (2010-2014). Then we took a break. But now we're up and running again, beginning July 2017 - offering the same down home experience, a peaceful getaway. AND a newly renovated kitchen space.

Brooksville has been our home for over 30 years. With more than 50 miles of coastline, the scenery is fantastic, but it's also the strong sense of community and sensible pace of life that make it a great place to spend time.

What makes this cabin unique

You can pay more for a water view. But if you're happy with a quiet, slightly inland spot (within 1/2 mile of the saltwater), sitting on the screened-in front porch enjoying the woods and wildlife, this may be the economy choice for you. The cabin is clean and comfortable. We enjoy welcoming guests and orienting you to our beautiful corner of the world and what it has to offer.

Clean, cozy and fully equipped kitchen. Large screened in porch, a bbq area outside.

Kathleen and Matthew were excellent owners. I arrived after a severe wind storm, hundreds of thousands with out power. No problem, the cabin is equipped with a generator. When the generator is on it's only a couple of outlets and lights that don't work. The internet still worked as well as the fridge and stereo (Kathleen brought me a gift card to a local restaurant for any inconvenience, not necessary but appreciated). Even with the clean up they were dealing with the owners made sure I was all set. I recommend this to anyone looking for an excellent place to stay as well as convient to many places "Down East".

Cozy, well-kept cottage, on beautiful land owned by great couple.

We loved our stay in Maine in this great cottage. About a week before we were due to arrive, I contacted Kathleen and Matthew and asked if they had a pack 'n play for our baby. They reached out to friends and borrowed one for us to use for the week. Matthew stopped by once to make sure everything was going well. We had no problems with the space and we enjoyed the quiet and the little towns around the area. It was an easy 1 hour drive to Acadia where we went 3 days in our week in Maine. Overall a great place to stay and the owners were very helpful.

Our family came to the area for a short stay. The cabin is equipped with everything we needed, including a list of area activities and resources. Would recommend to anyone who wants to get the most out of the area.

Cozy and Quiet

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for a cozy, clean and quiet getaway, then this is the place. Nestled in the beautiful coastal forest of the Blue Hill peninsular, this cabin comes well equipped with books, games, pots, pans and utensils to make yourself at home. The owners also left a comprehensive folder of brochures and personal recommendations for restaurants and activities in the area which we used extensively. The screened porch is wonderful and we enjoyed sitting in the rocking chairs listening to the crickets and birds in the late afternoon. The location is perfect to access the many small towns and hiking opportunities that the peninsular and nearby Deer Isle offer. The best recommendation I can give is that we plan to go back as soon as we can.

Perfect getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Lovely cabin with the little extra touches that make it home and show it is cared for with love. We really enjoyed our stay. The location worked well for exploring the area, we loved morning coffee at Buck's Market, exploring Blue Hill, especially Blue Hill Books, visited Acadia and Bar Harbor and Fort Knox and the observatory at the top of the bridge! WOW! Thank you for the book of local places and for a wonderful place to stay.
