Escape to the Country

Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

Cottage, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)

Set in the picturesque Beaver Hills area a mere twenty minutes drive southeast of Edmonton our guest house offers clean and quiet accommodation for individuals or families of up to four. The rural setting offers quiet rest and relaxation as well as a great number of available activities weather your interests are in nature, rural life or in more urban pursuits.

With the Ministik Bird Sanctuary and Cooking Lake nearby nature is practically on your doorstep. You can go hiking, biking or canoeing in the morning; perhaps play a round of golf or lunch at a Jack Nicholas signature golf club only a few miles away in the afternoon. The city of course also offers numerous attractions too numerous to mention here which we have listed in our "things to do section".

We raise sheep, chickens and vegetables, so seasonal produce, fresh eggs and occasionally freshly baked bread are available. The house is self catering and equipped with basic kitchen facilities as well as washer and dryer.

Great Location, Cozy County Comfort, Fantastic Owners

  • 5 of 5

As a recent evacuee from Fort McMurray due to the wildfires, we soon realized that we would need a longer term solution than a hotel room. I had seen this VRBO in the past and was thrilled when Kara immediately contacted me to "Come on over". The message was heaven sent!! From the moment we arrived we were treated with exceptional kindness and warmth. All of the other reviews are absolutely true!! We highly recommend this well located, immaculate and comfy cozy home. Kara, we are eternally grateful for kindness, we will be back!!!

Memorable Stay

  • 5 of 5

I don't know where to begin! Our stay at this cottage was so memorable, it inspired us to one day have a place similar to theirs. It was quite an experience; an experience we will never forget. Our host are very hospitable but also gave us a lot of privacy. I bought my 2 year old grandson, and he got to sit on a real farmer's tractor and fed the chickens and watched the sheep. We bought fresh farm eggs for breakfast and ate some wonderful homemade bread. (best bread I have ever ate!) We have been all over the world, and have stayed in many wonderful places but this place is only 30 minutes away! It's nice to know that we have a place to relax and get away from the city from time to time.

Home away from Home

  • 5 of 5

Great "home away from home"

My friends and I loved our winter retreat at the guesthouse. All of the amenities you could need of were thought of. We found our accommodations to be cozy and functional, nothing was lacking. You can really tell the owners have such pride in ownership and a flair for hospitality. We all had fun exploring (and unwinding) and came home relaxed and refreshed. We have all decided to make this an annual trip and have already started planning our next visit. Everyone who has seen our photos wants to be invited along! We would highly recommend the guesthouse to anyone looking for the perfect little retreat or getaway space.

Great location, cozy and immaculate with all the amenities

  • 5 of 5

What an ideal location. Close to Edmonton and Sherwood Park, but isolated enough that you can enjoy the peace and quiet.

The cabin was immaculate, and had all the amenities you could ask for. The wifi was great, for when you want to stay connected, and it was perfect for the odd Netflix movie. The homemade apple jelly and fantastic selection of teas and other comfort items were a wonderful bonus.

Great place to relax and unwind. The views are great -- I never would have guessed how much fun I would have sheep-watching. There are tourist attractions nearby, including a bird sanctuary and Cooking Lake, if you are so inclined.

Can't wait to return!

Wonderful stay

  • 5 of 5

We held a little winter retreat here for four friends and it was a lovely spot to cook meals together in the fully equipped kitchen, hole up in the cozy living room, and go for walks down a country road into the wilderness area across the way. Lovely accommodating hosts. The day we were there, we were able to purchase fresh baked bread, homemade preserves and fresh farm eggs.

The Ultimate Alberta Experience

  • 5 of 5

An amazing little spot tucked away in a picture=perfect location that feels away from it all while keeping you close to everything the city of Edmonton has to offer. Spacious rooms and lovely outdoor areas to enjoy, both fully equipped with all the amenities to make ourselves right at home. Décor exudes a country charm that kept us nestled in its cosy warmth. Delectable homemade preserves with farm fresh eggs for breakfast, combined with the gracious hospitality of owner Kara, made our stay unforgettable. We were so grateful for the chance to experience this little retreat from our hectic lives and this was the ideal place for us to get recharged. We recommend that you treat yourself to the ultimate Alberta experience when you visit, by reserving this one-of-a-kind spot for your very own.
