About Karen Williams

I was fortunate to be able to purchase this home this Spring, after falling in love with the Oregon coast. I live in Oregon, and work as an Occupational Therapy Assistant. I emigrated to the US 23 years ago from the UK, and the coast and climate in this area is similar to my homeland. I feel comfortable and at home in the Pacific northwest. People are friendly and welcoming and I love the natural beauty everywhere you look. Eventually I'd like to retire to my log home in the woods, but, in the meantime, I want you to enjoy it!

Why Karen Williams chose Brookings

I chose this home because it is unique and I love the 'rustic cabin' coziness of it; together with the view at nearby House Rock it can't be beat! To me, it is a comfortable place with no formality where you can finally relax, take a deep breath, and enjoy the peace and quiet. Lush green, rivers, ocean, beaches, tall pines, ferns, flowers, birds, sunsets, ever changing sky.

What makes this house unique

Perfect for those with dogs! Fully fenced grassy large back yard, 4 large dog houses, covered lounging deck, all those more could a dog want? Don't leave them home, they deserve a vacation too! Due to being a dog lover, I allow pets on blanketed sofas, and the carpet is well broken in. Dog hair is a condiment in this household! I am a big animal rescue supporter and hope to encourage pets to be part of your family.

Sensible choice, convenient location.

  • 3 of 5

Easy access to Hwy 101 & convenient for exploring ocean vistas.

Just north of Brookings for restaurant choices.

Home floor plan is sensible.

Nice bathroom & shower.

Enjoyed the hot spa.

A surprise guest was found on our second day, a bat that continued to remain at the home, after we left.. We were unable to get the bat out of the house, so this was a real inconvenience and not a fun experience for our family.

Owner's Response: I am truly sorry for your bat scare. I am currently researching bat behavior, how it might have got in, and how to deter bats in residence, to ensure this does not happen in the future.

Karen's Kabin was indeed Kozy

  • 1 of 5

A real log cabin with all the amenities plus a few extras...we loved the hot tub and a fenced in backyard for our dog...oh, and a grill that was great on the back deck. Surrounded only by trees (you know there are neighbors on one side, but hidden) and very close to all the beaches and trails.

We became well acquainted with the harbor and Brookings itself has some fine restaurants.

Flat screen TV and good Wi-Fi kept us connected to the outside world.....when we wanted it. Otherwise, surrounded by mother nature worked for us!

Owner's Response: Thanks for the kind review! I am hoping the house will be spared from the Chetco bar fire which is a monster 100,000 acres and about 2-3 miles away...

I just loved my stay at Karen's Cozy Cabin.

Very clean, and comfortable and quiet. Close to all the great beaches and the town of Brookings! Close enough for drives up to Gold Beach and Port Orford, for a great Oregon experience! Karen was very available for any questions and she is really very thoughtful. I felt so comfortable being there and slept like a baby- 'cuz its quiet!!

I would return again and again!

Jackson County, Oregon

Lovely log home in the woods, with view of ocean from the balcony.

This is a real treasure to find on the Southern Oregon Coast. The home is well appointed, with an English cottage setting. The home is two storied with a wonderful ambience. My family was so surprised to have access to an in ground pool and delightful hot tub in an enclosed area. There was a pleasant surprise by the pool with a very cute little "tea room."

For those of you who need the creature comfort of home, there is a tv with all of the premium channels, and adequate wifi, for those who need to stay connected.

We found lots of other little surprises in the well stocked cabinets and in the roomy bathroom. I took the smaller of the two downstairs bedrooms, and my niece loved the spacious master. Upstairs we found a great open-layout loft with two twin beds and lots of other cubbies, stuffed animals, and other delightful finds.

This property is also very dog friendly. My brother in law came over for brief time, and his dashund, Charlie, had a ball. There is a nice size BBQ on covered deck, along with picnic table. There is a working woodstove in living room, and small woodpile to start fire. We were all amazed the the fact, that no matter what window you looked out, there was a breathtaking view. Owner is very easy to contact, and Donna, the housekeeper was very warm and welcoming. We also met the yard/pool guy briefly, so yes, you don't have to do any chores while on vacation.

I highly recommend this for family get togethers, and would be a great retreat for romantic adventure. Enjoy!

All and all, this was one of the best family retreat we have been at for years. We agreed to try and incorporate this magical place with our busy lives, in the future.
