Our home is designed for comfort and convenience and yet is one of the lowest priced 2 bedroom units on the South Padre Island Beach. During the month of March our complex rents only to families and adults over 25 years old. It has granite counter-tops in the kitchen and bathrooms, washer-dryer in the unit, filtered water and ice in the refrigerator door, two recliners in front of the flat-screen TV in the living area, a recliner in the master bedroom for a private “get-away” to watch TV or read, TVs in each bedroom and ceiling fans in all rooms. We live here part of each year and know when something needs to be added or replaced.

The amenities provided by Sunchase IV Resort are unique -- 2 pools (one heated), 2 hot tubs, 2 tennis courts, 2 air-conditioned racquetball courts , 2 air-conditioned ping-pong rooms, a fitness center, a sundeck, and a library. The racquetball courts also accommodates badminton and pickleball. Nets and equipment are available for check out in the lobby free of charge.

But the main attraction at South Padre Island is the beach which attracts swimmers, walkers, fishers, & sunbathers

If you rent Unit 305 between November and mid-May, we can also offer you an opportunity to try surf fishing. We will be staying in another unit at Sunchase IV and Dean walks to the beach several times a week to try his luck. He would be happy if you joined him. Equipment and bait will be provided at no charge. Even an amateur like Dean has some good days fishing in the surf. When he does, he and Martha often take their fish to a local restaurant and order “cook your catch.” If this sounds like something you would like to try, please ask for Fisherman Dean” in the lobby at Sunchase IV. They will help us make contact so we may find a time to fish.

About Dean and Martha Isaacson

Dean (professor) and Martha (administrative assistant) both retired recently from Iowa State University (Ames, IA). We have four children and eight grandchildren. They all enjoy spending a week or more in the winter on the beach with us each year. We spend six months in Texas as 'snow birds' and the rest of our time in Iowa, Colorado, and visiting children/grand children. We have decided to avoid snow!

Why Dean and Martha Isaacson chose Gulf Coast

We first visited Sunchase IV in 1990 as a renter. We continued to rent a unit every January until 1999 when we decided to buy a unit. When we first entered the unit and saw the 10-foot-tall window wall facing the Gulf we were sold on this unit. The entry is very bright and cheery and gives a feeling of comfort when you enter. Almost all units in the Sunchase IV Resort , including this unit, have living areas facing the Gulf and bedrooms facing the Laguna Madre bay. This leads to a variety of views and either sun or shade at all times of the day. The bedrooms are on the 4th floor which keeps any noise in the 3rd floor living areas away from the sleeping areas. Speaking of noise, the building design minimizes sound from other units. We already knew about the unique amenities of the Sunchase IV complex since we had taken full advantage of them for many years before we purchased this unit. Most complexes have pools and hot tubs and some even offer tennis, fitness rooms and saunas but only Sunchase IV offers racquetball, badminton, pickle ball, a heated pool and a steam room. This made the decision to buy an easy one!

What makes this condo unique

We always enjoy our time on South Padre Island. We enjoy walking the beach. We have a favorite route on the beach to the jetty where we watch fishermen, windsurfers, swimmers and dolphins. On some of these walks we hunt for ghost shrimp that Dean uses for bait when fishing. Several times a week Dean will take the short walk from the condo and cast either ghost shrimp or frozen shrimp into the Gulf. When fish are biting, we eat the freshest fish available, often at a local restaurant where they “cook your catch.” On the occasional windy or rainy day there is still much to do at Sunchase IV. We play racquetball, badminton, and pickle ball in the air-conditioned racquetball courts. We lift weights and use the treadmill or elliptical machines in the fitness room. We then follow this with a relaxing dip in the hot tub or heated pool. Of course when the grandchildren are around, they try to do it all. After a day filled with enjoyable physical activity we like to relax in the two recliners facing the flat screen TV. I must admit that we sometimes fall asleep while watching one of our shows but this usually means we had a full day and the comfortable chairs encourage total relaxation. The one who falls asleep asks the other how the program ended.

Excellent service

I was very happy how Dean and Martha handled a very difficult situation for our family . My wife and two kids were scheduled for our summer vacation when my son had an accident and broke his arm . Martha was very helpful in renting the unit out to another party and quickly refunded out deposit and partial payment. Thank you so much !!!

We felt like guests!

We really enjoyed our stay in this condo. It was a home-away-from-home. Check in and check out were so easy. We liked having the keypad entry on the door so each family member didn't have to remember a key! I was pleased with how clean everything was. The kitchen had everything we could need. The beds and futon and chairs were all very comfortable. Martha and Dean were so helpful, taking my husband fishing and teaching us to play pickle ball and racquetball. We were glad to have some indoor activity options and we made use of the exercise room, racquetball courts, and library. The hot tub and heated pool were also enjoyed. The condo was a short walk to the beach or we could sit on the balcony of the condo and watch the waves roll in. We appreciated the many great restaurants that are within walking distance from the condo. (We would recommend Gabriella's!) Thank you so much, Martha and Dean, for your hospitality!

Wonderful condo!

We stayed in this condo from a Sunday to a Friday. This was our first trip to SPI and the whole vacation was perfect. The condo is amazing! It's roomy to spread out in, beds are very comfortable and the owners are a joy to work with. I didn't need anything while on vacation there but asked a ton of questions prior! My emails were answered super quick every time. If you want a beautiful condo with fabulous views and a quick walk to the beach this is the one for you! Next time we go to SPI we will be renting this condo again! It truly was perfect for me and my husband and two children. One thing I really want to point out is the condo has a washer and dryer in it - so needed for us! All utensils were stocked in the kitchen (including coffee mugs and wine glasses!) along with pots and pans. I want to thank the owner for the wonderful condo - you will not be disappointed with this one!

South Padre Island is a vacationer’s paradise. The sandy beaches are excellent for sunbathing, swimming, shell hunting, castle building and leisurely walking. The gulf and bay provide opportunities for surfing, kite boarding, wind surfing and fishing. A World Birding Center and a sea turtle hospital are located next to the Convention Center. Schlitterbahn Beach waterpark is just down the road...or a short walk down the beach. There are all types of restaurants in walking distance. McDonald's and Denny's are just outside our gate and with in a short walk are several cafe's and full service restaurants.

Golf: Around every bend, after every hole at South Padre Island Golf Club, you will find reasons this golf course is one of the finest in the Rio Grande Valley. Enveloped by nature, the course at South Padre Island Golf Club is truly an oasis. The club is open to the public and offers lessons, a Pro-shop, restaurant and bar.
