WELCOME TO 'NANI MOANA HALE' (Beautiful Ocean Home)...

At last you have arrived at your Hawaiian getaway. You’ve been looking forward to this very moment for some time now. You pull through the gated entry and the first thing you notice is the lovely tropical landscaping…citrus fruit trees, banana trees, a plumeria tree bursting with fragrant yellow blooms, a striking fuchsia-colored bougainvillea, tree ferns, orchids and bird of paradise. You hurry to the front door of the house. As soon as you step over the threshold you see and hear the surf. It’s breathtaking; even more beautiful than you imagined. With all the jalousie windows and wall-to-wall sliders open, the sea breeze quietly rushes in and whispers a bashful “hello” as it envelopes you and begins luring you to the backyard. You take your shoes off so you can feel the soft green lawn under your toes; step-by-step you are beckoned to the seawall. The trade winds now serenade you, acting as a maestro in this well rehearsed event, playfully welcoming your arrival as the cluster of coconut palms begin to dance and sway as if they were merely puppets on a string. A few local birds hover above navigating the winds, while a few others hop around the lawn whistling their songs and a crab cautiously peeks over the seawall. You step from the lawn to the soft, velvety sand and each of your toes sink into the sun kissed warmth. At last you rest yourself on the seawall and you are greeted by the restless and waving sea. Crashing wave-after-crashing wave, the sea is teasing and taunting, like a child imploring you to play…you feel the sea water mist your face as you anticipate the next big wave rolling toward you… You are in awe by the beauty that surrounds you in this moment. Few things will rivet one, like the beauty of moving water. It is truly and unequivocally mesmerizing. You feel like you’ve been taken back to a different time and place…the old Hawaii, from times gone by. You find yourself gazing at the sea, smiling at the dancing palms and deeply inhaling the healing sea air. In the back of your mind, you wonder, ‘If I gaze long enough, will I be able to memorize and forever etch this beautiful dream into my memory?’ You break free from the magical trance and wander back to the house to see what you passed by on your way out to say “Aloha” to the sea.

As you enter the lanai you feel the cool tile under your feet. It’s refreshing. This cozy room features two separate seating areas and a volcanic rock fireplace. You decide that this is the perfect place to read that novel that you brought along. As you enter the living room through the vintage glass doors, you are impressed by the spacious feeling that the open floor plan provides. The living room is also a peaceful place to sit back and relax. As you stand there, taking it all in, you notice how the soft colors of the cottage-like walls make you feel…you begin to unwind, stretch a little, smile a little. As you stretch, reaching upwards, you notice the vaulted ceiling and then admire the lovely bamboo media center with the widescreen television …you think to yourself, ‘I’ll catch up on some of those movies I’ve been meaning to watch.’ From the living room, you walk toward the kitchen, passing by the little rattan desk and the dining table for four. As lovely as the dining table is, you’ve already planned on having breakfast, lunch and dinner out at the dining table near the seawall, tucked under the cluster of coconut trees…you stop to look out at that little table for four and begin to daydream about a breakfast served up of sliced tropical fruits: bananas, pineapple, mango, papaya, coconut and perhaps some Kona coffee and local Portuguese sweet bread...mmmmm, can’t wait…you get excited about visiting the local farmers market for the best produce. You know that one of the highlights of your getaway will be the spectacular sunrises each morning, off to the East over Honolulu, Waikiki and Diamond Head. What a beautiful way to start each day. And then, there’s lunch and dinner…more delicious meals to enjoy. Most of Hawaii’s foods are influenced by the cultures of the Pacific Islands and several parts of Asia…let’s see, there is Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Filipino, Samoan, Thai, Vietnamese, Portuguese and Puerto Rican… You know what your favorites are and that you’ll broaden your horizons by trying some new cuisine while on the island. One thing is for sure, the dining table out at the seawall is the best table in the house and you have it every night of the week! You daydream a little more…’a romantic seaside luau for two…tiki torches lit, perhaps a local Hawaiian wine from the big island, perfectly paired to the evenings cuisine and the sunset at Barbers Point, just off to the West’… The coolness of the tile under your bare feet brings you back to where you left off…You wander down the hall and scope out the three bedrooms. Each one is cozy, inviting and perfectly coordinated with island décor. The master bedroom, however, has one thing that the other two rooms do not…an expansive view of the great blue Pacific. It’s then that you realize…there is an ocean view from nearly every room in the house; the lanai, living room, dining room, kitchen and master bedroom. The neutral palette of this tastefully decorated getaway is just what you’d hoped for, as you ease, ever further, into a relaxed mode. The light and airy atmosphere is inviting, charming and delightful. Rattan furnishings with tropical prints and Asian accents throughout, gently and gracefully remind you, room-by-room that you are indeed, in a tropical paradise. Welcome friends, you have arrived at your home-away-from-home, Hawaii-style.

