Enjoy a week on the water in our river home, a spacious 3 bedroom, 2 bath home located near two quaint towns along the majestic St. Croix River: Hudson, WI., and Stillwater, MN. We are just steps away from the water where a huge 12 foot by 40 foot dock awaits. If you don't feel like being outside, there is a large enclosed porch with huge windows to watch the boats slowly troll by. We have 100 feet of private frontage with a sandy beach and for those of you who worry about current, there is little, as the river is very wide and slow moving. The dock will no doubt provide hours of endless entertainment watching the boats lazily drift by. And the best part is that we are in a no wake zone, so there is no danger of boats speeding past and ruining your precious relaxation time.
Within a two minute bike ride, you can access the Afton bike trail and ride into the historic town of Afton for a huge waffle cone at Selma's or maybe you would prefer a martini at the Sail Away Cafe. You can even ride across the bridge into the state of Wisconsin to Hudson where there is excellent live theatre at the Phipps, or great dining along the river at the Pier 500 Restaurant.
We are also just a 10 minute drive from Stillwater, the birthplace of Minnesota, and arguably Minnesota's greatest town, with its steep hills, great views, phenomenal antique shops and breathtaking paddle boats. There is so much to do, and so little time. One of our favorite things to do is have a cheese plate and glass of pinot noir at the Dock Cafe. Amazing food and great views. For those who like a fun place to hang out and listen to a band into the late hours of the night, PD Pappy's provides a great time.
Maybe you are an early riser, and would prefer a kayak ride (we have two). There is some amazing wild life to see. This morning, I saw a group of 12 egrets preening in a bay, and a pair of bald eagles were perched in a huge cottonwood above our home. If you love to fish, rumor has it that the walleyes bite often. We have some poles out on the porch, along with some lures. Best of luck and we can't wait to hear the fish stories.
We are also close to Interstate 94 and within 25 to 30 minutes you can be in St. Paul or Minneapolis where city life awaits. Why not take in a Twin's game, or go and see the new Guthrie Theatre, which is architecturally breathtaking. Maybe your goal is to see the place where Mary Tyler Moore threw her hat into the air. The options are limitless. There are even a couple of great shopping malls close by, either Woodbury Lakes, or the Mall of America.
Our home is definitely comfortable and clean, but not fancy. The kitchen and living room were updated in the fall of 2016 with some rustic but modern touches. We wanted it to feel more like a cozy cabin than a city home. However, with 2600 square feet of finished space, you will have ample room to move around and enjoy your surroundings. We do have the kitchen stocked with pots, pans, dishes, etc..., and we hope that you can whip up some great meals to enjoy on the huge lower level porch. We are close by and can be easily reached if there is anything else that you might need. We want your experience to be a pleasant one.

My wife and I always joke about how we came to own this house. It started with her saying she wanted a boat. That led to me buying a truck, which led to us renting a slip, which led to much frustration and expense, which led to me looking for property, which left her saying, 'All I wanted was a boat.' We bought our home when our boys were young and wanted them to grow up with great memories of life on the river. They spent countless hours jumping on the Rave trampoline, swimming with their friends and learning to navigate a boat on the St. Croix. We have never regretted living in this beautiful river valley and can't wait to share it with you.
JT purchased this House in 1999
Why JT chose Hudson
-my grandparents had a cottage in Lake St. Croix Beach, and as a child, there was no place better to be than going to spend some time with them on the river. My uncle continued the tradition and purchased their cottage and we continued the to enjoy the St. Croix valley. When I grew up, and finally had the chance to purchase some waterfront property, I knew there was only once place for me: the St. Croix.
What makes this House unique
-life jackets -bike trail -kayaking -fishing -sandy beach -huge dock -option to park your boat -no wake zone -friendly neighbors -quiet road -easy access to Hwy. 94 -children's park one block away

Fantastic!! Well furnished and cozy
We usually visit in the summer but seeing the river in the winter is terrific.
We have used this property many times now for a retreat weekend. The property is clean and well situated. The owner is extremely helpful. What more could you want?
What a lovely spot, with the St Croix River at our door step, plenty of comfortable seating for six high school friends to gather, chat, laugh and have fun. We had everything we needed, the owners have done a great job of thinking of everything, as very clean and inviting. All six of us would highly recommend the location and this rental property!
Great new kitchen remodel
The furnishings and decor are excellent !! Everything you could ask for , convenient to every past time from shopping to kayaking to relaxing
We will be back next year!!!
Good location, good times.
Our family had a great time kayaking, swimming, etc. The layout of the house seemed a little strange to me but then I live in a ranch style house. Nice house and would recommend it to anyone wanting a lot of room to socialize. Plenty of towels and amenities. The beach and water were great for the kids to play, swim, & kayak. The 4 yr old had a great time collecting shells. Great vacation!
Great summer vacation location!
This place was wonderful for a summer getaway. We were there for a long weekend and found the house well stocked with everything needed. Lots of kitchen utensils, dishes and cooking items. Comfy beds and nice linens. Lots of outdoor play items including floaters, kayaks, games, fishing poles and more. We had great weather so we were outside to enjoy the beach and dock most of the time. Watching the large boats go by was great entertainment and we also enjoyed exploring with our kayaks. Lots of nice beaches and areas to swim. Stillwater and Hudson very close and Willow River State Park was fun to explore. Also enjoyed the bike path. Owners were responsive. Would love going back someday as so much to enjoy in the area.
