Ok, I am 45. I have lived here all of my life. I am self-employed. I am a farmer. I own a convenience store in town. I try to help out with the community all I can, and volunteer for the local county fair. I like to go horseback riding. I enjoy what I do and enjoy living in a small town. This property I bought in 2007 and it was especially dear to me because it belonged to my grandmother.
The Owner purchased this farmhouse in 2007
This property actually belonged to my grandmother who passed away and I bought it as an investment for weekend rentals. It is a beautiful piece of property, very cozy house with great mountain views. It has all been completely renovated and decorated to give you that cozy, relaxed feeling.
This property is centrally located within twenty minutes of all major attractions in the area. If you just want to get away and not worry about any of the local attractions this would be a great place to relax. This is "Mayberry". We don't even have a stoplight in this town.
Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your home. The farm house is beautiful and relaxing. We had a great time horse back riding at Jordan Hollow..thanks for the suggestion.
This cute farmhouse was a great homebase for our first trip to Shenandoah National Park. There were two of us, so we only used the downstairs.
The house was well stocked with the things we needed. The house was super clean and well maintained. We especially enjoyed the outdoor hot tub for relaxing after lots of hiking.
The house was convenient to a nearby small town with a grocery store and anything else we might need.
We would definitely go back for any future trips to the area. Highly recommended!!
Gary's farmhouse is a class act. It is very clean, nicely appointed and he has gone the extra mile to make you settle right in. Nice towels, comfy beds, even some coffee! The hot tub is a GREAT touch -- my 10 year old daughter and I loved it. The house is well located (though definitely "in the country") with about 15 minutes to Luray Caverns (must see) and an hour to Culpeper over the mountains, which is a must-see little town with shops and restaurants galore (much nicer than Lurary IMO). Great spot and a great value.
Clean. Comfortable. Charming. Quiet.
This was a fantastic find. Impeccably clean, it felt like I had transported myself to my grandma's house 60 years ago except for the satellite TV, hot tub (SUPER clean), and comfortable new beds. Your own little piece of heaven. 2 mins from food, groceries, and whatever you need to live. 15 mins or less to all attractions like the Luray caverns, Shenandoah, horseback riding (Jordan Stables was super fun, kind and family operated). The owner of this farmhouse, Gary was kind and helpful and wasn't around to bother you in your serenity. Sheets, towels, tissues and soap and coffee all provided.
I highly recommend staying here
We really enjoyed our stay at this beautiful updated farmhouse. The first thing that struck us when we arrived is how CLEAN everything was. I have stayed in other rental homes before but they were never this immaculate. The mountain views were stunning and we enjoyed the view of the stars and fireflies every night. The home was charming but updated and had lots of nice touches: lots of nice towels for both the bathtub and hot tub, everything you would need in the kitchen, even coffee and hot chocolate. There was wood for the firepit, charcoal for the grill, and even some outdoor toys for the kiddos. The hot tub was wonderful as was the firepit. Gary was very responsive and easy to deal with. We had no issues whatsoever and would highly recommend! There is a grocery store a mile away to stock up on food, and it is a short drive to Luray (we enjoyed the Caverns and the Zoo) as well as to the beautiful Shenandoah National Park. We added this as a stop when we were visiting family in D.C. and it was an easy and scenic 2 hour drive from there. Would highly recommend!!
Had a fantastic trip down to VA for a family wedding and a few days of vacation. This little farmhouse is well maintained, comfortable and has everything (even coffee) you need to make your stay pleasant and enjoyable. Enjoy your coffee in the morning on the front porch looking out at the Shenandoah National park or our back on the patio with view of more mountains. A nighty visit to the hotub was also in order. Quiet little neighborhood and easy access to get where you need to go. The owner Gary was great to deal with. If you stay here make sure to check out the Hawksbill diner - good food and great prices. Make the trip to Triple Crown BBQ in Luray (open Fri, sat, Sun) for some delicious Q. The steeps upstairs are a little steep so careful if you are in socks only, wife slide down on her backside, no worries though she was fine. No damage. No WIFI either which was nice, except for my daughter that had online homework to complete for a college summer class - no worries though she just ran up the road to Luray and the Gathering grounds. Thanks Gary!~
The property is exactly as per the description and very well maintained. Booking process is easy and Gary gave very good instructions for entering the property. It has amazing views of the mountains on 3 sides and from the hot tub as well. A vry good stay overall
