Why Laurie McConville chose Nordic Estates

I choose to buy this home because it is so unique. It's so private & quiet. I love the grand wood burning fireplace and the log post and beams. There's only 6 units in the building and the village is only 5-7 minute drive. You get the best of both worlds. Taluswood's is a very special place.

Loved It!

  • 5 of 5

Awesome location, no noise, away from the hustle bustle and into the green. Nice and clean house with all necessities available. Just a shade small but that was ok for me, wife and two little kids.

peaceful place

  • 4 of 5

Overall I can recommend this place to stay. It is out of the craziness of Whistler village, but close enough that it is easy and quick to drive there. It is very quiet and peaceful, a delight to sit on the balcony in the morning. It is overall comfortable although the small bedroom has no window so sleeping with the door open is necessary. My only criticism is that while the sheets were clean, some were stained. Also, I have a sensitivity to perfume and with the only washing soap being a highly perfumed hand soap, I could not use it. For many, it is best to use unscented products. Overall though, I would definitely stay here again (bringing my own soap).

Nice but Small

  • 3 of 5

the condo was nice and in a good location, but it was very small and for our family of 4 we felt a bit on top of each other. I would recommend maybe changing out some of the bulky furniture which might make the unit a more roomy. It would be a great place for a couple or a family with a small child, but next time I think I will rent a place with a little more elbow room.

Thanks for a wonderful weekend. As five adults and a dog we managed just fine, small as it is. The open fire in the lounge was perfect for an evening of games, and the kitchen adequately stocked with kitchenware to make the meals special. One more dinning room chair would have been nice but we used a chair from the unexpectedly large and friendly deck. The quiet side street meant one slept well and our bed was just the best. I just can't give this 5 stars as the bathroom faucet needs repair as does the window crank in the bedroom. A special place.

The location of Taluswood is terrific. Set in the trees, the condo provides a perfect backdrop to a restful ski vacation. Away from the crowds and an easy ski in/ ski out location for our family of five and dog. Thank you. Love the hot tub.

Lots of extras that you don't get in most Whistler village condos

  • 5 of 5

Love this place. Private garage parking at no extra charge plus 2nd car parking available in the guest parking area next to the building. The Taluswood area is much quieter than in-village lodges, no 2am drunks yelling in the pedestrian zone or 5am garbage trucks to disturb our slumbers.

Great layout for skiers... Two mud room areas at the front door, one inside plus a cubby outside the door. The inside mud room has a heater below the rack which ensured that our gear dried overnight. (no soggy mitts in the morning) The condo is spacious with large master bedroom, living areas, and deck. Heads up that the second bedroom is small and windowless with just enough room for the bunk beds and small dresser. Fine for kids, but pretty tight for adults.

Kitchen has decent pots and pans, new small appliances and household-sized offerings of salt, pepper, and sugar (rather than single packets stolen from a diner like some places). If you're a cook, you might bring your own knife and high temp spatula. Aside from that, it's a cook's kitchen. Lots of little extras throughout the unit like a French press, detergent for the clothes washer, decent shampoo in the shower, a radio with an iPod dock... small things in themselves, but they add up to hominess.

Tip #1 Entrance to the unit is through the glass door at the center of the building, then down the stairs.

Tip #2 The ski-back run starts just above the green Olympic rings off Lower Dave Murray. It's pretty long. Keep following past the flats ALL THE WAY to the bottom. Take your skis off to cross a small parking area, walk to the right side of the units in front of you, put your skis back on for the last short bit which puts you out next to the garages and pool area. (saves 5+ minutes walking out to Nordic Dr. and back)
