Heaven Sent Cabin Along Cedar Creek

Bedrooms 2
Space 750 sq. ft.
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 - 3 nights

About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4-5)

The Huston Family Cabin is located roughly 2.5 miles off of Mecham Drive up a scenic road alongside Cedar Creek. Sitting at an altitude of 7200+ feet, makes it an average of 5-10 degrees cooler than Mid-town. Nestled at the edge of the Lincoln National Forest, there is an abundance of wildlife including mule deer, elk, hummingbirds and the occasional bear. The large front deck allows for guests to sit outside and take-in the cool mountain air, all while enjoying the outdoors and the serenity of the mountains. For those families seeking peace and quiet and a getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city or for couples seeking a weekend away, this cabin will meet your expectations.

The cabin has 2 bedrooms and 1 bath. The master bedroom is furnished with a queen size bed and a wall-mount TV. The second bedroom has a set of twin/full bunk beds and a TV. The cabin has ceiling fans, heat via furnace and a wood burning stove. The Huston Family Cabin was purchased in 2009 for the owners’ second home as a retreat from the Texas heat. After many years of searching, this was the owners’ Heaven Sent cabin. The cabin has been newly refurnished for comfort and relaxation. The kitchen comes fully stocked with the necessary spices, utensils and cookware. There is a washer and dryer available upon request. Patio furniture and a grill are provided on the deck. Coffee, hot chocolate, hummingbird and wildlife feed are provided.

There are 2 trailheads within minutes of the doorstep that lead into the Lincoln National Forest. Also, at the entrance of Cedar Creek there is a jogging/fitness trail as well as a day-use picnic area. The cabin is centrally located within minutes of Ruidoso Mid-town shopping and Ski Apache. Also nearby is the airport, Flying J Chuck wagon dinner and show, the local grocery store, movie theatre, restaurants and excellent trout fishing at Bonita Lake.

About DeLana Huston

We are Randy and DeLana Huston from Stephenville, Texas. We have enjoyed the Ruidoso area for many years with our family - three daughters and a son. After many years of searching for the perfect getaway for our family, we had just about given up when in Summer of 2009 we were blessed to find this charming cabin. We hope that you can come and enjoy the scenery, wildlife and the cooler temperatures, just as we have over the past year. We welcome you and enjoy your stay!

Loved the cabin. The deck and fire pit were such a nice surprise.

We stayed three nights. The cabin was clean and well stocked. The ability to feed the deer and birds kept the wildlife coming around. Sitting around the fire pit in the early morning and late evenings was so enjoyable.

Truly sent from heaven!!

Very nice cozy cabin with a high deck that makes you feel you're part of nature. Sitting out there hearing sounds from birds and seeing deer up so close was an amazing experience. Fully equipped kitchen saved us from having to eat out every day.

Also Very close to hiking trails. I highly recommend it!

Absolutely love the location, serenity and cleanliness of your Heaven Sent cabin.

This is our 3rd year in a row that we have been Blessed to stay at this same cabin. We feel fortunate that we can plan ahead with the owner when we find out our Spring Break dates. Kids love the location and able to feed the deer. We love the deck and fire pit to watch and enjoy. Close to everything but still out in the woods.

Wonderful place and location

  • 5 of 5

The property is beautiful. We loved the comfy living room and couches/recliners. The whole home is decorated like a very cozy cabin. The bed was comfortable. We cooked our meals there. I did not know what the kitchen utensils would include so I brought mine from home, but they do have most everything you might need. We loved the deck and the little propane fire pit on the deck. Nice that you can put out deer and bird feed to enjoy the animals. Overall great experience!

Our only complaint was that there were no sheets on the master bed or pillowcases when we arrived. We found some in the closet but the sheet did not fit the bed. There was a laundry basket in the kitchen but it appeared to contain unwashed linens. Not clear if its supposed to be clean linen and the previous guest tossed their dirty on top and the cleaning crew didn't realize this. We ended up taking the top sheet off of the bottom bunk bed and using it as a bottom sheet and then the top sheet from the closet. Overall it worked out, but expected to arrive to a clean bed made up by their crew that cleans and fixes the home in between guests.

First and foremost I want to say that the cabin was very nice.

  • 3 of 5

Cabin was excellent and patio was amazing even though we could not enjoy it due to the extremely cold weather. Recommend it on good weather season. Streets were very clean but ran into 6 inches of snow at property where we could not see where the driveway was. Not having a 4x4 made it extremely difficult to park. After about 15 minutes trying to smash snow, finally cleared the street. Aside from that, it is highly recommended.
