Why Cindy Weller chose Placencia Peninsula

We fell in love with the laid-back little fishing village of Placencia after discovering it just by chance. We liked it so much that we returned often - each time for longer and longer stays - and ultimately retired here, built our home and opened the large studio as a vacation rental.

What makes this studio unique

The beach and Caribbean Sea are only a 5 minute walk , and the Placencia Lagoon is right outside our door. Unlike many destinations a car isn't a necessity; beach, pier, banks, shops, restaurants, and night life are all within walking or biking distance. Snorkeling, diving, fishing, boating, and all manner of water sports are all readily available within minutes of Harbour Hideaway.

Jungle tours, cave tubing, trips to Mayan ruins and much more can be arranged within walking distance of Harbour Hideaway as well.

Clean, quiet location

The place worked great as a base for us. Owners are easy to contact and deal with. They even provided an early morning shuttle to the airport that was much appreciated. Bikes and kayaks provided. Enjoyed the top deck, watching the sunset and enjoying the cool breeze.

More than we expected

  • 5 of 5

I have to say that our hosts are very gracious. Jim picked us up at the airport and then showed us around town before taking us to our place. When we walked into our waterfront studio we were stunned. It was beautiful and very spacious. Our hosts further provided a cell phone with numbers already on the phone. They also provided the transportation upon leaving to the airport. This was more than generous of them to take the time with this.

The studio has a full kitchen, with living room area available. Laundry facilities right on site in fact just out your door. The bed and bedding are clean and comfortable. There is a queen bed, one single and a double futon. You will have a private deck or you can sit out on the pier and lounge or swim. They provide beach towels, kayaks, bicycles, and it has a safe for your valuables. While we were there the birds were nesting and we had their music to wake up to with baby birds leaving their nests. ( A little noisy but we enjoyed)

It is only minutes to downtown but I would suggest that you get a cart if you are going to go to town often especially if it is during the day (between 9 am and 5pm) It is very hot. We walked (which is not far or hard) but if you do that make sure to do it early or later in the afternoon when the sun is going down. And take your water....

The views from the deck or pier are of the canal and mangroves it is a beautiful setting to just enjoy. We actually only went to town if needed for groceries, eating out, or on a trip. We spent a couple of days just lounging on the pier. Truly restful. The sunsets are spectacular.

We were there during Easter weekend and thankfully this property is not located in the downtown area, so downtown noise does not disturb your peace.

Make sure to have your bug spray because early morning or at dusk the no see ums and the mosquitoes come out. But to be truthful we did not suffer from them too much.

It was about 20 minute walk to Yoli's where we caught DaytripperDan for the catamaran snorkeling trip.

About 10 minute walk to the M&M gas station to catch Barebones Monkey River trip with Percy

And we were picked up and dropped off at our personal pier by Mark from Cayequest for a snorkeling trip to Pumpkin Caye

How could it get any better than that.

Trust me when I say this was a gem of a place and I truly appreciate the care our hosts took in our welfare. I hope to go back again. Thank you Jim and Cindy for a fabulous vacation....

Harbour Hideaway-A great stay!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Harbour Hideaway for four nights the first week in June. Jim picked us up at the airport and gave us a tour of the small town of Placencia. The pictures of the studio apt don't do it justice. It's much larger with a great view of the dock and canal behind it. The property is full of beautiful landscaping with a large mango tree which was full of ready to eat mango's. Included in the rental were bikes, which is all you need for transportation, and kayaks we used every day to explore the canals and mangroves. The view from the 3rd story lookout is spectacular! Cindy worked most of the time but Jim was available for anything we needed. We also learned a lot about the area, over a few beers, and the difficulties of building a home in a different country. We highly recommend the Harbour Hideaway and want to thank Jim & Cindy for the great time. S&C

Belize is UnBelizeable

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Harbour Hideaway was the best. Jim and Cindy made us feel like family. Their studio was perfect for what we needed. They had everything: beach towels, kayaks and they even borrowed an extra bike from a friend so our whole family could have one. They were very thoughtful. It is in a great location and it is very clean. Our vacation will be remember for always.

A little piece of paradise

  • 5 of 5

Harbor Hideaway was a comfortable, lovely place to stay at for our first time visit to the town of Placencia.

We stayed for over a week enjoying the comfort and privacy of the large studio apartment on the waterfront. Surrounded by tropical plants and exotic birds. The beach, restaurants and shops were only a walking distance away. We also had fun exploring the island by golf cart and boat. Our hosts Cindy and Jim were very kind and helpful.

We look forward to going back and would recommend Harbor Hideaway to anyone looking to visit paradise.

A Perfect Christmas

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Harbour Hideaway for a week that included Christmas. It was myself and my two teenage boys. We were looking for a place to relax and enjoy all of the wonderful things there is to do in Belize.

We found that in Harbor Hideaway and so much more. We were treated like family from the minute we arrived. The hideaway was much more than we expected. The place was very clean and had everything you could possibly want in a vacation rental.

We were lucky enough to be there for Christmas and were invited to the owners Christmas dinner with all of their friends. We had an incredible time meeting everyone and getting to know more locals. The food was fantastic and the company even better.

I would recommend the hideaway to anyone going to Placencia village. It is in a great location and the place is just wonderful.

My boys are bugging me to take them back this summer.
