About Mary Chadwick
My husband John and I (Mary) purchased the house for future retirement. We'll split our time between Bend and Naples, Fl. We have 3 children. We currently reside in Cincinnati, OH.
Mary Chadwick purchased this House in 2010
Why Mary Chadwick chose River West
We bought the house in Bend because of the climate and outdoor activities. The history and character, combined with the location sold us on the house.

The house was awesome.
The house was terrific. Travelling with 3 grandkids (6, 7, and 9). They loved the yard. It had all the amenities we needed.
Bend spring break
Beautiful house downtown. Close to everything. Lots of room and stocked kitchen made cooking together fun and easy. Sound system was a plus, would definitely stay again.
Nicely restored home in the period of its origin and yet everything is up to date and modern.
Perfect house. We walked everywhere. Convenient to coffee, restaurants, shopping and just walking through beautiful historic neighborhoods and along the Mirror Pond waterfront.
Great stay for a ski getaway
Recently stayed here and the house is beautiful! Historical charm with modern conveniences. The best appointed kitchen I've seen at a VRBO property. Close to downtown Bend and restaurants. About 30 minutes from Mt. Bachelor ski resort. The owner Mary was very helpful during the booking process and everything went smoothly. Highly recommended; would stay here again!
Great classic home in quiet, convenient neighborhood.
Came to Bend for some R&R and skiiing. Well the skiing wasn’t great because of the unseasonably warm weather but the R&R was great in this amazing home. The location on the west side, half a block from everything cool to do and eat on Newport Ave could not be beat. The house itself was breathtaking. The architecture and attention-to-detail craftsmanship of this classic home was an underestimated surprise. If you love old houses, you will love this house. This is not a drafty old house - it has a wonderful heating system that kept all three levels a constant temp. The old floors do creek a bit but in a great-old-house kind of way which only added to the experience. Upgraded kitchen was beautiful. Backyard fire pit was put to good use for s’mores and stories from our daily adventures. The master bedroom/bath was very spacious and looked like it was right out of a home magazine. Lots of room to spread out. The owner was very accommodating. We will be back!
Historical Gem in Perfect Location
This house was lovely - inside and out. All features of the home are wonderfully restored where you feel as if you have stepped back in time with all the modern conveniences. The house is a short walk to Mirror Pond and to downtown. I parked my car and kept it in the driveway for most of my stay which was sheer heaven for a person who spends 15 hours in her car commuting each week. The house was close enough to Newport Market where you could easily carry home two full bags of groceries.
It was located in a very quiet neighborhood. The house was warm and inviting and during the day there was beautiful light during different times of the day throughout the house. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, cooking utensils, and pots and pans. We were able to prepare several meals there and easily have guests over for dinner.
The bedrooms are spaced out where there is enough privacy for all. Historical details throughout the house made it warm and inviting.
I'd give it ten stars if I could and I hope to return someday soon! Highly recommended as you can tell this house is well tended and loved by the owners who are very gracious. Thank you so much for sharing your home!
