About Roberto

The manager was born in north of Italy; he has been living in Rome for 40 years by now. In Rome he took his PhD several years ago... He knows the city, its story, its environment and culture by hearth. he speaks italian, english and french and understands spanish and portuguese.

Roberto purchased this apartment in 2010

Why Roberto chose Rome

The apartment is full of light, overlooking a splendid renaissance palace (Palazzo Farnese) and it is sited in a small and quiet piazza where cars are not allowed, aside of the nice church of Santa Maria della Quercia. Every nice place to see in the historical Roma is at walking distance; the flokloristic, ancient Trastevere site of the city is just across the Tevere river.

What makes this apartment unique

It is beautiful looking from the window the ancient Palazzo Spada while talking with good friends or relatives deciding where going to dinner: at home, where it is possible to cook by ourselves roman specialities, or out where, in 2 minutes, you reach excellent, and often cheap outdoor or indoor restaurants?

Perfect for a Family of Five!

  • 5 of 5

This apartment is great for families with kids. We were in Rome for a week with our three sons (10, 12 and 15) and we had way more room than we needed. The apartment entrance is around the corner from a little square, Quercia, and just steps away from Piazza Farnese and Campo de’ Fiori. It is ideally situated for families who want a central location without being around a bunch of other tourists. We easily walked to all the major sites. Rome really isn’t that big, and if you are comfortable walking a mile or two, you can get just about anyplace. While we didn’t get there ourselves, it is also conveniently near Trastevere, a neighborhood across the river that is supposed to have great restaurants.

The apartment itself is three flights up. There is no elevator, but if stairs don’t bother you, this apartment is worth the climb. Once in the apartment, you can open a the window in the main room, look down on the square, glass of wine in hand, to watch the people walking by and marvel at the nimble way the tiny cars navigate through the streets. The apartment is furnished in comfortable utilitarianism. Everything was clean and well cared for. The floors throughout the apartment are terra-cotta and there are lovely open wooden beams in the high living room ceiling. The best room is the bedroom that sleeps 4. Our boys all shared this room. It has a fabulous painted ceiling and plenty of room for three to spread out - the younger boys slept in the single beds and the older took the double bed. Solid wooden shutters allowed them to block out the light, so they could get good sleep. The room faces a quiet little alleyway and they didn’t have any problems with street noise. Next to the this large bedroom, is a smaller bedroom that contains a trundle bed. We never even used this room, we had so much space! My husband and I shared a bedroom on the other side of the living area, which had a comfortable double bed and an en suite bathroom.

The ‘master bedroom’ does face the square, and because the square is paved in cobbles, is small, and surrounded by buildings, the sound echos quite loudly in the square. Other reviewers mentioned noise on Friday night, which we also experienced. We found a simple pair of comfortable foam earplugs blocked out the noise and we were able to sleep very soundly, even on Friday night.

The bathrooms are not fancy, but are good-sized and worked fine. The master bath has a tub-shower and the hall bath has an enclosed shower. There is an o

Lovable apartment for a wonderful vacation

  • 5 of 5

W chose this apartment amiong many others available because of its fantastic position, and upon suggestion of previous guests friends of ours.

The apartment sees from its windows on the Piazza della Quercia the magnificent renaissance Palazzo Spada. It alone deserves the visit. The apartment is clear, with a lot of light due to south-east exposure. Three bedrooms, two nice bathroom, a confortable kitchen, a huge living room. You can't ask more.

Ah, there are wooden ceilings and in the largest bedroom a frescoed ceiling!

Piazza Farnese is round the corner, like Campo de' Fiori. with its romantic market,. Piazza Navona is a 5 minutes walk, St. Peter's church and Trastevere are a 10 minutes walk Around the apartment, plenty of restaurants, coffee shops, wineries, any kind of shops and 2 supermarkets.

Definitely, the best place to stay also thank the good management and the kind and friendly owners.

If we will be back in Rome we surely be back in this place.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!

  • 1 of 5

The water heater was broken during our stay and we were unable to bathe for 5 days. The "management" company was contacted; came to the apartment several times (for extended periods of time in an attempt to repair). A professional technician never came to make repairs. The property manager was not qualified to repair so the attempts made were senseless.

I contacted the property owner, who said he was unaware of the problem but would reach out to the manager; the manager never responded after their 3rd attempt to repair (unsuccessfully). After this fiasco, I reached out to the owner to state that we should be due a partial refund considering we could not bathe. He responded that the property manager says there is nothing wrong with the water heater. If that is the case then why was the property manager there 3 times for extended periods attempting to repair, with the first being on the day we arrived when the manager found there to be no hot water.

Additionally, the sewer smell in the en-suite bath was so strong we had to shut the door and not use the sink and toilet in that bath. Location is very convenient, but be aware that this is a big party area where bars/restaurants discard empty bottles (loudly) until very late and the sanitation department begins picking them up very early (loudly) which is quite disruptive to sleep. There were also many very loud people roaming the streets until the wee hours of the morning.

The photos of the apartment are accurate. However, when I advised the owner that I would be traveling with my 75 year old mother and needed to know how many steps were involved for entry/exit to the home, he told me "two very short flights".... the steps are quite steep and, in my opinion, not short.

We stayed in 3 VRBO properties during our 3 week tour of Italy. This is the ONLY property where we had any issues with both the apartment and the owner/manager. Not being able to bathe in the freezing water in the apartment is a HUGE problem. We are 5 women over the age of 50 and not "high maintenance" considering my requests were quite polite even after 3 days of not having the ability to bathe.

My career is in real estate/property management. At no time in my career have I (nor will I) respond to a tenant as this owner/management company responded to me, failing to address the problem. There is a reason the owner requires cash only payment and doesn’t utilize the full services of the website… so that the tenant has no recourse.

Owner's Response: Hello. I am surprised of a review left after 2 months and a half after the permanence. Why did you not complain before? There is something strange in your revieeview that makes it unreliable and a bit offensive.

Spectacular Location

  • 5 of 5

I have now stayed at La Quercia twice. My wife and four children and I stayed for a month in the summer of 2014 and we stayed for a month in early summer 2016. We love staying at the apartment. The description is accurate as are the pictures. The apartment has 8 windows and tall ceilings allowing plenty of light into the apartment during the day (many Rome apartments do not). Property was clean and customer service was good. nearby are grocery stores, shopping, and too many restaurants to count. I have been to Rome many time and believe that this apartments location is the absolute best place to be centrally located to everything. Rex-Tours is in the same building as the apartment and I would recommend them as well.

Roma Vacation

  • 4 of 5

Excellent location for taking in many of the sites of Rome. The check in and support for very good. Minor challenges, like a tempermental washing machine were handled quickly and efficiently. Reminder to non European customers that the second floor is actually the third floor. We handled it well and ended up in better shape than when we arrived!

Excellent location in the heart of Rome

  • 5 of 5

I really enjoyed my vacation in Rome. I browsed on VRBO and saw the listing about this beautiful apartment in the historical center of Roma, facing the wonderful Palazzo Spada, aside piazza Campo de' Fiori, piazza Farnese and steps to piazza Navona. Very hard to find a better location, The apartment is full of light, well furnished , comfortable and agreeable. It is close to everything, starting from restaurants, shops, groceries, museums, everything...

The owners were very agreeable, and the key holders for check in and check out very helpful, kind and professional.

I strongly recommend this place for any length stay in Rome. James W. from Illinois..
