You will walk up a short path onto a large redwood deck before entering the cabin. You may not want to enter as you will be so engrossed with the gorgeous view. Fortunately for our guests, the whole front wall is floor to ceiling glass so you can also enjoy the view from inside. The main room is an open format living, dining, kitchen. The west bedroom has a queen bed and the east bedroom has a beautiful handmade twin bed with a pop-up twin trundle. I can also convert the twin beds to a king bed. The living area also has a sleeper sofa with a high quality mattress. The TV has satellite and can be hidden away in a handmade oak armoire with doors that slide in to allow viewing from all corners of the main room. The gas fireplace is shaped like a wood stove and heats the whole cabin with the touch of the thermostat. The interior of the cabin has just been totally repainted and there is a new sleeper sofa in the main room.
It is not uncommon to see elk, moose, bear, deer, snowshoe hare and other wildlife from the cabin and driving through Skywood Preserve. Warning: You may not want to leave this cozy designer cabin at the end of your stay!
Keywords: Guest cabin on 42 acre estate in private gated community. Only 8 miles to the lifts at The Biggest Skiing in America and 2 miles to the Meadow Village and the Gallatin River, a Blue Ribbon trout stream.
I came to Big Sky on vacation in 1994 and went home with 20 acres in Skywood Preserve. I then bought the adjacent 20 acres that make up this beautiful estate. The construction of the guest cabin was completed in 1998 and it has been lovingly cared for ever since. I fell in love with the privacy, the view and the proximity to the village amenities (2 miles) and to the ski resorts (8 miles). I love to golf, hike, camp and swim in the summers and still can't decide which season I love more!
What a GREAT place to stay!!! We stayed here over the Labor Day Weekend for 3 nights and what a lovely place. From the time we drove up the road thru the security gate and on up to the cabin it all took our breath away!!! When we walked into the cabin we fell in love with it!!! So nice and cozy!!! The kitchen was so well stocked with the utensils etc that there wasn't anything that we could think of that was missing. I needed a piece of tape to tape a box shut and low and behold there were both scotch tape and duct tape. AWESOME!!! The hot tub was nice and warm and enjoyable also, with a beautiful view. The dogs all 4 were so friendly and seemed to love people!! It was nice getting to meet you also Laura!! Thanks for sharing your LOVELY cabin with us. We would love to come back sometime and just spend a relaxing week unwinding!!
This cabin was a great place to stay while visiting Yellowstone. Off the beaten path but close to the Big Sky village. Very comfortable.
We had a wonderful stay at this cabin - it was perfect. It's close to town and the slopes but tucked away on a private mountain side that makes you feel miles away from it all! Laura was extremely hospitable and helpful - even offer ending to put on music for us while we were using the "shared hot tub" that's on the porch of her home one night. The kitchen was well stocked, comfortably slept 5 of us, and we had a blast on the slopes then came back to the cabin and rested so we could go hard the next day. What a retreat! If I go back I will stay here again. Thank you, Laura!
Visited Big Sky with my two sons and one of their friends. This was a fantastic place to stay. The accommodations were even better than described. It is easy to get into town locations and the Big Sky ski resort. Set in the woods, it was serene with great views. Laura and Chris are always available and helpful. Provided us some great suggestions for our sightseeing. Has a full kitchen (even though we did not cook) and plenty of space to hang out - watch TV, talk or play games - NCAA tournament was on for us. You can hike in woods all around the cabin as well. Would highly recommend and when we visit next, will look up this property first.
This property is great! Plan on unplugging for a few days. Laura was very accommodating - even providing a blender and putting two twin beds together to make a king. Two couples vacationed for a few days. Lone Mountain Guest Ranch was super close and we spent most days cross-country skiing. It was a grand vacation and we would love to stay here again.
The location , views and privacy are the standout features. Our host was very responsive and accommodating . While the wifi wasn't functional who really wants all that connection in Big Sky? If I could fill my wish list it would include an upgrade to the living room furniture , an on site barbecue , some cozier deck furniture and a private on site hot tub. The grounds are gorgeous and fishing, dining and shopping are just minutes away. We would definitely return.
Private snowshoe loop and sledding hill on property.
