Space 3,000 sq ft
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 - 4 nights

About the property

4 bedrooms, 2 baths, Open Floor plan, Game Room - Great Views!

Watch eagles soar and trout jump from this one of kind 3,000 sq ft home on one of the Poconos' premier sporting rivers. A spacious very private home for family adventures that allows both family fun and privacy. This is a home for all seasons. The house is situated on the Lackawaxan River so you can swim and tube in the summer, fish in the spring, fall and summer. In colder moths, sit in the hot tub sipping cocoa while the snow falls, snuggle up in front of the gas fireplace or make smores around the large firepit in the backyard. Hike the dirt roads behind the property or bike along the historic Towpath Road. Many outdoor adventures are a short drive away. Well mannered pets are welcome.

The large open home sits up the hill overlooking the Lackawaxan River. Watch eagles soar from the banks of the river or through the large floor to ceiling windows in, the great room. Trout are abundant making this house a sport fishing dream come true. Across from the driveway is the river access with a serene seating area. Swim, tube, nature watch and fish from this private river beach. The back yard is surrounded by trees and stone fences making it secluded and inviting. This is where you will find the six person hot tub, fire pit, gas barbecue and children play area.

The house has four bedrooms and easily sleeps eight people; two bedrooms are on the ground floor and two on the second floor. The kitchen is large and open to the great room, with enough amenities to cook and serve a holiday feast. There is a spacious game room on the second floor. Complete with a pool table, 52 inch TV, board games and comfortable couches. There is another TV located on the first floor, so everyone can watch what they like.

In the back of the house is an airy screened-porch; a great place for morning coffee or an after dinner aperitif.

Wifi and Direct TV are provided at the house, there is a DVD player and small library of books.

The house is a short 15 minute drive to Big Bear Ski resort. It is also close to horseback riding, river rafting, canoeing and kayaking, family fun parks, antiquing, quaint towns, amazing restaurants, museums and Parks.

Be sure to bring your fishing gear, bikes and sleds in the winter for year round fun. Linens are provided.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi Michael,

I wanted to send you a short note to thank you and your wife for allowing us to spend a great holiday weekend in your home. We had great weather, plenty of food, fun, and beverage. The home and property were exactly what we hoping to find , spacious, quiet, and private. Needless to say, we all enjoyed our stay tremendously. Thank you both again... maybe we can do it again next year ?

Situated directly across the river and nestled in a heavily wooded area is this stunningly spacious home. Very tranquil and inviting. Peaceful for the adults and entertaining for kids of all ages.

Bautiful StaY!

  • 5 of 5

The property was as advertised.; Large abnd well appotioned. Ample parking. Nice Fire Pit , although we could not get the inside fireplace to go. Could not find the witch! The property manager, Penny, is a gem to deal with. She was really nice! The only knock is that if you arrive at night, the entrance to the driveway is not easy to locate. Bigger numbers would be a deffnite asset. Now we know where it is and pl;an to rent again in the near future.

Beatiful property!!!

  • 5 of 5

We spent the NYE week up there and it was perfect. The house had everything you needed and was very warm and welcoming. There are lots of things to do around, skiing, tubbing and lots of antiques stores. We will be returning in the summer to enjoy Lackawaxen river.

Great Stay. Great Rate. Great Experience.

Seven friends, including myself, decided we wanted to get away from the city life to celebrate my birthday. We found the Hawley House and decided to give it a try. Within hours Michael reached out to us and asked some very generic questions about our visit, and within less than 24hrs we were set for our weekend!

The day before we were to leave, an email was sent to us giving detailed instructions on the property, how to use the facilities in the house and what's around! It was very simple to understand and follow. The house is literally yours to use, except three things, but it's explained in the letter... you won't need them anyways.

Now the house: The house is adorable and HUGE. Never once did any of the seven of us feel like we were on top of each other, even in the kitchen. Cleanliness wasn't a question, it was very clean and you can see that they make it a priority. The water is absolutely delicious to drink from the faucet, so I wouldn't recommend buying water, internet is decent (instructions are given to troubleshoot if needed), there are 2 giant flat screen tvs for use (we turned it on for 10 minutes but that was it), linens are provided, the kitchen is well stocked, there's a dual grill (½ gas, ½ charcoal/smoking) and the hot tub in the back is great to use. Yeah okay, the house can use some paint jobs in some of the rooms, but are you really spending your vacation in the room?? Didn't affect the thought of the house or stay one bit.

Heat was never a question in the house as the house faces the sun, so that's one source, and the main source of heat is so efficient we didn't even go above 65... plus the fireplace in the living rooms was wonderful to have.

Let's talk about the house manager... she was absolutely AMAZING!!! Very involved and caring for the visitors, available within just a simple text or phone call, just overall wonderful to work with.

We look forward to another stay down the road. Highly recommended!!

Wonderful weekend getaway!

We had a lovely weekend with friends and family! The house had everything to keep us entertained. We enjoyed cooking and relaxing. There was plenty of room for 7 adults to spread out and have their own space. Would highly recommend this house to others!
