Waterfront Cedar Cabin Complete with Sauna

Bedrooms 3
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 - 7 nights

About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Loft, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 8-10)

Our cabin is 20 years old. It was built by the original owner who was a carpenter and the owner of a mill. His attention to detail and craftsmanship are over the top. If you appreciate woodwork you’ll love our cabin. Fishing on the lake offers pike, walleye, perch and bass to name a few. A couple of years ago someone caught a 47” inch pike (at least this is what I’m told.)

About Ed Amaya

I own a film production company that specializes in commercials in Chicago. I’ve produced independent movies as well. I’m married to a school teacher and we have two kids. When I’m not driving kids around I coach my son’s soccer team in the fall, always a good time.

Ed Amaya purchased this cabin in 2000

Why Ed Amaya chose Marquette

We live in Chicago and my wife is from the area. We wanted a place of our own to stay when we visited family and friends because we had children who were 4 and 2 at that time. We figured that the cabin would help us build memories to cherish as we all got older. In fact during our last visit my wife and I overheard our kids talking to each other about memories of the first pig roast we had at the cabin. That really brought a smile to our faces. Beyond this we loved the location. While it’s nestled in the woods on a lake we are close to relatives, shopping and more importantly a Starbucks. If you go in the opposite direction you go deeper into the woods where you can find fishing streams and waterfalls. All the properties on the lake have an acre of land so you have separation from the neighbors. It’s a very quiet getaway.

What makes this cabin unique

From the minute you step out of your car you smell the clean air of the U.P., a distinctly woodsy smell. Rarely do you see planes flying overhead. Once inside the cabin you’ll marvel at the view of the lake. As I always say, “the view alone is worth the price of admission.” With each passing day you’re able to sleep in a little longer because the area is so peaceful. There is even a nesting pair of eagles that live on the basin.

Scenic, Clean, and Peaceful

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here in January so we could take in some Michigan beauty in the winter and relax after the busy holidays. The cabin was plenty warm and the sunrises over the frozen lakes were beautiful. One day we got 11 inches of snow, and someone came and plowed the driveway so we were still able to get out and to downtown Marquette for dinner. It was about an hour drive from the Eben Ice Caves, which were amazing! We also enjoyed borrowing the snow shoes that were at the cabin. Overall a great experience. We'd love to come back in the summer!

Owner's Response: Thanks for sharing your experience with us. We really appreciate it. Also, glad to hear that our neighbor was able to plow you guys out in time to enjoy dinner in Marquette. As you may know, we're in Lake Superior's path for lake effect snow and it's not uncommon to get a large amount of snow in a short period of time. I have to admit that I've never visited Eben Ice Caves but I'm gonna have to visit them on our next trip. Everyone that has visited them are always impressed.

We had an amazing, adventurous stay in this beautiful cabin on the river!

  • 5 of 5

We loved this northern cabin in the woods with a beautiful view of the river basin. Our family of boys stayed with the intention of snowmobiling for the weekend and we were not disappointed! The trails were about a 10-15 min ride from the cabin, so there was no need to mess with the trailers once we arrived. The cabin was perfect and accommodated all of our needs. Our four boys slept in the two double beds in the loft area. My husband and I stayed in the bedroom on the first floor with the queen bed and our friends stayed in the basement bedroom. Our kids had a blast using the sauna down by the water. We enjoyed a cozy evening our last night watching movies in the basement with the fireplace keeping us toasty warm while the storm blew outside. The cabin was well stocked and very warm despite the cold temps outside. A major storm was brewing the day we had planned to leave. We decided it would be safer to hunker down one more night. Ed was super easy to work with and accommodated our request for the additional night's stay.

Perfect views from a lovely cabin

Our 5th year staying at this wonderful place in the fall. Lots of space, nice kitchen, quaint beach on the basin, awesome sauna and outdoor space. Our Girls Weekends are made so much better staying here.

We really enjoyed our weekend. The cabin is cozy and thoughtfully laid out with a beautiful view and well stocked, user friendly kitchen. The deck with dining set off of the living area was a great place to read and enjoy a cup of coffee. My granddaughter had a great time playing on the sandy beach and making smores around the fire. We would love to come back during the summer months to more fully enjoy the water.

Unbelievable lakefront property!

  • 5 of 5

The property was absolutely gorgeous and well maintained. The house was secluded yet only a 10 minute drive to downtown Marquette. I don't think that there is a better value in the area if you are planning a trip to the UP.
