Perfect accommodation

  • 5 of 5

We travelled from Australia and stayed here in October 2017 for the Ironman with a party of 25. We booked 6 rooms directly through Holly Cunningham who was an absolute delight to deal with. No request was too hard, the booking process was so simple and gave me every confidence the accommodation would be great. Rooms #307 #422 #203 #205 #214 #221 were exactly as described - the pictures on line didn't do them justice. Spacious, great decor, spotlessly clean, all new appliances, ice maker in the fridge, fully equipped with utensils, glasses etc, huge washing machine and dryer. Beds very comfortable, including the fold out couches that some rooms have. No issues when we asked for extra linen. Rooms are fully self contained. Some have porta cots for babies. Free wi-fi that works well.

Full views of the surf, turtles on the sand, fully functioning clean BBQ. Snorkel, surfboard etc hire on site. Great pool and relaxing area on site as well.

Anything we wanted Holly responded to via text or in person within the hour.

Accomodation is on the run course about 3.5klms from start/finish

Staying here was relaxing and stress free, I cannot recommend Holly's rooms highly enough and our whole group agreed. Note: make sure you get in contact with Holly to ensure you get the best rooms. She manages about 15 rooms.

Nice unit

  • 4 of 5

The condo was nice, but we were not happy with the location. Too far from any restaurants and Kona traffic sucks. This will be our last trip to Kona. We experienced a couple of problems in the unit, but Jack quickly responded to fix. Holly was pleasant to deal with. She met us upon arrival, which was important since the lock box number she provided in our confirmation had been chamged. Da Poke Shack which is in the building was excellent. There is no beach here, but we knew that in advance. We loved the covered lanai which got warm afternoon sun. 4 ceiling fans in unit and one on lanai provided cooling, which was a must. Plenty of parking under the building. Lots of surfing in big waves within view which was fun to watch. Several turtles sunned themselves on sand or rocks, but water was too rough for us to see any in the water. Fully equipped kitchen, particularly after Jack brought a new supply of dinnerware (several pieces were missing upon arrival). Bed could be replaced with one that does not go thump, thump every time you roll over.

Owner's Response: Aloha, and thank you for your review . . I'm so sorry to hear that you weren't actually happy with your experience at the resort, it's location, or with Kona in general. You do obviously have your reasons why things weren't right for you, but luckily, 99% of all guests LOVE Kona, and the resort, and their condos, and would not go to any other island anymore. Of course, traffic is bad on all of the major islands, (MUCH worse on Maui and Oahu) and Kona's is catching up to Maui with back up, but luckily, that is mostly due to some major highway construction here between the airport and town. Should be done this year, and that will be quite an improvement. I do want to clarify to others reading the review that there is most definitely a beach in front of the resort. . . just not a swim beach, nor a long sprawling beach, but that is pretty obvious from the photos. It is a beach however, with lounge chairs and tide pools to dip in. Also, there is a very large tide pool located right in front of the middle of the oceanfront building that always has several turtles in it that can even be seen from the 4th floor units, so again, ALWAYS plenty of turtles to see in the water, and on the beach sunning themselves. And, of course, a GREAT snorkeling spot just 2 miles from condos where you can be in the water with as many turtles as you'd like. There is one mentioned item that I actually feel is more of a valid criticism about something not up to par and that is about the bed . . . . and that can, and will, be remedied. Had I heard about the bed issue from you while in the unit, I would have had it corrected, as that is what I do if at all possible right during someone's stay. I hope that your next vacation experience is a better one for you overall! Holly

Beautiful Oceanfront Condo!

  • 5 of 5

This condo was absolutely perfect, from the well equipped kitchen, to the beautiful lanai overlooking the ocean. The kitchen was very well equipped, with plenty of cookware, spices, etc. The condo was comfortable and clean, and very convenient to Kona! There was a small, private beach where we could lay out in the sun right below the lanai, too. Parking was covered and private, which was also a plus. We will definitely stay here again!

Great place

  • 5 of 5

Overall, a great place to stay. I'd stay here again, but here's a summary of my experience. The positives:

1) It is clean, modern place that's well decorated with a great view. It was well stocked with everything--dishes, beach umbrellas, binoculars, and much more.

2) Good location. You're close to stores, downtown Kona (assuming you like it, we didn't) as well as good beaches.

3) Da Poke Shack is part of the complex One of the better poke places on the island is literally a stones throw.

4) Even though its in a large complex on a busy street, its very private.

5) Responsive maintenance team. Had a minor problem that was fixed very quickly.

Negatives (pretty minor stuff...)

1) The pool with the complex is small and not super attractive. For me, not a big deal at all since I'm a beach person. Some may think differently.

2) No workout area in the complex.

I'd stay here again...

Bali Kai

  • 5 of 5

This was our second time at the Kona Bali Kai in this unit. This stay was wonderful again. The location and parking work really well for us. Holly is awesome to set up the reservation and the condo was spotless and ready for us just like last year. Love seeing the turtles, surfers and sunse9ts off the lani! The condo is equipped with everything we could possibly need. We will continue to book through Holly in the future ! Mahalo

Awesome beach front view

  • 5 of 5

The view from the lanai is fantastic, hearing the waves crashing on shore all night was awesome. The interior of 214 is upgraded and well appointed, no disappointment there. The pool is area is small with more road noise than I would like.......but who comes to Hawaii to use the pool? Alii drive has a fair amount of traffic, however wth an ocean side condo you never hear it. Well worth the extra cost, I wouldn't book a unit on the island side of the street.

The shared BBQ area is very nice and the staff keeps the grills very clean and well maintained. We used them every night except one. I highly recommend getting fresh local fish from the KTA grocery store just a couple of miles away.

Holly was great to work with and I would book a unit through her again any time.
