We absolutely loved Condo 1526 at Hanalei Bay Resort. The resort itself was incredible. Gorgeous pool, golf courses, and various areas to enjoy the views of the bay, including a romantic electric fireplace on the lawn. I was impressed by the natural rocky design of the pool area, especially the warm sandy bottom of the jacuzzi (unfortunately it was broken for two days of our stay, but understand that sometimes you run into these technical issues!).
The views from the balcony were incredible and fairly private. We loved waking up and enjoying our morning coffee with the views of the waterfalls, mountains, floral trees and birds! There was nightly music at the cocktail lounge, and the woman at the concierge (I think her name was Kohu? Apologies if that is incorrect!) was very friendly and helpful. Ask her for any recommendations on local events going on the week of your stay. Comfortable bed, clean & spacious room, fridge & freezer, and shops nearby for all necessities. The local town is full of unique stores and galleries. We recommend Kauai Nut Roasters and the Hanalei Bread and Coffee Co, Haena beach park and Tunnels beach, as well as wandering down to the lovely beach below the resort. The drive to the South Shore and Poipu area is well worth it to enjoy the sunset views and whale watching.
No surprising extra fees, just the rate you agree to and the resort fees which are outlined on the Aloha Condo website!
We loved our stay at the Hanalei Bay Resort! The property was a Hawaiian heaven. The beach down below was perfect for sunbathing and snorkeling. The new bar "Happy Talk" was excellent to catch happy hour or watch a game overlooking the property. The pool and Jacuzzi was perfect to soak in. Would have loved to use the gym facilities but ran out of time. Loved the nearby quirky town of Hanalei and the great restaurants, farmers markets, boutique shops, etc. Hiked the Napali coast which was a short scenic drive. We didn't get a single drop of rain. This unit is very basic but clean. Updated kitchenette area which was useful. Bathroom could use some updates but everything worked great and served it's purpose. Bed was super comfy. View of the valley/mountain from the balcony was gorgeous. Our only complaint is that the shower could use a new curtain as it smelled like a sweaty gym locker room. Overall a great home base at a wonderful property that we will visit again on our next trip to Kauai. Thanks for having us!
This place was very fancy and nice after we got off the Kalalau Trail for 4 days! It was very clean and the grounds are beautiful. The view of the mountains from this room are breathtaking. We took advantage of the pool! Everyone there is very helpful. If you want to come play tennis, this is your place (wasn't our thing). There were a few things I wanted to make note of though. The last night when I turned the AC on a HUGE cockroach flew out! This room also has a common door inside with another unit right next to it (locked both sides). The couple or family that was in that unit when we were in ours were very loud. The door is very thin and you can pretty much hear everything they are saying and doing. We had to turn the TV on a few times to muffle the noise and feel like we had privacy. Because of this, it was more peaceful to be out of the room than in it sometimes. The place is pretty far from everything and places to eat near by are far and in between. With that said, getting to the beach is a quick walk down the path. Watching the sunset from there is a must see!
HBR 1526 is a very spacious studio. The bed and pillows are very comfortable, and it is nice to have a dining table and chairs, and full counter for "kitchen" prep (although have to use sink in bathroom). Do your research; most HBR studios do not have the dining table and chairs, and have very small prep space.
The location is private and serene, with the lush tropical landscaping and mountain views, easy access to main building and pool.
The Aloha Condos staff was very responsive. When we arrived there was only one towel and one washcloth for the 8 days, so I called and even though housekeeping staff had left for the day, she came back and took care of the problem.
The not so great details? The tub didn't drain well; in fact, the "closer" didn't work at all so you can't fill up the tub to take a bath. The grout around the tub needs to be replaced, it is stained and unsightly. Otherwise, the bathroom is fine; good showerhead. There could be some type of drawers added under the sink; that would be a nice touch.
The large upholstered chair in the living space was beautiful to look at and very comfortable, but had a strong musty/mildew smell so I couldn't sit in it. I have allergies to that type of thing.
Nice beach items - cooler, chairs, umbrella, boogie boards. There was also a welcome basket that was a nice touch.
Overall, a good stay.
We loved our stay here. The condo is located near the parking lot, pool, and not far from the front desk. The view is beautiful! We really enjoyed the resort amenities, such as the beautiful pool. The grounds were well kept and beautiful! I would definitely stay here again.
We had wished the fridge was a bit bigger, but there is no place for that in this quaint little space. There was some black mold in the bathtub, which was falling into the bath when I was trying to soak. I am allergic to mold, so that made me quite itchy. You might want to consider changing out the throw pillow covers, as they have mold on them as well.
We stayed for 9 nights in April and it was wonderful. The studio was spacious, clean, and well-equipped with everything we needed. It was nice to see that there were plates, bowls, glasses, utensils, a microwave, a toaster oven, a little fridge, and lots of beach gear available for use. It is also close to the parking lot, which is a nice touch. While there are more updated units at this place, the price was right and our stay was extremely comfortable. Can't wait to stay again!
