About The Owner

Gary & Marti Barmore discovered Tahoe Vista when Marti's brother and his family moved there over 30 years ago. It wasn't long before Gary & Marti fell in love with a Tahoe style home of their own on the North Shore! Gary liked the large garage and Marti liked the spacious kitchen. They added a second story in 1999 and have added other rooms and many amenities to provide comfort for their family and guests. While they still live in southern California, they visit their beloved second home regularly to enjoy and maintain its pristine condition. As for renting it to guests, Gary likes to tell people, "It's like we're running a Bed-and-Breakfast, but we're just not there to fix breakfast!"

The Owner purchased this house in 1989

Why The Owner chose Lake Tahoe North Shore CA

Classic Tahoe home, fabulous location, wonderful recreation and restaurants, wilderness and amenities nearby, easy access ... a no-brainer!

Walking distance to beaches and restaurants, quite neighborhood, flat access in snow, relaxing backyard in spring, summer and fall. New outdoor jacuzzi for 3-4 people.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Well Cared For

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at Rhapsody Lodge. The house is in a great spot for both snow and lake fun. Marti and Gary were very helpful and their inviting home is full of charm (we loved the year in pictures book and history of the cabin). Rhapsody lodge is well cared for, as were we as guests!

Great house, very clean

  • 5 of 5

Spent five days spanning President's Day here with four adults and four kids, had a fantastic time. We have been renting homes in North Shore for years and have never had a cleaner house, nor such a well-appointed kitchen. Garage parking, great fireplace, kid-friendly jacuzzi, nice location, owners were responsive and easy to work with -- nothing not to like. Plus it snowed, and there were two snowball makers in the garage!

Had we invited another couple to come with us it may have been slightly tight quarters despite the advertised 5 bedrooms. To get to a smaller 'kids' bedroom one must pass through a bigger bedroom; and one of the double beds is located in a nook area off the stairs. So depending on the kid/adult sleeping arrangements, there could be slightly less privacy to three of the five bedrooms. But for our purposes it worked great!

Great location & lovely home

  • 5 of 5

I rented this home for myself, husband and my siblings when my daughter was married in Carnelian Bay. We were impressed with how well appointed the kitchen was...everything we could possibly need was available and of good quality. The kitchen and living room were spacious and easily accommodated all of us as we visited, cooked and ate together. The bedroom decor themes were all different, and we enjoyed the country feel. Overall we had a great time and would definitely return to this property.

Charming, immacualte, well locataed house!

  • 5 of 5

I take my family every year to Tahoe for the 4th. This was, by far, the nicest house we've ever rented and I highly recommend Rhapsody at the Blue!

The house is conveniently located; it's an easy walk (about 10 minutes) to a great beach (Moon Dunes Beach) and a very short drive or bicycle ride (just about a mile) to Safeway, dining, shopping and entertainment in Kings Beach. It is situated in a quiet, charming (and level - think bicycle riding) neighborhood.

The house itself was immaculate and charming. The owners have obviously put a lot of effort into the property. Everything in it is well thought out and well laid out.

There is a fine line, in my humble opinion, between a vacation rental being too professionally set up and yet still be "welcoming'. What I mean is sometimes a vacation rental can be so well set up, full of so many instructions and rules, that you're afraid to settle in, relax and enjoy yourself. These owners have found that perfect space between the two! It was fastidiously put together but also so welcoming at the same time.

Also, as other have mentioned the owners are very responsive and easy to communicate with. My family loved the house and we will be back!

8th Annual Trip to Rhapsody at the Blue!

  • 5 of 5

While in college years ago, I organized a Tahoe trip for a group of dorm friends and we were lucky to randomly find Rhapsody at the Blue online. We loved the cabin so much that we have booked it for 8 annual trips! My family has also rented the cabin for use by ages 55+ to 3 years old. The cabin is extremely charming, in a great location (very close to ski resorts, a grocery store, and, of course, the lake), and contains everything you would ever need. Most importantly, the owners are great to rent from. They are extremely responsive and provide the most detailed information to ensure everyone enjoys their stay without any issues. I highly recommend Rhapsody at the Blue!

Great place for a family vacation

  • 5 of 5

We have been spending summer family vacations in Tahoe for over 20 years. We enjoy the more relaxed, quiet beauty of North Shore and especially like the Tahoe Vista, Kings Beach area. Of all the places we have stayed, this is by far the best. We found the perfect home for our family vacations at Rhapsody at the Blue. Everyone in the family absolutely loved this place. It is much more than just a nice cabin. It is a beautiful Tahoe home with all the amenities we need to have that perfect vacation. The location is wonderful-close to the beach, park, grocery shopping and everything we enjoy. The set up is very convenient and easily accommodated our family of 6 adults and 4 children (under the age of 6). With this large group, the 3 bathrooms really came in handy. It is well stocked with everything you need - all the kitchen cooking supplies/utensils, towels, linens, etc. It is really a great place for kids as they have a safe place to play outside while the adults can enjoy relaxing on the porch. The owners are very responsive and do everything possible to make your stay enjoyable. In summary, you can feel the passion the Barmores have for this place and the love they have put into making this home truly Rhapsody at the Blue. We no longer have to search for a place to spend our summer family vacations. This is the place.