What an amazing getaway

  • 4 of 5

My girlfriend and I stayed here Sept. 16-23, 2015 and we absolutely loved it! The description of the home was exactly what we got, and the nice lady taking care of the home was very friendly and welcoming too.

The home has three bedrooms, with one facing the back yard and ocean. We slept with the sliding doors open every single night listening to the sound of the waves crashing on the coral, and I've never felt so relaxed in my entire life. This home does not have air conditioning, like many on the islands, so if you're a mainlander visiting in September, be aware of that.

For those visiting the area, Ewa Beach is very conveniently located. Getting to the North Shore towns like Haleiwa takes maybe 45 minutes and brings you through central O'ahu for some amazing views of the mountains. Leave a little after rush hour to miss all the traffic going to the Schofield/Wheeler bases and it should be smooth sailing. Getting to Honolulu/Waikiki will consistently take over an hour and there will be traffic, so make sure you give yourself enough time to get where you're going.

As the listing says, you will not be able to swim from the back yard due to the coral. But there is a beach within easy walking distance just down the road where all of the new homes have been built. Almost all beach is considered public land in Hawaii, so you are allowed to park in the dirt lot if you have things to bring, and walk right to the water. Be aware, though, that you should not leave anything of value in your vehicle anywhere on the Islands. Most of the time everything is okay, but crime is everywhere.

Thank you for sharing this home with us! We can not say how much we appreciate the time we spent and how relaxed we were. I've missed Hawaii since we drove to the airport!

Family of five over Thanksgiving

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this wonderfull Ewa Beach home over Thanksgiving break. The property manager was very friendly and accomadating, the house itself was beautiful and the sea breeze that came through when the patio doors were open was amazing. We went to bed each night with the patio doors open and were lulled to sleep by the waves crashing on the seawall. The views from the back yard and seawall were absolutely beautiful the pictures posted on the website truly do not do them justice. This was a once in a lifetime trip to Hawaii to visit our son who is stationed there and we could not have had a better was beautiful, we were so close to everything we needed and the accommodations were perfect for our family of five. Mahalo for the wonderful memories.

Christmas in Hawaii

  • 5 of 5

I just want to say that this was one of the best family vacations we have ever had. We strongly recommend this house to anyone wanting to visit Oahu but wanting to stay away from the downtown big city of Honolulu. It was a bit of a drive but quite nice to be able to enjoy all of Honolulu, Diamond Head, Waikiki Beach & other parts of the island, and then come "home" to a comfy relaxing space. We especially loved that we were right on the ocean - able to hear the ocean waves as we fell asleep at night. With a family of 2 older teen children (ages 16 &18) it was wonderful having the 3 rooms - and plenty of space on the Lanai to enjoy the sunshine & ocean breezes. Not being in a small condo or hotel room was perfect for our family. The next door neighbors who were there to let us in and give us a tour of the place were so friendly. Really gave us some great information of beaches and places to go. Overall - if we return to Oahu - we will most certainly be asking to rent this house again. Wonderful stay! Thank you so much!

What a lovely place to stay

  • 5 of 5

Even though this house could fit six people very comfortably there was only two of us and what a fantastic time we had in Ewa Beach. The property manager was quick to give us the tour and let us get on with our vacation. We didn't need her much but we knew we could reach her should we need to. Our evenings out by the sea wall were spectacular and I can now only dream of hearing the waves crash against the rock all night long. I miss that sound very much.

While the house may be off the beaten path who want the excitement of a busy night life it certainly fit our style. We even had a nightly visit from the bull frog that leaves in the bushes. I had the please of wearing fresh plumeria in my hair as the manager's pulmeria tree grew over the garden wall.

Thank you for having such a lovely place to vacation at and we are hoping to get our grown children to come with their sopuses next time.

Do remember that you really don't need to bring binoculars, boogie board, sand chairs (we bought an extra and left it there), beach towels. They have lots of books, a few games, movies and the ocean to watch of course.

Sunny Ewa Beach Rental

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful home away from home! This rental property was everything we had hoped for and more. Very clean, comfortable, and roomy. The kitchen was well equipped for those times we felt like cooking instead of eating out. There are plenty of retail stores (including Safeway and Foodland) close by and Costco not too far away. The back yard was our favorite hangout - we sat on the sea wall and watched the sunrise several mornings and whale watched (yes, we did spot whales almost every day!). Thanks to the owners who provided 2 pair of binoculars!! Sitting out back at night was very relaxing and enjoyable.

The managers, Tod and Karen, were very accommodating with our late airport arrival and made sure the house was ready for us when we pulled up in our rental car. They were available to answer all questions and were very friendly!

I recommend this house to anyone who would like a more layed back vacation, away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki Beach and Honolulu. A rental car is a must if staying here. We went all over the island and would like to advise heading back early in the afternoon (before 3:00 p.m. on a weekday) if you don't want to be caught in traffic.

We will have wonderful memories of our Ewa Beach rental!!! Thanks again Karen and Tod!
