Just the right size

  • 4 of 5

This sweet little cottage is very comfortable in so many ways. The location is great, the neighborhood is pretty and very walkable, and the owner has paid good attention to the furnishings chosen, including a very comfortable mattress. The grill was especially enjoyed, and the dishwasher was a real treat to have.

Since we both like to cook (and save money), a few small suggestions to really make this a little jewel:

Upgrade the flatware. There were only two teaspoons, and the quality was really poor.

Add a set of steak knives.

Replace the coated fry pans.

Provide salt and pepper, at the very least. We left behind a half roll of paper towels, and some aluminum foil.

Have a welcome/FAQ manual about stuff in the area, and information about the property itself, like internet information.

And like some others have posted, being able to open the windows with screens would be appreciated. I love fresh air!

Bob was really easy to work with, and when we realized we would not be arriving within a specific time window, he graciously offered to refund the first night, and meet up with us early the next day to provide the keys and a refund check.

All in all, a very positive and enjoyable stay! If you choose this cottage, you will not be disappointed.

Efficient, well supplied cottage. Quiet neighborhood with a beautiful view.

We enjoyed our three week stay at this cottage on the lake. Walking through the woods and enjoying the water view was plus for this vacation. Our Internet was missing the first week but problem solved after a few calls to the owner.

Cute Little Cottage

  • 4 of 5

I have rented this cottage on and off through the years. It is very clean and cute. The pictures are accurate. The only complaint I have is that there are no screens on most of the windows so it is necessary to run the air most of the time. I personally like the cool Michigan evenings and hope that the owner can put screens on all the windows and make sure they all properly open.

Very cute, clean, perfectly located cottage!

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was immaculate and nicely updated. We really loved the front deck and sat out there in the morning and evening.

Refrigerator was nice to have because we bought bread and treats from the nearby De Boer's Restaurant/Bakery, that we had for breakfast a couple of mornings.

Close walk to Ottawa Beach Inn, which had great burgers and not too far to the 250 steps of Mt. Pisgah to work it off!

Great, quiet neighborhood and we took walks every night.

Would definitely come back!

PS, Bob (owner) was very accessible and responsive when we realized that we had forgotten a couple of items - he mailed them to us immediately - very nice!

We were very comfortable in this cute cottage. Loved grilling out with view of the lake - watching sailboats coming & going. We had a very relaxing mini vacation here - and will come back again!

This little cottage was perfect for the two of us with enough room and very close to both lakes. 5 min bike ride to lake michigan and 30 min bike ride to downtown holland. Will stay here again when visiting holland area.

Map

Holland isn't just a summer destination . The Summer Place cottage is available year- round! Of course there’s no better place to be in the spring than Holland's Tulip Time Festival. Known for our famous Tulip Time Festival, Windmill Island and Dutch Village just to name a few of our local attractions. Fall is a great time to take a hike and enjoy the fall colors. The cottage is surrounded by miles and miles of bike trails. In the winter curl up next to your own cozy fireplace, cross country ski, view the amazing Lake Michigan’s Icebergs. The downtown is a great place to shop even during the snowiest winter days with help of our HEATED downtown 'Snowmelt' sidewalks and outdoor fireplace. Holland’s downtown is vibrant year round and is a huge draw for locals and visitors alike year round.
