Bisbee is a quaint little western town, and an unusual little town at that. And so is Above & Beyond Rentals. Its very colorful, filled with the owner's original art and personal collectables. It is a curious blend of comfort & unique decor, with all the needed amenities that bring our guests back time and time again.

You can close the front door and stroll for only 5 minutes to arrive at the 'High Desert Market' for fresh pastries and coffee or for pizza and delicious salad across the road at 'Screaming Banchee'. Another 5 minute's walk takes you to the heart of our unique, artsy historic town. There are many artisan shops along Main Street and neighboring alleys that feature nationally renown artists. You can dine at Arizona's finest restaurants or even at our elegantly restored historic hotels.

There are interesting tours available. You can start with a historic walking tour. Michael London, Bisbee archivist and historian extraordinaire, is now available for walking tours. Experience a journey into the past while touring the streets and avenues of historic Bisbee. Or what about the Old Bisbee Ghost Tour that is the only one of its kind? Your Ghost Host leads you on a walking tour through Old Bisbee's streets, stairways, and old alleys after dark on an adventure to discover and learn about the ghosts that haunt this hundred twenty five year old town. Learn their history and favorite haunts while seeing Old Bisbee when very few do, after sunset.

Take a Lavendar Jeep Tour. There are 7 tours options. One of the tours, Sky Island Adventure, takes two hours. You actually rise to 7,400 feet. Another featured tour, The Back Roads of Bisbee, is a 90 minute tour on the narrow, twisting back roads. The Mining Landscape Tour is a complete comprehensive tour of the Warren Mining District (Bisbee). You can also visit the Bisbee copper mine, once the largest in the U.S. And wherever you go, you're sure to encounter the colorful characters who call Bisbee their home.

Just recently a new Ghost Towns Tour became available. You experience the real neighboring town of Tombstone going beyond the 20 second gunfight. You visit quieter ghosts lying lonely in the desert. You’ll see the old hospital, general store, school and jail in the copper camp Gleeson where Native Americans mined turquoise in antiquity. You visit Rattlesnake, home to all things found in the desert and finally move on to Courtland and Pearce along the Ghost Town Trail.

Consider using Above & Beyond Rentals as your base while you explore the Southwest desert or hike to the tops of nearby mountains or even recoup from a long distance bike ride. There are state parks within 30 minutes of town. Take a tour of the spectacular Karchner caverns. Birders love to watch the sand hill cranes swoop down to feed in a local lagoon.

About Pamela

I emigrated from South Africa to the USA in 1978. I have lived in San Diego all this time. I am an acupuncturist and psychologist by profession. I come to Bisbee on a regular basis and volunteer my time at the free clinic offered by the Wellness Initiative in Bisbee as well as the Women's Shelter.

I conduct personal classes, seminars and retreats in Bisbee. I focus a lot educating groups about alternative approaches to medicine like acupuncture, homeopathy and nutrition as well as mini stress management workshops. Let me know if you have an interested group and we can tailor a workshop around your needs.

Pamela purchased this house in 2007

Why Pamela chose Tucson & Southern Arizona

I am truly grateful to my friend, Buckley, who pointed me in the direction of Bisbee just months before his untimely death in 2007. I was amazed to find how much I loved being in Bisbee every time I visited. Bisbee has a charm of its own. This historical mining town is a friendly and liberal community. It offers a wide variety of pleasures - everything from great hiking & fine dining to old-west saloons, mining history, Victorian architecture and world-class birding opportunities. There are a ton of trails both east and west of Bisbee maintained by the National Park Service

What makes this house unique

My home is spacious and so centrally situated! Its an easy walk to town, right on the main road, easily accessible with no stairs to climb. There is parking right outside and a fabulous, large deck tucked away behind the front house - ideal for quiet evenings at home, or private outdoor entertaining.

The home is also ideal to serve the needs of:

- 3-generation family get away, with outdoor privacy & room for everyone.

- Private venue for spiritual and special interest groups.

- Special family event venue - private living space in the heart of Old Bisbee that visitors just love to see.

- Recent addition - guest proposed to his fiancee. She was thrilled!

-Personal or Family get away - clean, easy to maintain environment with all the amenities you need to make your stay feel like 'home away from home.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Owner's Response: These sisters are most definitely the best guests who have ever stayed in our house. They took care of everything with a personal touch - as if everything belonged to them. Highly recommend them for any further rentals. Pamela

A Perfect Starting Point

  • 5 of 5

My husband, my Dad, myself and the family greyhound enjoyed the family-friendly feel of this cottage. We were in town for the After 5 Art Walk and used this place as the starting point for our weekend side trips. It is obvious that the owner has families in mind as the cottage has toys and games for the kids, books and info on local places of interest. You'll find coffee, tea, sweeteners and creamers in the cupboard, and a full sized refrigerator and stove if you want to cook. We used the microwave and coffeemaker, but there were enough dishes and pans plus table space for a full meal. There's even a washer, dryer and dishwasher -- so handy for longer stays. There was plenty of space to set up a portable kennel for Sweetie whenever we were out. There is plenty of counter space and storage in the kitchen and bathroom and large closets in each of the two bedrooms as well. This is SO much better than a hotel room!

Owner's Response: Thanks for taking the time to write such a detailed response. So thrilled that you appreciated all the nuances of comfort our home provides. It obviously showed that we, the owners, live there often.

Overall the property was great, comfortable, great location, nicely decorated, nice parking

  • 5 of 5

Our experience was very positive. The Manager and Cleaning person were incredibly helpful. Questions and problems were dealt with quickly. We thought it would be a bit more comfortable with some different padded chairs and a more relaxing couch. Would also be more comfortable to have more clothes storage in the bedrooms, but were there for 4 weeks which requires more clothes. Washer and dryer were ideal. Brochures about Bisbee and area were extremely helpful. As was internet access.

Great deal

  • 4 of 5

We stayed here for a week in January and used it as a base to enjoy Bisbee and take day trips . The home is in a great and quiet location, and walking distance to a few restaurants and downtown historic Bisbee. The home had everything you would need for a weeks stay and the decor was pleasantly funky. The only recommendation I would make is to have another upholster chair or recliner in the living room to enjoy reading or watching movies. Especially enjoyed the museum, shopping in Bisbee and hiking out of Miller Canyon. Very nice and spacious space for the price
