After an active day out in the plein aire of Provence, enjoy the comforts of La Baume des Pelerins.
The name, La Baume is a commonly used Provencal word which means “grotto or cave' of the pilgrims.
It is a beautiful, modern home in a very old building. The feel is very much one of today’s Provencal home - a wonderful combination of local character, décor and use of space combined with today’s Provencal style.
La Baume des Pèlerins is literally about one minute’s walk from the village square.
Arriving at this home through an elegant iron double gate, into the ground floor vestibule, there is a noticeable feeling of charm and comfort. The entryway takes you upstairs (from the “Rez-de-chaussee” or street level), to a light, bright great room. Very stylish, it was recently remodeled and decorated beautifully. The great room is a combination of Living, Dining and a beautifully appointed kitchen. .

.... calm …. cool ……. relaxing.. or a great place for kids with a table tennis (ping pong) table and space to play. It makes its way from the entry vestibule, with its dark tiled floor and white washed sandstone walls, right into the hill that our village is built on. A great place to have a casual outdoor meal, enjoy aperitifs before your meal, lay back and read a book in the coolness and relaxing atmosphere. The baume is furnished with a teak table and chairs, a buffet and a ping pong table. This area is adjacent to the Summer Kitchen which allows you to prepare meals downstairs on summer days.
Our guests can enjoy a game of Ping Pong (Table Tennis) in this space as it is set up with a full sized table, Ping Pong bats and balls.
Our baume takes full advantage of the hillside location of the village. As you breakfast here, the morning light streams into the east facing space and reflects off the back wall creating a picture perfect moment. In the heat of the day, the stone walls of the sandstone hill provide a cool repose for lunch. Dinner here is special – especially with a bottle of our great Sablet wine ………… this is a truly unique and very Provencal outdoor space.
Adjacent to the baume is similar area set up for two purposes – it has one area that serves as the utility/laundry area, that also functions as a “summer kitchen” with a hot plate, microwave/convection oven, refrigerator, a 'plancha-style barbecue' and is equipped with essentials for cooking so that you can cook or prepare meals with ease and convenience “outdoors” on summer days.

Just letting you know that we have been back from our holiday for nearly two weeks now - it was just wonderful. Sablet was beautiful and your accommodation a credit to you. It was our best in the whole five weeks.
My wife and I stayed at La Baume for the first 10 days in April before moving over to Maison des Pelerins for the remainder of the month. The experience was extraordinary, because our expectations were exceeded at every turn. Both properties looked great on the website and each was, in reality, better than they appeared. Immaculate living space, professionally equipped kitchen, beautifully maintained throughout. Both the owner and the on-site manager could not have been more thoughtful, attentive and professional. I would not only recommend the properties to a relative, we brought my daughter and son-in-law over to stay with us for the last week. Provence, of course, is magnificent and this storybook village made for a vacation we will never forget.
A magic week in a magnificent village and an extraordinary home. Modern and luxurious accommodation with a magnificent cave entrance. A space to relax and reflect at the end of the day over a glass of local wine and a plate of market produce. Easy walk to neighbouring villages, visit local vineyards and socialise with the Sablet locals. Can't wait to get back!
Although we had not travelled in Provence for 20 years we chose to experience traveling in September 2012 by renting three different village houses. We were fortunate to find La Baume des Perlerins available during the week we wanted to be in the Sablet area. A friend joined us from Salcombe for the week and the house layout accommodated the three of us beautifully.
We structured our days with destination restaurants for long lunches accompanied by village walks
and one day a hike into the Dentelle Mountains. This was followed by dinner preparations in-house in the evenings comprised of that which we had gathered at various open markets during the week. The
markets at Vaison la Romaine, Sablet, and St. Cecile one day supplied a bounty of citrolles (mushrooms) zuchini and tomatoes plus wonderful fresh fruit. The local baker & butcher provided
main ingredients although a fish truck does arrive in Sablet one day a week.
La Baume des Pelerins contemporary kitchen provided every item we needed to produce or try to re-produce a dish we had experienced for one of our long lunches. What fun. Within a day you are on
"bon jour" basis with half a dozen shop keepers and you are made to feel that you are a part of this
The weather in September was outstanding. And our daily excursions to nearby villages was made easier by the convenience of parking near La Baume des Pelerins. All in all we enjoyed a delightful
time, all made more perfect by this well run, fresh, airy, well appointed accommodation. Merci
Thanks for accommodating us on the spur of the moment. We enjoyed the home and its lovely and relaxing decor. The kitchen was so well equipped - the best we've seen in a vacation rental, and cooking meals was really delightful. Even in the fall weather, it was a warm and inviting place to be. Very relaxing too. We enjoyed the village atmosphere, with the bakeries, the restaurants stores and shops and the ringing of the village church bells. We liked our stay so much that we have recommended to our daughter and son in law that they stay at La Baume des Pelerins when the visit Provence later this year. Will we return? Very soon.
We spent two fantastic weeks at la baume des pelerins on a biking vacation in Provence. The house was well furnished (very comfortable) and equipped (especially the kitchen). We had a good time cooking local foods we bought at different little towns and villages during our rides. The "baume" was the perfect place for our bicycles at the end of each day, as there was locked storage for them. Sablet is the perfect base for a sightseeing by bike vacation and we found the information package provided to us by the owner (about biking and sightseeing in the area) to be extremely informative and helpful. Having dinner in the baume with lots candles was definitely a first for us and very fun.
Thank you. We have recommended la baume to many of our friends.
This home was well maintained and stocked -- great for cooking dinners. We loved exploring the surrounding areas and market days in Vaison la Romaine (the best), Orange, and Carpentras. Avignon was an easy 40-minute drive. Exercised each morning along vineyards with amazing aromas and enjoyed tasting and buying wine from the local wineries. Made some nice feline friends too. Enjoyed walking the paths through this small circular village. Very much appreciated the owner-provided color print book with info/pictures of the area that was sent to us before the trip. Only negatives: The 1.5 bath description is a little misleading-- there is one room with a shower and sink/vanity; down the hall is a small closet-sized room with only a toilet; living room felt a little closed in, as the windows face directly into high outside walls or neighbors' windows, forcing us to keep the blinds closed.
