An informal but comfortable waterfront home situated on a quiet inlet off sparkling West Neck Harbor.
Watch the sun rise over the water while enjoying your morning coffee or host afternoon cookouts on the covered patio (the large circular driveway provides ample parking for lucky guests) while the kids splash in the indoor pool. (Since they can swim anytime, rain or shine, there's no 'what do we do now? if it pours! And you can keep an eye on them right from the kitchen.) You're steps from the beach as well.
Inside, enjoy the delightful airy feeling created by the vaulted ceiling over the open living/dining area, around whose inviting fireplace family and friends invariably gather come evening - all in view (as is the water) off the sweeping second - floor balcony. You'll love the warmth and casual atmosphere of this uniquely versatile retreat, which while secluded is conveniently located just a short drive from the island's shops and restaurants. Nearby too are Perlman Music Center (founded by world-renowned violinist Itzak Perlman), Mashomack Nature Preserve and Camp Quinipet, where both kids and adults can enroll in sailing school.
We had a group of ten as and was the headquarters for my wedding party. House is amazing and and very comfortable. The indoor pool was a huge bonus. We spent most of our time on the back patio which is right on a gorgeous river and one of the most relaxing places. The owners were the nicest people and were a pleasure to deal with. This was my first vrbo experience and I couldn't have been happier. Would definitely go back in a heartbeat. Some of my guests even left some things behind and they happily shipped them back to me. 5 stars all the way.
We had a rather large group of 12 and the house accommodated us perfectly, the great room and dinning area were just wonderful, we never felt crowded. The kids loved the indoor pool as did the moms. The views of the water from the covered patio are just lovely. I most enjoyed sneaking out the back door at the crack of dawn to my boat for a little fishing and upon my return the grand kids would be up begging to go water tubing. The peacefulness of the island is priceless.
I don't even know where to begin on how amazing this place is. There were 8 adults in my group and the house accommodated us perfectly. There was plenty of room. The kitchen had everything we needed to make meals. The living space was to die for! It following into a covered out door area with generous seating.
We had so much fun just in the outdoor space. The house is right on the water and the views are just stunning.
The owners were awesome to work with. They answered all of my questions and made me feel comfortable with my first VRBO experience. I hope to have an opportunity to stay at their home again.
The Owners of the House could not have been nicer and easier to plan our trip. Communications was easy by all means via cell, email or USPS mail. My family has been getting together for an annual Family Get-Away for 25 years. The House is the best. The very large dining table allowed my entire family to sit around to talk, eat and share fellowship. The living room set up with the two couches, two sitting chairs and small round table allowed everyone to gather together in the same area but be able to sit in small groups and catch up with stories since our last gathering last year. The beds and bedrooms were comfortable and restful. The outdoor under cover deck was as perfect as perfect can be. To be able to enjoy the outdoors and to be protected from the direct sun was very important to all. However, we also enjoyed being able to sit on the lower outdoor deck which was protected by a large shade tree. The heated indoor swim pool was a treat that was the best. For us, our group arrived by boat. We did not have a car. The floating dock and tie off bulkhead with deep water was perfect for us. The house is in easy walking distance to the beach. Everyone was sad to leave on Sunday. For anyone considering Shelter Island, the peacefulness and house are the best.
Thank you, The Avedesian Family, Rhode Island & Maryland.
We stayed at this home for 4 nights for a family wedding on Shelter Island in mid-September. From the moment we arrived, the house was perfect: we had a large party - several couples, a young child, several adults who wanted their own sleeping spaces - and the house was perfect for accommodating everyone. Moreover, its central but somewhat secluded location, gorgeous water view and ample outdoor seating, not to mention the indoor pool, made it an ideal place for a large family gathering. This house made our wonderful wedding weekend that much more wonderful! Thank you!
This home is just that- a wonderful home to relax and enjoy time with family. The location is perfect for kayaking, canoeing (equipment provided) and swimming. We would come back from a great day on the water and relax in the pool or on the porch overlooking the dock. The kitchen was very well stocked to be able to make any gourmet meal. From steamer pots for clams and lobsters to an great dutch oven for some osso bucco the next night. Was able to cook the way I love, but never have the time. The husband was even able to have a grilling night. The bedrooms had excellent bedding and were very comfortable. This was a home away from home. Sally was a dream to work with. She obviously loves her home and it shows in all the details of this vacation rental. Hope to do this every summer. Thanks, Sally!
