Experience life in a beach community the way the locals do at Playa Haus, our 2-story house just a block from the beach boardwalk. It's got 2 big decks for sunbathing, grilling, and enjoying the spectacular sunrises and sunsets of St. Augustine Beach.
Comfortably sleeping 8 in 3 bedrooms, plus an additional room, our house is great for large groups because in addition to the main house on the second floor, the first floor contains a second living-room area with a couch, mini-fridge, and microwave. This means that the teenagers can go downstairs (by detached exterior stairways; no stairs inside the house) for an evening of music, games, and snacks, while the grown-ups enjoy the upstairs... or the grandparents can get a little peace and quiet while chaos reigns upstairs. It's great to have 2 spaces.
The main living area is upstairs, in a room with sky-blue walls, big windows, and a giant, brand-new 42" HDTV. There's room for everyone on the comfy sectional couch, so gather the crew and play a rousing round of Scene It before dinner! The kitchen is handy to this area, so the cooks don't get left out of the fun.
Here at Playa Haus you'll find everything you need for a comfortable stay. Our kitchen is fully equipped with all the pots, pans, dishes, and utensils you could ask for, not to mention gleaming appliances and time-savers from a coffee maker to a blender. Our beds and baths have fresh linens, blankets, pillows, and towels provided, and you're welcome to use our washer and dryer to keep them clean. It's so convenient to pop a load of swimsuits and beach towels into the wash in time for the kids to return to the beach for one more dip before bedtime.
Adjacent to the living room and kitchen is our spacious dining area, with a table for 8 in front of floor-to-ceiling windows. This table makes a great game-playing and puzzle-working spot, too, so take your plates out to the big deck for an al fresco meal and devote the indoor space to family fun. You have free wireless Internet at Playa Haus, so feel free to set up the computer and update your Facebook status daily ("Never want to come home from St. Augustine Beach!").
The decks are definitely the stars of Playa Haus, each running the length of one side of the house. You have partial ocean views from one, but the real advantage is the sweeping landscape of rooftops and sky. You can hear the waves out here, smell the ocean, and hear the birds calling. It's heaven, no matter what time of day -- or time of year, for that matter! -- you visit.
From a practical standpoint, the decks also have a grill, plenty of seating for hours of lounging and sunbathing, and a safety screen. There is room out here for everyone, and don't be surprised if the kids beg to "camp out" on the deck at least one night! (You might even be tempted to join them!)
When the day is done and it is time to sleep, everyone is going to be happy in their room at Playa Haus. Unlike many houses, there is not one giant master bedroom and then a bunch of small rooms. Everyone has a great place to sleep. Downstairs, you will find a queen bedroom with a door for privacy and another room with two twin beds with a divider for privacy, this room also features a washer and dryer. Upstairs you will find two separate bedrooms with a door, both with queen beds. All 4 sleeping rooms have TVs and storage space. This is perfect for larger groups!
The 2 bathrooms at Playa Haus are convenient to the bedrooms. Upstairs and downstairs have their own bathrooms. Upstairs has a shower and tub while downstairs has a shower.
You will love the privacy and spaciousness of Playa Haus. The giant backyard is perfect for outdoor family time! There's even a shady place here to park your car. Playa Haus has it all!
The best part is that you're just a hop, skip, and jump from one of northeast Florida's beautiful beaches. You'll fall in love with our beach... which is why you have to come stay here the next time you come to St. Augustine! We can't wait for you to experience the joy of beachside living at Playa Haus!
Hi! My name is Steve Milo and I started Vacation Rental Pros in 2006. Our family stays in vacation rental homes whenever we travel, both domestically and abroad! I own several vacation homes and listen carefully to all our guests' feedback. Our greatest compliment is when folks refer Vacation Rental Pros to their friends and relatives. We now manage over 1,800 properties in Florida, Tennessee and South Carolina. We have homes in Ft. Myers Beach, Orlando, St. Augustine Beach, Daytona Beach, Palm Coast, Ponte Vedra Beach, Hilton Head and Gatlinburg. We booked over 15,000 rentals and received over 5,000 guest reviews in 2016. Please call if you need help booking your dream vacation!
Overall, we had a wonderful vacation at Playa Haus. The decks are comfortable at all hours of the day and the house's location can't be beaten. The walk to St Augustine's gorgeous beach was an easy one. Our dogs loved their long twice-daily walks along the water. The downstairs apartment worked well for us when we had company. They appreciated the privacy and the separate entrance. It was an easy ride to get into the city while being close to several good restaurants in the beach area. Our dinner at the Ice Plant at the distillery, lunches at Aunt Kate's and breakfast at Georgie's Diner were all great. We loved both the Wednesday and the Saturday farmers markets along A-1-A.
While the house was comfortable, there are some suggestions we would make. Our first evening in the house was cool. We could only find one throw on the main floor. Later we located a comforter on the lower level. There should be some light blankets available when the bed covers are not enough.
The kitchen was more than well-supplied with dishes, cooking utensils and glassware. In fact it was so well-stocked that there was no room for groceries. Perhaps the cabinets could be thinned out a bit to mke room for renters' purchases. Renters with sensitivity to scents would also appreciate detergents and dish liquid that are unscented.
We rented a couple of DVD's from the red Box at Walgreens, but we couldn't figure out how to use the DVD/Bluray player in the living room. Maybe the owners could write out instructons on using the player that may be different from the ones renters are used to.
I probably sound a little negative in this review. I just want the owner to consider ways to make his/her renters even more comfortable. The house was cute, clean and nicely decorated. In fact, we have already booked the house for our vacation next year.
For the 4th year we were in St Augustine and had a great stay Nice convenient house near by the sea We even found another one for next year. Only a slight problem with a short in an elctrical box on the wall but i`m sure you will fix it
You can't really beat the price. The neighborhood is very peaceful and it only took a couple minutes to walk to the shore. The beach was beautiful! I did want to point out that if anyone has a hard time going up stairs, this may not be a good fit, mostly because the kitchen is upstairs and the bigger bathroom as well. There are two bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs. Downstairs has one true room and another little area that is closed off by a curtain. The area that is closed off by a curtain has two twin beds and a washer/dryer next to the beds. Downstairs is also completely separate from upstairs, so if you're downstairs, you will have to go outside and enter through the front door to get to the second floor. Overall, it was really pleasant and the family had a great time!
Overall, the home was nice but worn. The proximity to the beach was lovely and we enjoyed the deck and grill very much. However, our main concern was that the house is listed as four bedrooms and it is really a two bedroom home with an apartment downstairs. The levels are connected only from outside stairs. This was a concern because I had my son with us and his area to sleep was downstairs . I was not comfortable leaving him on his own down there. There was also only one key and we found we were constantly going up and down locking and unlocking doors.
