Super cool island with golf cart only trails to explore. The island is Two and a half miles long but you can walk the beach for 7 miles, as the beach now connects multiple islands. Golf carts are available for rent on the island.
Ride the water taxi over, rent a boat close by and dock at our dock, or bring your own boat. The beach is very beautiful and secluded. The docks are a great place to fish, swim, or just to sight see. Many dolphins in all the waters surrounding the island. Manatees swim all around too, see them swim by the docks or on the beach. Calm and shallow gulf waters make it fun for the whole family. Enjoy peace and serenity listening to the frogs and night creatures, many stars to look at in our dark sky.
World class fishing in our waters including snook, redfish, grouper, snapper, and our famous Tarpons. Many charters to choose from for your ever fishing need. Many restaurants nearby within a short boat ride or go to Boca Grande right next door for more restaurants and good shopping.
There is no doubt you will fall in love with our little island paradise. The only problem is leaving. Property manager on island for all your needs and concerns. This truly is a wonderful home to rent and you won't be disappointed!

We live and work here, we love the island!!!!
Peaceful, no cars, no stress, I am usually the only one jogging on the beach at sunset. Great place to raise a family
So happy with the home, the pictures do not show how nice and private this home is. We want to reserve this home for next January already.
Little Gasparilla Island is absolutely amazing with beautiful white sand beaches and very few people. If you do not like crowds, this place is for you. The home is spacious and clean; kitchen is well equipped. The owners are super nice and willing to work with you on whatever you need. The home is a short walk to the beach. We will be back!
John's place is awesome! Perfect getaway for any family. There is plenty of privacy if you want to come with another couple or keep the in-laws downstairs in the separate apartment. Upstairs has a king bedroom, a queen bedroom and a full bathroom. The house is stocked with towels and all of the kitchen essentials you could need. There is a nice screened in porch with a table for 4 and porch swing to relax on after a day at the beach. There are also toys for the kids and movies to watch. A bouncy seat and pack and play are available to use as well.
You should rent John's golf cart at least for a day to explore the entire island but you can easily walk to the bay side and the beach because of it's great central location. Everyone on the island is super friendly and there are no cars to worry about. We felt totally safe setting the kids free on their own to walk to the docks to fish or to go walk on the beach to look for sharks teeth. The beach has beautiful sunsets and you are sure to see plenty of manatees and dolphins.
John lives close by and can help with anything you may need. There is a water taxi service available ($) if you need to run to the grocery store or go explore someplace on the mainland but reservations are a must for this service. John brought us across on his boat much cheaper than the water taxi and he was a lot of fun! I'd recommend going with John if he is available.
We will definitely come back and recommend this place to anyone. Thanks!
Very clean! Well kept and maintained property. Secluded from other homes on the island - very private. Lower level has beach equipment storage, washer/dryer, outdoor shower (for removing beach sand), and a mother-in-law apartment with it's own air conditioner and restroom/shower (perfect for Grandma). Upstairs has wrap around balcony with gas grill, screened-in porch with wicker seating for four, large kitchen and living room with plenty of room for kids to sprawl and plenty of kitchen wares (yay blender) and reverse osmosis drinking system, two bedrooms with K / Q, full bath. Laundry basket and hamper provided. Lots of towels and even a beach bag were in the linen closet! We had an issue with the tub faucet (island water blocked it up) but the owner John replaced it ... it was very handy to have him just at the end of the road. We also rented his golf cart which was a must for getting items from the boat to the house - we arrived after a major storm and dragging luggage over the cart paths would have been a mess. Only suggestions: more hand towels, wash cloths, This rental has no dish washer, but we relied on paper plates and only had to wash cookware.
We used Pirate water taxi to get to the island ($10/person/way) - which you want to be on time for (Capt Emmett will let you know that for sure!). We bought groceries and liquor at the Publix in Placida. Groceries were cheaper there than in our home state of Colorado... Liquor comparable. Capt Emmett dropped us off at dock 75 which is the shortest distance to the house, but if John leaves the cart at his dock for you, you'll want to get dropped off at 78/79. The beach is a short walk/golf cart ride away. The sand bard extends quite a ways off shore and I saw teenagers 100 ft out that were only waist deep. Beach had people on it but not overcrowded. Folks brought body boards, paddle boards and kayaks. We saw dolphins off the southern tip of the Island but took a boat ride to see them and manatees (John knows where to find them if you rent a boat). The water was not very clear due to the major storm (tornado and massive rain) prior to our arrival. The water is still pretty cool but the air temp was in the low 80s and perfect throughout our stay. We waded and our young kids played in the waves. To be honest, we didn't want to leave and could have stayed forever. We'd definitely come back and stay with John again. Thanks, John for treating us so well and for all your help!
John's place was GREAT! Secluded but near everything(by boat). Understand this is an Island with no commercial ventures save for a golf cart fix-it/rental shop. Both he and his neighbors were awesome and helpful. We had the milky way above and blue photo-plankton in the water, at night. During the day we cooked turkey and pork butts in the smoker provided. Some days we ventured out, by boat, to other islands for lunch or dinner. Places like Cabbage key or the loose caboose on nearby Boca Grande. During the days we had nearby sand bars to hang out on and enjoy. To be sure this was not a five star resort! It was more like a bare boat charter for me and seven close friends.Renting a golf cart and a boat will only enhance your stay. We all had the time of our lives.
As a family we were looking for a relaxing vacation on the beach. This place hit the nail on the head. It had everything we were looking for, nice beaches, quiet area, low traffic. The house had all the appliances/comforts you'd need and was on a dead end street so not a lot of traffic. Be prepared to see dolphins, turtles, snakes, lizards as you swim and walk around the island!
We did have a logistics issue the first night we arrived (which is why the overall vacation rating was good instead of excellent) BUT Tracy and John did everything they could to rectify the situation. Because of the great effort they took to resolve the issue I would not hesitate to recommend them to friends and family.
Next time we are looking for a relaxing vacation, this will be our first choice.
My husband and I loved our stay on Little Gasparilla last January and we have been counting the days until our return December 26th! Tracy, John and the boys were great! They helped us in so many ways during our stay...getting accustomed to island living...which didn't take long! We loved everything about the island...beautiful beaches, breathtaking sunsets, shelling, dolphins, friendly neighbors, trips to the mainland to explore and get groceries etc., long walks on the beach ...the only thing we didn't like was having to leave! The cottage was wonderful...it was so clean and cozy as well as very quiet...what a place to relax! It had everything we needed...we just had to bring our food and clothing...on our return we will pack fewer clothes! It was the first vacation we have ever had that we felt totally rested when we returned home! We can't wait to return to our perfect island getaway!
