Overview

About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4-6)

You will walk up a short path onto a large redwood deck before entering the cabin. You may not want to enter as you will be so engrossed with the gorgeous view. Fortunately for our guests, the whole front wall is floor to ceiling glass so you can also enjoy the view from inside. The main room is an open format living, dining, kitchen. The west bedroom has a queen bed and the east bedroom has a beautiful handmade twin bed with a pop-up twin trundle. I can also convert the twin beds to a king bed. The living area also has a sleeper sofa with a high quality mattress. The TV has satellite and can be hidden away in a handmade oak armoire with doors that slide in to allow viewing from all corners of the main room. The gas fireplace is shaped like a wood stove and heats the whole cabin with the touch of the thermostat. The interior of the cabin has just been totally repainted and there is a new sleeper sofa in the main room.

It is not uncommon to see elk, moose, bear, deer, snowshoe hare and other wildlife from the cabin and driving through Skywood Preserve. Warning: You may not want to leave this cozy designer cabin at the end of your stay!

Keywords: Guest cabin on 42 acre estate in private gated community. Only 8 miles to the lifts at The Biggest Skiing in America and 2 miles to the Meadow Village and the Gallatin River, a Blue Ribbon trout stream.

Why The Owner chose Skywood Preserve

I came to Big Sky on vacation in 1994 and went home with 20 acres in Skywood Preserve. I then bought the adjacent 20 acres that make up this beautiful estate. The construction of the guest cabin was completed in 1998 and it has been lovingly cared for ever since. I fell in love with the privacy, the view and the proximity to the village amenities (2 miles) and to the ski resorts (8 miles). I love to golf, hike, camp and swim in the summers and still can't decide which season I love more!

Very comfortable and impressive

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay here and it’s more impressive in person than the pictures on here. Just felt like home and watching the sun set over the mountains from the porch was nice and relaxing. Would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful, comfortable cabin in a lovely natural setting.

  • 5 of 5

We loved Laura's cabin. It's a lovely home with beautiful finishes inside and out, and it has everything a couple could need, including a comfortable bed, a nice little kitchen, and a spacious deck. The quiet setting at the edge of a forest with a view of mountains across the valley was fantastic. We would have loved to stay longer.

A lovely mountain retreat!

  • 5 of 5

We can highly recommend this cabin for a couple or two who want a quiet retreat in the beautiful Montana mountains. It is well designed, nicely decorated, well maintained and supplied. The hosts/owners are very friendly and helpful. And, as others have reported, the short hike to the cabin can be a little daunting for out-of-shape flat-landers, but hey, what do you expect in the mountains of Montana :-). The location is on a gated secure property with beautiful landscaping and mountain views. It is both remote and convenient to town at the same time. The owner did report that we had a beautiful large Grizzly Bear stroll past the cabin one day, but we missed seeing it (fortunately they have dogs that alert the arrival of guests or pests). The owners are very attentive and respectful and will put the dogs inside if you have any issues with them. It was fun to have their large black shepherd come to the cabin in the morning as I enjoyed my coffee, though the first time was a bit alarming because he looks like a big wolf, ha :-). We enjoyed our stay and would definitely like to return.

Everything we were hoping it would be...

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was great and very secluded. Laura was wonderful and everything about our stay met or exceeded our expectations.

We especially liked being greeted by KeHa in the mornings and evenings.

Thank you so much for everything!
