Overview

About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4-6)

Spectacular mountain views and a gorgeous beach provide the setting for our two-bedroom, one-bath cedar house on the rural Windward Coast of Oahu.

This is our home located on Kualoa Ranch, our family's historic and beautiful working cattle ranch. The house, a pleasant country cottage with cathedral ceilings and picture windows, sits at the mouth of the magnificent Kaaawa Valley. The view from the deck includes cattle grazing beneath fluted cliffs. Egrets, mynah birds, and cardinals abound in the garden area, and coconut palms frame a small ornamental pond.

Only steps away, across a small, two-lane road, the beach is ideal for swimming, boogie boarding, surfing, or lazing in the sun. The house is located at the mouth of Kaaawa Valley, the spectacular heart of Kualoa Ranch and the site of many movies including 50 First Dates, Mighty Joe Young, Godzilla, Jurassic Park and Jurassic World.

Opportunities to tour the valley by horseback or ATV or even on a zipline tour are provided at Kualoa Ranch just down the road.

Nestled among stands of coconut palms and hala trees, the house offers airy and spacious living and dining areas, wall-to-wall carpet and tile floors, a complete kitchen, washer and dryer, linens, and cable TV and high speed internet. There is a wrap-around deck for outdoor lounging and dining as well as a charcoal grill for outdoor cooking.

The mountain view bedroom has a queen bed and the oceanside bedroom has a queen and a twin. There is also a comfortable futon in the living room.

This is one of the most beautiful and serene locations on the island of Oahu, yet is only a 40 minute drive to Honolulu, 20 minutes to several golf courses and 30 minutes to the famous North Shore Beaches. Come and enjoy our lovely corner of the islands as much as we do!

About LaRona Bennett

The Mushroom House was built by my mother in the early 1970's on land she was given by her grandmother, Julie Judd Swanzy. The house has been enjoyed by 4 generations of our family, all of whom spent much of their time growing up on our family ranch, Kualoa.

Amazing view. However, there are a lot of improvements and cleaning that should be done...

The location and the view is stunning. Slightly disappointed with the amount of cockroaches and bugs in the house. 15 in the master bedroom alone... other than that, it was great.

The property is absolutely great!! Beautiful scenery, breezy home a skip from the beach. Birds chirping, lizard crawling calm atmosphere! The mountain view was icing on the cake. The house is well kept and very roomy . We also toured the ranch which was a lot of fun. the home is a nice true Hawaiian experience

Very enjoyable!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay more so than the previous year. The house seemed cleaner and well kept. I brought 3 packages of mosquito coils which I didn't have to use this year versus last year when we were bothered nightly, which for some reason they were nonexistent this time. Other than fixing the outer screen doors so we can leave the inner doors open during the night, I was perfectly happy with the house, We will certainly return

next year if health permits. Mahalo and a hui ho!

Breathtakingly beautiful

  • 5 of 5

This house is an absolute gem.

My favorite part about it was the view in the backyard. We let our kids stay in the bedroom while my husband and I slept on the futon in the living room...because the view and the breeze were THAT good! We would wake up to the birds singing and the sight of the misty mountain tops of Kualoa. It was unbelievable!

LaRona is very sweet, prompt to answer any questions, and she is very easy to work with! She accommodated all of our needs during our week's stay and she checked on us to see if there was anything we needed!

The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes and glasses, etc. The fridge has lots of space. There is no air conditioning, which made me worried at first, but the wind circulated through the windows very well and we slept comfortably every night! The futon was comfortable, as were all of the other beds. There is a spacious washer and dryer.

The lot is very private! There are neighbors but everyone was quiet, so we respectfully were quiet as well. There is a beach just feet from the end of the driveway! The road is a little busy so we didn't venture there with our young children much, but it was beautiful!

I can't wait to vacation here again in the future. I do not have a single negative thing to say about this property or the customer service of LaRona or the location or ANYTHING! I couldn't have imagined a more amazing place to stay and I am so thankful for the owners who allowed us to share their piece of heaven. Thank you!

The beach across the road is very nice and a favorite swim & surf spot! This house is central to Kualoa Ranch with its host of activities and tours, including the newly opened zipline canopy tour.
