About Randy Cox
We are a surfing family from Santa Barbara, California and have been travelling with our children to Sayulita since the early 1990's. This is our second home where we spend several months a year, so it is furnished with everything we ourselves enjoy! The house is a wonderfully relaxing getaway, and even after many visits we still find ourselves mesmerized by the views from the two dining terraces - we call this breathtaking panorama our own 'Wide Screen' of paradise!
Randy Cox purchased this House in 2005
Why Randy Cox chose Sayulita
Sayulita has all that one could wish for in terms of relaxation and reflection - beautiful sunsets, balmy bathing suit weather year round, warm ocean water, and dependable waves for surfing, SUP, and boogie boarding. There are also calmer beaches for kayaking, snorkeling and swimming. Sayulita's unique seaside culture and its friendly local people are hallmarks of this part of Mexico. The array of unpretentious restaurants and cafes featuring fresh local fish and delicious Mexican specialties are a pleasure we look forward to enjoying nearly everyday.
What makes this House unique
The name of our home is Casa Los Loros - the House of Parrots. The experience of the house is akin to being perched in your own luxurious aerie looking down on a tropical paradise! Since the house is not directly on the beach, we are afforded privacy and tranquility, yet still have stunning ocean views only a 6 minute walk away from the sand. We can step outside each morning and check the surf and ocean conditions from the front terrace. For us, the ultimate afternoon consists of floating in the infinity pool overlooking the surf, jungle, and mountains with a good book and cool Pacifico in hand!

Classic hacienda... generally comfortable and well kept... a steal at the price... we'd go back
Generally more than fine; indoor furniture could do with some updating but it's more than liveable ... pool is great and a true treat on hot afternoons after the walk home up the hill ... the roof top patio is fantastic and the views are spectacular; patio lighting could be improved but who wants lights to sit under the stars ... the 'many keys' are a bit of a hassle but more than manageable... house and pool staff are fabulous ... the hill climb is not for the weak but more than manageable; my 6 yr old and 4 yr old grandkids went down and up everyday .... the stairs from street level to the villa were a bit of a surprise but again doable ... surprisingly comfortable beds ... great value for money compared to other villas nearby ... villa is near road so there can be road noise when larger or noisy vehicles go by but generally fine ... you'll even get used to and look forward to the morning birds (they aren't too early) ... thoroughly enjoyed the villa and our trip; didn't want to leave ... town is indeed just a short walk (with many watering holes along the way) and the beach an even shorter walk ... would go back in a heartbeat ...
We were lucky to find Casa Los Loros for Christmas break! The house was beautiful and really had that Mexican feel to it. And the view was amazing, best feature of the house! We stayed there for 7 days and had a great time. The house was very clean upon arrival and every time they came in to clean they did a wonderful job.
The house is on a steep hill but we didn't rent a golf cart or anything and we had no problems walking into town and back up the hill, only took 10minutes to walk into town and then maybe 15 or 20min to walk back. We also have no mobility issues.
Also after the walk up the hill the pool is soooo welcoming!
We had to connect with the host Randy, once during our stay for a minor assistance, and he replied to us within minutes and it was on Christmas morning. He was very kind and was quick to assist us. It was great to have such a responsive host.
We would definitely recommend this house if you are looking for a place to stay in sayulita!
Our only criticism of the house would be that the furniture was not the most comfortable inside the house, but outside (especially on the top deck) the chairs are much more cushioned, so spend your time outside!
Thank you Randy for this amazing home!
This was probably one of the most beautiful and special places I’ve visited. I would definitely go back here. I love Sayulita and LosLoros was everything I could hope for.
Fantastic time at Casa Los Loros
Randy has a great home here that is extremely well appointed for beach activities. The view is just as advertised in the photos if not better! The roof top is a fantastic place to sip coffee and watch the waves roll in during the morning. The walk down to town is a quick 15 minutes and the walk up might take you a bit longer, but it's worth it for the views! Aida came and cleaned the house a couple of times during our stay and left it nice and clean for us. Nothing bad to say about this house, and only good memories of our stay here!
Amazing view, pool and clean
We will start with the positives:
1.the Home faces south/ west and has spectacular views. You are nestled right up in the jungle and surrounded by flora, wild life and lots of birds.the sunsets from the upper deck/ and pool deck will leave you breathless. The Casa is dated but clean. The bed mattresses are adequate . There are two small TVs and lots of dvds too watch. Plenty of towels pool/ beach. Ok to the brief sticky points.
