Description

Ruidoso Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4-5)

The Huston Family Cabin is located roughly 2.5 miles off of Mecham Drive up a scenic road alongside Cedar Creek. Sitting at an altitude of 7200+ feet, makes it an average of 5-10 degrees cooler than Mid-town. Nestled at the edge of the Lincoln National Forest, there is an abundance of wildlife including mule deer, elk, hummingbirds and the occasional bear. The large front deck allows for guests to sit outside and take-in the cool mountain air, all while enjoying the outdoors and the serenity of the mountains. For those families seeking peace and quiet and a getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city or for couples seeking a weekend away, this cabin will meet your expectations.

The cabin has 2 bedrooms and 1 bath. The master bedroom is furnished with a queen size bed and a wall-mount TV. The second bedroom has a set of twin/full bunk beds and a TV. The cabin has ceiling fans, heat via furnace and a wood burning stove. The Huston Family Cabin was purchased in 2009 for the owners’ second home as a retreat from the Texas heat. After many years of searching, this was the owners’ Heaven Sent cabin. The cabin has been newly refurnished for comfort and relaxation. The kitchen comes fully stocked with the necessary spices, utensils and cookware. There is a washer and dryer available upon request. Patio furniture and a grill are provided on the deck. Coffee, hot chocolate, hummingbird and wildlife feed are provided.

There are 2 trailheads within minutes of the doorstep that lead into the Lincoln National Forest. Also, at the entrance of Cedar Creek there is a jogging/fitness trail as well as a day-use picnic area. The cabin is centrally located within minutes of Ruidoso Mid-town shopping and Ski Apache. Also nearby is the airport, Flying J Chuck wagon dinner and show, the local grocery store, movie theatre, restaurants and excellent trout fishing at Bonita Lake.

About DeLana Huston

We are Randy and DeLana Huston from Stephenville, Texas. We have enjoyed the Ruidoso area for many years with our family - three daughters and a son. After many years of searching for the perfect getaway for our family, we had just about given up when in Summer of 2009 we were blessed to find this charming cabin. We hope that you can come and enjoy the scenery, wildlife and the cooler temperatures, just as we have over the past year. We welcome you and enjoy your stay!

Why DeLana Huston chose New Mexico

We love the area and enjoy getting away from the Texas heat. Excellent wildlife and peace and quiet. Great area to get away from work and just relax.

What makes this cabin unique

The abundance of deer, listening to the creek across the road, going on hikes, enjoying all of God's beauty in the area.

Love this cabin

  • 5 of 5

We love this cabin. We stayed from 12/21-12/26/15 for Christmas. Previously stayed here for Christmas 2013. We had a concern about using the gas oven and the owners addressed it immediately. Meet a nice neighbor up the road. Kids can sled down the hills on side of house all day if there's snow all day. Close to snow tubing and ski apache. Plenty of deer and corn to feed. Close to Red Box and IGA grocery store. House has all the amenities. Loved they had flour to make Christmas sugar cookies. I forgot it at the store. Kids loved the new gas fire pit. Will stay again!

Just as described, perfect for a family, close for skiing and hiking, cooked in every night, never had to go into town, no wifi ended up being a plus.

Great cabin

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful and cozy cabin. We enjoyed our time in this cabin. It is located in between downtown Ruidoso and Ski Apache which is very convenient. We love that is located in the woody area and that makes it feel even better. The couches are very comfortable and are reclinable. My two boys (12 and 11 years old) sleep on the couches because are very comfortable. We travel days before Christmas and the cabin was decorated with a Christmas tree and lights. We love this cabin and for sure we will stay again here.

Great 4th of July Get away!!! God Bless America!!!

  • 5 of 5

The Cabin was and is still beyond our expectations. We loved the quiet woody area. Our 3 boys loved waking up early in the morning to feed the deer and playing outside. We saw 3-15 deer throughout the day, each day of our stay. We enjoyed early morning coffee on the patio and the buzzing of the hummingbirds. We also loved the sound of the rain as it hit the tall pine trees and breathing in the fresh cool scent of pine air. Hiking the fitness trail down the road and other trails in the Lincoln National Park is a must do. Awesome fireworks display at The Inn of The Mountain Gods. We were sad to leave just after 5 short days. We will definatley stay again. It is truly Heaven Sent!!!
