Casita de Lunes is located on the stretch of beach known as 'roosterfish alley' in a new, sparsely populated gated community. Once standing alone with no other homes in sight, there are now homes flanking either side of our casita but the uninterrupted beach remains the same. The village of La Ribera is 10 minutes away by car and Los Barriles, with it's many shops and restaurants, is 30 minutes away.
Baja California Sur is a peninsula separated from mainland Mexico by the Sea of Cortez. This gives it a distinctive 'island' feel. Baja is often called 'the other Mexico'. Our home is located near the tip of the peninsula, on the Sea of Cortez side (also known as the east cape). We are a one hour drive north from the Los Cabos International Airport and far removed from the hussle and glitz of Cabo San Lucas.
Designed by renowned Mexican architect Carlos Montero, Casita de Lunes is the perfect space for indoor/outdoor living. The livingroom, diningroom and master bedroom/bath open directly onto the huge flagstone patio which is steps away from the sandy beach of the Sea of Cortez. The king size bed of the master bedroom looks directly to the sea. The two guest rooms open to a protected courtyard sanctuary. Each guest room contains a queen and a twin bed and share a spacious jack 'n jill bath with 2 sinks and a shower. There is also a courtyard powder room and 2 outdoor showers for rinsing off after a swim.
Maybe you've wondered about those funny domes on the roof of the house? They are designed to increase the ventilation in the house by drawing the warm air up and out through a clever chimney-type system. The cross ventilation is excellent and generally there is an ocean breeze which keeps the house cool and comfortable in all but the hottest summer days. We also have several fans in the house which may be arranged to best advantage when needed but please note: we do NOT have air conditioning.
The house deliberately lacks a television and visitors never seem to miss it one bit! Cell phone and internet are provided as is bottled water for drinking (we don't recommend drinking the tap water). Our caretaker and amigo, Manolo, will be at your service for anything you need and our housekeeper, Lorena, is available to cook for you when you want a real 'night off'! The house is fully equipped with linens, towels, utensils, cookware, etc.

Rates are for 2, double occupancy. Beyond 2 people there will be an additional charge of $20 per person, per night or $100 per person, per week. A $100 cash cleaning fee is due when you arrive.
Casita de Lunes is now for sale. Showings have been VERY rare but we have agreed to allow showings provided our guests (you) agree and are given 24 hr notice via our caretaker.
NOTE ABOUT BOOKINGS:
Our VRBO is run a bit old school. We have never taken payment via any Instant Pay System, CC or Paypal so we do not charge you a (normally hefty) service fee. Reservations will be confirmed when a deposit equal to one half of the full payment is made. Full payment is due 30 days prior to check in. Clear & complete instructions are included in rental agreement or just ask us!
Owner's cancellation policy:
50% refund for cancellations more than 7 days before check-in date.
100% refund for cancellations more than 14 days before check-in date.

About the owner: Our primary residence is Taos, N.M. where we have both been full time ski instructors at Taos Ski Valley most of our adult lives. We love the mountains, the sea, our animals and family, and traveling.
Why the Owner Chose La Ribera, B.C.S., Mexico:
Rick traveled the Baja peninsula from California to Cabo San Lucas via motorcycle for the first time in 1968, before the highway was completed. Teri hitch-hiked and took express bus to Los Cabos in 1974 when San Lucas was just a tiny fishing village. Rick bought a lot at Lighthouse Point Estates in 1999 after camping on the very spot and risked building before any other homes existed there. We enjoyed many solitary years being the only house for miles around and now appreciate the opportunity to share our bit of paradise with the rest of the world.