The mega key debacle. 4 Keys too get in, then 4 more for each room and upstairs gate. I’m glad it was just us 2 staying here , if there were 4-8 people mass confusion could ensue. The refrigerator is apartment sized so again if you have a large group bring a large ice chest .he does have 2 little ones room for a six pack.when you walk up the 6 flights up stairs through the front yard/ patio/ pool area. You arrive at your main locked screened entrance.
Two locks there. As upon our arrival date 11/7/17 time 4:00 PM the temperature was 90/ humidity 90%. Being from San Diego we are used to heat. Seeing the A/C icon on Randy’s amenities page I figured we could cool the Home down as it was 90/ inside. The 2-3 ceiling fans and two floor fans don’t cut down the hot , thick air. And especially at night by 12 , four fans in the downstairs master didn’t come close to being able to sleep. The downstairs master bathroom shower didn’t work so we used the kids room bathroom. Worked great. There is plenty of safe drinking water in 5 gallon bottles to drink from. When we changed one out it must of had a micro crack in it and while we were out in the pool, leaked 1.5 gallons of water all over the floor. I’m glad we didn’t go into town that evening or 5 gallons would of leak all over the floor. We soaked it up w beach towels. Upon our last nights stay I got Sayulitas revenge, and haven’t been that sick in years from food poisoning. We spent most the morning cleaning up the best we could . Plus left a handsome tip for the cleaning staff.
In closing the really big disappointment in staying at this Casa was lack of A/C. There’s hundreds of hotel rooms/ condos/ homes to stay while in Sayulita .We travel extensively and use HomeAway monthly. I’m partially to blame w/ my lack of reconfirming about the fine details and home having WORKING A/C. So do your due diligence and confirm working A/C as this home has no through breezes at any temperature.
Oh, unless you speak fluent Espanol , Aida won’t made you a custom dinner. That was a bummer.
I appreciate Eric's candor re: his recent visit to beautiful Casa Los Loros. However, website indicates that no A/C is provided, rather there are instead overhead and floor fans throughout the house. In fact a lengthy pre-visit phone conversation with this guest was had re: all aspects of the house. In planning a visit to tropical Mexico, visitors are of course reminded to consider that weather can be very warm and humid. To many that is part of the appeal of the tropics! Please be assured that all concerns of guests to beautiful Casa Los Loros will always be our foremost priority. Feel free to contact me at any time. Randy Cox
Beautiful View, Great Pool
We had a great time staying at Casa Los Loros, it was more than enough room for 4 people. The pool was beautiful and very clean, the wide shaded porch provided a view and an escape from the heat. The key situation was challenging as others mentioned, but we knew that ahead of time so we expected a lot of keys, and we felt like our belongings were locked away safely! The living room of the house is pretty much open to the elements, just screened in--so that let some bugs in as you would imagine. I liked the little geckos on the walls though, they were cute. The wildlife can be loud too though, so you might want earplugs, we had some of the loudest birds I have ever heard squawking at us in the mornings! Overall we were super happy to stay at Los Loros, a safe haven with a beautiful view of the ocean and sunsets!
Some of our favorite local area restaurants, including both fine dining restaurants and modest al fresco taco stands, are as follows: Sayulita pueblo: Calypso (Savory Mexican specialties, above town square) Don Pedro's (Fine dining & cocktails right in front of main beach) Don Juan's (Tasty home cooking, off road to Punta Mita) Pizza Venezia (Terrific, inexpensive pizza, BYOB, Ave. Palmar by school) Bichos (Below square, tasty inexpensive fish and meat combos) Don Pedrito's (The original town taco stand, next to Kupuri hotel) Cheo's (Popular savory street taco stand just over bridge to left) Choco Banana (Town square meeting place for coffee, breakfast) Mimi's pastries (Small card table off plaza; best pastries in town) Beach vendors at Muertos beach (Fish/chicken kabobs, oysters) La Cruz: Osito's (Fresh fish, etc., next to large fish mercado at harbor) La Cruz Yacht Club Sunday Buffet (At harbor; winter months only) Bucerias: Dugarel's (Best steaks/fish/Mexican dishes at north end of town beach) Nuevo Vallarta: Sonora al Sur (Unique butcher shop/steak house, turn right first NV exit off Hwy 200, right at Marlin Restaurant, then one mile on right across street from Technological University.) Puerto Vallarta: TRIO (Fabulous restaurant on Calle Guerrero very near old PV Cathedral; 5 star quality cuisine at 3 star prices. Reservations online a must. Save for a romantic night out in PV town followed by stroll along Malecon!)
